Do You Worry About Ageing?
Having fun and a sense of purpose are keys to staying forever young!
Recently, when on a cruise, I was delighted to observe several of the passengers who were no spring chickens really enjoying themselves whether on board or during our tours ashore. While some had apparent physical limitations that prevented them from participating in various activities, their attitude to maxing their journey was inspiring. As someone who loves to dance I could not help but notice that each evening there was a woman who was also obviously having a great time as she waltzed, stepped out in a foxtrot or swayed to the strains of a samba in the arms of one of the ship’s hosts. Although stooped and a little frail, she was on the floor for almost every number with her hair coiffed and wearing dresses that flattered her petite figure. While I knew that she would likely be 80 or more, I was astounded after watching her do a demanding version of the tango to be told that she had recently celebrated her 99th birthday!
In an earlier insight I mentioned an amazing man who at the age of 93 contacted my consultancy seeking to meet a partner given that his wife who we had introduced to him in 1977 had recently died. However, as he was currently studying for a PhD and lecturing, he advised that he was so busy that did not want us to call him until late in an afternoon. He added that he intended to work for another 14 years. Amazing! Both will help you to realize that it is savoring each moment with good company that matters, not the passage of time.
