GOOGLE WORKSHOP
Our challenge is that we should use google tool which anyone was given us to solve a real world problem. Our google tool is Google Map. and Our real world problem is Petty crime in big cities. At the first, Our goup reserached what petty crime we have in big cities, we found so many funny results. Finally, supermarket be stolen problem is our choice. there is a system online is we can check how many crime occured around us online. therefore, Our idea is the same as the system.

COLLIDE WORKSHOP This work shop is also good for my FMP, I am interested so much. There are 2 part. The 1st part There are two groups icon were given you, then cut them and recombination. The 2nd part We got a picture and a word that teacher hand out, We should put the picture that teacher hand out and yours picture together to describe and explain the word We have to figure our imagination to create a great work.
13
COLLIDE WORKSHOP In the 1st Part I created 6 recombination icons, There are “lollipop” “shoes-car” “non-eye man” ect. This part can improve our creativity. we can use the same method in our FMP.
14
The 2nd part I got a madam picture and Mutate word. and Thousand-hand bodhisattva is mine. So my idea is cut the gold part from mine picture paste on the teeth. therefore, I can explain the mutate word The madam’s teeth mutated gold teeth.

One day, I watched Thousand-hand Bodhisattva dance, I am special shock. These dancers are deaf, I would like to know them. I am interested in how did they achieve the high coopreate degree.
There is a dancet particular attract me. The Thousand-hand Bodhisattva dance is a kind of Chinese classical dance. It shot to fame at the 2005 China Central Television (CCTV) Spring Festival Gala in Beijing. In fact, before it remains a household name in China, it had been known by the world. Its debut is on September 28, 2004 at the Closing Ceremony of the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games The original of the thousand hands dance performed by
21 hearing impaired girls and boys with the China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe (CDPPAT). In order to allow actors to feel the rhythm of the music, accurately while shots, the director Jigan Zhang use of sign language teacher to transmit information for the performers. At the performances, there are four sign language teachers standing on four angles. The teachers’ hands become the deaf actors’ “ears” and the sign language convey the rhythm of the music.

After reserach the background of the Thousand-hand Bodhisattva dance, The deaf are the group that need we to be focus on. Therefore, The deaf dancer is my target group. The first at all, I think about what can I create for daef, which part I am interested in? There are four directions I can investigate.

Every direction I have reserached, Actually, In our life, The chance of meeting the deaf is limited. Therefore, I think an idea for communication with deaf is unnecessary. and Helping people to protact ear, I just think I can make a hand book to publicity, but It is limited that only me achieve it. However, I focus on helping deaf to enjoy music.
The first question is How can I help them to feel or enjoy the music. Actually they cannot use special method to listen music, But they can feel in visual and tactile to enjoy the feeling that music could give people. What is music, what is the function of music, Why deaf should feel music.
24
ic? Music’s Functions MUSIC Music is an important ingredient in our daily lives. Its value depends on our purposes, whether for celebrations, rituals, rites, and/or special occasions. AESTHETICS It provides a sense of achievement, happiness and satisfaction. It is very personal and intimate. No two listeners have equally the same emotional response. Its melody, rhythm, tone color, lyrics, and harmony are a unique experience. EMOTIONAL APPEAL It helps in the release of emotions and in the expression of one’s feelings through the lines of a song or the melodic movement of an instrumental piece. NATIONALISTIC FERVOR It is an effective means to develop
nationalism, strengthen national discipline, and transmitting cultural values, history and oral traditions. It facilitates understanding other cultural values. ARTISTIC FORMS AND ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES It is used to convey ideas. It elevates the level of artistry of performers. MEDIUM BETWEEN GOD AND PEOPLE It is used to communicate with God. It is used to glorify and worship the Supreme Being. COMPARISON IN WORK It keeps workers inspired to do their best in their tasks. A FORM OF ENTERTAINMENT It provides entertainment for different occasions, celebrations, and programs. It helps to uncover musical talents. It allows appreciation of musical skills.

melodies--allowing the hearing immpaired to full enjoy music for the first time. The experience is fleshed out even more with the innovative use of LED light that change color and brightness along with the muisc.

