DEGREE PROJECT
BATHING AND PAVILION DESIGN
TRANSPOSITION CRITIC: ANGELA PANG SPRING 2015
Lacledes’ Landing is separted from the city and a neighboring park by Eads bridge. The Eads Bridge, one landmark, is a wll-like structure that blocks most views toward the Arch. SITE PLAN
I proposed two buildings - a Barhing Center and a Pavilion with restaurants and stores - either side of this bridge, which will connect the old community and a new park, and take advantage of the new Arch Gateway Plan. In addition, a public plaza, located above the roof of bathing area would be regarded as green space that is an extension from Arch Gateway Park. The Pavilion’s curved roof and parallel floor to landscape show a humble attitude toward the landmarks surrounding it. All commercial programs are contained in the urban fabric of the pavilion. In contrast, people will feel an artiicial water landscape inside of the bathing space.
SECTIONS B-B
GROUND FLOOR PLAN
SECTIONS C-C
The two buildings break through the solid bridge and interact with each other. As a result, the abandoned urban space would be revitalized and the park would be more easily accessible from the City.

THEATER DESIGN
INTERLOCKING PERFORMANCE CRITIC: PHILIP HOLDEN SPRING 2013
The theatre plays with gesture to show two different responses toward the center of town and most essential student community nearby. Open public space face towards high-dense main street and continued facades face to low-dense Grinnell College. The theatre gives opportunities for people in small town could experience more dynamic interior landscape space, as a result, public activities and performance inside the theatre could interlock each other.
STREET VIEW PERSPECTIVE
SECTION A-A
The big theatre’s floor is made of the black box theatre’s roof. Two spaces are complementary on section. The floor extruded towards double-high lounge space and extended to touchthe ground, creating an interior landscape.

NARRATIVE LIGHT CRITIC: PETER STEMPEL FALL 2013

SECTIONS
DIAGRAMS
The project focuses on spatial connection between two houses and one library which is the shared space of houses. From lower level, space of each houses is continuous and transparent from south to north; to upper level, houses begin inserting into each other and library is the space flowing from ground to the sky and sharing houses with diversity views and light condition. The process is totally started with sectional imagination combining with programs and circulation, thus houses could be filled with more dynamic qualities.

INHABIT SPACE DESIGN
EXCERPT VOLUMES CRITIC: PETER STEMPEL FALL 2013
The project required to select a sublime slice from city and closely observe it. Eads Bridge is one of significant icons of St. Louis and the form and different scales of arches inspired me to develop imagination on it. After drawing 2d section of the excerption, we needed to find out the empty space hidden behind the drawing.
SECTION AND ELEVATION OF EADS BRIDGE
VOLUME TRANSFORMATION DIAGRAMS
UNFOLDED SECTIONS
I extruded the pure arch form to volumes, 3 dimentionally rotated arch to create dome spaces, squeezed and connected these two kinds of spaces to different inhabit scale. Use light as a basic tool to guide circulation and narrate different properties of spaces. The project did not specify the programmes, so you can reading, praying, wondering, sleeping even bathing in the inhabit place. Combining with existing texture of Bridge, light and shadow, various scales, you could easily define the function of each space as you want.
