Preparation For The KPMG Application Process 1) Situational Judgement Test You must complete this test within 7 days of being invited but we recommend you complete it ASAP. KPMG’s Situational Judgment Test is built to gain insight on your behavioural style at work. You will be facing questions based on potential courses of action in a specific scenario and must choose the answer that is ‘BEST’ and the one that is ‘WORST’. Take your time; there is no time limit so you should be taking a minimum of 5 minutes to answer each question. You don’t score points of racing through the questions and the pass rate for this test is surprisingly low. The test will only take around 30 minutes. The responses you provide will be assessed against the company’s key competencies criteria. Please have this document in front of you as you sit the situational judgement test, as all the following criteria will be covered in some way, though not necessarily in this order: 1. Working efficiently and delivering quality • Do ensure that quality of work is to the highest of standards and delivered on time • Don’t ignore assignments • Don’t complete work with incomplete information or instructions (reach out to the client to arrange a suitable time to discuss further if necessary) 2. Be an active and helpful part of your team • Do help team members if they struggle with their workload • Don’t sit idly if everyone else is busy – be proactive and offer help to the team • Don’t make your colleagues look bad to senior management – only escalate if no have no other option 3. Strive for continual improvement and seek feedback • Do ask for constructive feedback with respect to your work • Don’t stay passive assuming there is no room for improvement • Don’t be defensive and assume you have done the right thing if criticized 4. Seize business opportunities • Do be proactive in bringing new business opportunities to the company • Don’t disregard your current project for new business opportunities 5. Resilience • Do be prepared to work ‘flexible’ hours in order to keep up with deadlines and client requests • If in doubt stay late and work hard to complete tasks! • Don’t neglect projects in favour of personal engagements • Don’t palm off work onto others. 6. Client Satisfaction • Do ensure that all clients are happy all the time • Do seek feedback when appropriate • Don’t antagonise clients • Don’t bug the client unnecessarily • Don’t waste the client’s time and never do work without having all the information – this may be the only time where you would reach out to the client to arrange a suitable time to find out the information you require 7. Integrity ● This is a consistent theme that comes out during most questions. Always strive to do the right thing ● Don’t be deceitful and be as honest as possible in the way you deal with clients and colleagues Usually the most effective responses will favour a proactive approach in the face of challenges, and will include potential solutions to the problems at hand.