And tutor gave me some suggestions, which is the bone conduction. Nowadays, there are many bone conduction product in the market, It is the method for deaf listening. but it cannot for all deaf. The sounds can be transformed into electrical signals which are transmitted to the brain. Even though the bone conduction is more effective, it will be useless if the tympanic membrane of the deaf is deficient. Only if when the electrical signals are transmitted to the brain directly, it will be effective. It is similar to the situation in which any kinds of glasses will not help the blind but changing the crystalline lens. Therefore, visual and tactile is the best method for deaf.

Comfirm aim Actually, music is not necessities for all deaf, therefore , I should help deaf who must have music to feel music, like that It is more meaningful for my work. however, I shrink my target group from deaf to deaf who love dance. Therefore My project’s aim is to help deaf dancer to easily learn a dance.

After confirm my target group, I began to reserach information about deaf dancer, and watched a video about the background’s story of deaf dancer. and know more about how did they learn.
Actually it’s hard for deaf to dance, there is no sound in their word, But music is vital for dance and the highly cooperation degree was requried for group dance , Because the dance movement need to be synchronized. Therefore, I reserached them and think about some questiones. How did they learn a dance? How didi they done? How many days they need to learn a dance? How did they overcome diffculties? I know more about daef dancer after I chat with a deputy and producer director of Beijing disable art troup and watched a video about the back-
ground story of the deaf dancer. They learn to dance by following the drum beats others are playing. After the acoustic vibration travels to the ground, the dancers feel it with thier feet, as they can feel and pick up the sound vibrations coming from the floor. And Psychological guidance is often required by deaf dancers, they have no-confident and they can not turst themselves. Therefore, there are many problems with deaf dancer and I can have a idea to help them slove their diffculty in dancing or sweep up the challenges in learning to dance.

The teacher said: “If I clap my hands, they aren’t able to hear those sounds, But through the beat of the drum their feet can feel and pick up the vibrations from the floor, helping to interpret the beat, through this method, they can learn the dance. This was not acomplished within one or two days, At first, they would just stare me, and that affacted the learning process. we want to the dancer to rely less on our direction. By incorporating the rhythm into their movement, they learned to dance” fluently.

Ziyu Liu deputy head producer director of Beijing disable art troup
1,At present, what measures does the school take to teach the deaf dancing? The first is to understanding the beat, By touching the sound of vibration to understand the beat, and then through small games and other ways to understand the concept of eight step, Follow the sound to long-term repeated practice eight steps, and put this beat in the dance moves, At the very begining, It takes almost one days to practice one eight-step. The second is to know music, in rehearsal dance programs, try to communicate and tell the emotion of the performer’s music and the content of the program in dance and body language rather than in signlanguage. 2,Do the deaf think that the current measures are not so good? As far as I know, these is only one deaf art school run by China Disaabled person’ Federation in China and basic dance training for deaf people is being carried out. However, the traning of our art troup is mainly aimed at deaf graduates and complete rehearsal of the show.
3,Which part of the body does the deaf feel the most sensitive? Eyes and hands 4,Does the dancing teaching for the deaf have a systematic teaching mode? Let deaf people understanding things that have never been touched or not conceptualized like sounds and so on, We’ll transform it into ways they can understand like vision and touch, For example, they can not understand the level of sound, we will make the sound visible and ladder-shaped, so that they can understand it. 5,Is there any music rhythm training course? Yes, Touching the sound vibration and beat practice games mentioned above are held for a long time. 6,Do any professional teachers engaged in dancing teaching for the deaf know sign language and understand psychology? Teachers must have both of these abilities.

The first idea come to my mind is to create a product helping deaf dancer to easily learn a dance and they can feel the sound vibrations and beat by themselevs without drum.
36
Initial Idea My initial idea is to design a vibrations ring and connect an app, the app can help music that any you want to transfer rhythm and
beat, then the ring will shake along with the rhythm and beat, so that all deaf dancer can feel rhythm and beat by themselves.

Therefore, I have to develop my idea.
TEST
After tutorial, tutor advise me to buy a vibrate toy and take out the vibrate machine, put on the hand or feet and test what is the feeling. I tried it, but I found this vibrate is not vibrate that I wanna, and I cannot control the machine when I hold it, I cannot do my movement.

Then, I wanna know whether where part of our body can feel it, I tried on my leg, feet, the back of my hand, hand palm. Unfortunately, our hand palm is the most senstive, Other parts cannot feel obviously, Therefore, I think I can create a vibrate glove instead of ring, The glove’s feeling of the rhythm is absoultly stronger than ring.

Create a rhythm feeling product to helpe deaf dancer’s problem is not enough, they have some problems in psychologically, and it is not beat deaf can dance at good level, If I wanna help deaf dance independtly I have more thing need to explor. I sent email to teacher for interview, Why music is improtant for dance ? and what is the emotion change they have when they learn a dance? The teacher told me , the first
44
reason of music is improtant for dance is beat, which is a method help them to know when should I change movement. could be synchronized, the second reason is some type of music have story, emotion, dancer have to know the emotion of the music to dancing, dance is a language, If dance describle a right emotion, audience could recieved the emotion from the dancing. Actully, at the beginning deaf dancer have no confident, they have psychology lesson for them. help them to improve confidence.
Functions of the APP Feeling rhythm and beat by yourself

The V Glove can be connected to the app. It will vibrate along with the music that you have chosen when you enter the learning page and press the start button. You can feel rhythm by yourself without the beat of drum by others.
There are a variety of positive posters on the screen when you open the app.
Growth recording You can make your own plan for a dance, estimating how many days it will take and when you finish one day’s work, you will gain the medals.
Celebrity Case Page can show how they have overcome difficulties.
Understanding the song emotion The background of the dance song is displayed on every learning main page.

A method help deaf dancer to remember dance movement and music’s construction
Vibration Code The whole dance movements are of great importance, but each of them can be conducted in a logic way. Generally speaking, a dance is divided into several sections, each of which is made up of series of dance movements. The movements of each section is often repeated or some subtle changes. It is easy for the average persons to understand the whole structures when they hear the divided music sections, as the dance sections are divided based on the music sections. However, it is a tough task for the deaf people. To help the deaf people understand all of
46
the sections , a vibration code is set at every part of the music. For example, the dance Nobody is made up of four sections: Prelude, Section 1, Section 2, Section 3 and the repeated Section 1 followed by Section 1 to Section 3. The settings is: Each section is set with a vibration code, that is to say. The first three sections are set with three codes with the repeated vibration code in the repeated sections. The dancers takes up the corresponding movements after feeling the vibration code. This helps them get the hang of the music structures as well as reminding them to keep the required movements in minds.
Operation approaches: Click the learning sections on the learning interface, and you will grasp every section’s movements by the video. In addition to the gloves which vibrates with the music, the subtitles with the digital meters are also provided on the video to help the users master the rhymes. Vibration code button is set below the video interpretation for each section’s move ments.
Click the vibration code, and the glove will give out the corresponding vibration form. Different vibrations represent the different sections. When the same vibration occurs, the dancers will understand the arrival of the repeated sections. After practicing repeatedly, the dancer will know well the music structures and the corresponding movements.

Although there are some people that cannot hear the music, they have never abandoned their love and pursuit of dancing It is hard for the deaf to dance to the music, therefore I explore their practical problem and inner world to help them solve this difficulty. V glove is a product which helps deaf dancers to study dancing in a more efficient way. The V glove can play music and allows users to feel the acoustic vibrations through the glove palm which uses the principle of acoustic vibrations so that the deaf dancers can dance to the music’s beat. There are three sensors set at the center of the glove palm, it amplifies the vibrations so that the users can feel rhythms more clearly. In addition, V gloves are also equipped with Bluetooth and an app called Silent Dancer which helps users select the music. Moreover, V gloves also have some other functions which encourage the deaf to pursue their dreams and give them the confidence to dance. Whenever the app is switched
on, various encouraging words will appear on the screen, inspiring the deaf people and making them more confident. Click the upper left of the logo, and you’ll see the function interface where you can get connected with your V gloves via Bluetooth. Then you can click celebrity case to enter the interface where you will be provided with a number of stories on how to overcome difficulties. The deaf will be filled with inspiration and fortitude so that they can face challenges and difficulties. Next, go back to the homepage. You can choose your favorite music and enter the learning interface. Each dance is set according to the user’s own plan based on several parts of the phased learning progress. In this way, users can estimate their learning period and be awarded a prized medal for their daily achievement. It is important for a dancer to better understand emotional background of the music. Therefore, the learning interface also offers the text introduction that interprets the chosen music while it’s playing in the background.

Thank you for reading my process book. This book mainly records the whole process of researching, thinking and realizing of my final major project design.
92
The reason of theme selection FMP design will be the final work of my undergraduate study, and I hope to show my strength. Therefore, I have been hesitant about what theme to choose for a long time and have also changed it several times under the guidance of the teacher. From the second year on, I gradually came into contact with problem-solving design. I learned how individuals or groups can develop a creative design and what the whole set of processes is like. Therefore, I think that the FMP is supposed to be based on the theme of helping people to solve problems. Thus, I chose deaf people who love dancing, so that I can help them learn to dance and feel the beats and rhythms independently, so as to help them learn dancing better. Why did I choose deaf people who love dancing? The reason is that I want to explore the possibility
of deaf people listening to music, but not all deaf people need to hear the music. However, deaf people who love to dance must have music, rhythms and beats, since dance and music are inseparable. Based on the above reasons, finally deaf dancers became our target group.
Investigation summary First of all, let’s talk about the research process. During my exploration, I started from many aspects. First of all, I surveyed and interviewed deaf dancers’ teachers about how they usually learn to dance and tried to find out the problems and inconveniences they are faced with, so as to find a breakthrough for an innovative design to provide them with better methods. Secondly, the relationship between music and dance was investigated. Only by truly understanding music and dancing can we think of a better way. Besides, I also sought to know about the dancers themselves, as well as
their characteristics, thoughts and behaviors. When attempting to design a new product, we often need to explore the users’ psychology and behavior, and obtain more valuable information from the analysis. So most of the functions of the app were oriented towards the psychological aspects. In fact, the R&D process still witnessed a lot of trouble. Though many people were interviewed, some of them were unwilling to talk about themselves with outsiders. As a result, the information I could obtain is rather limited. I think that if we can spend time living with them and probe into their lives and study, it will be more helpful to my research and my design will be better. Despite this, I have tried my best to make my FMP design as satisfactory as possible.
Design and production summary
process, many of which were overruled. And finally I chose product and UI design. My interest lies in this field, so I learned, via the Internet, how to use AE to do dynamic UI design. During the process, I also learned a lot of new techniques of AE production, which would also help me in my future work. I’m very satisfied with the video production, as much progress has been made. And it took a lot of experiments and research before I decided on gloves. The most sensitive, effective and useful body part of deaf people is the palm. As far as my current study is concerned, gloves are the most effective to help them feel the rhythms. The whole design proved really effective after being tested, and I think it is a product that can help deaf dancers. Of course, there are still defects in the product and the app. With deeper survey and more functions added, it would definitely be a great product.
Overall summary This is a process of producing as well as learning. Through this FMP design, I also learned new knowledge, both in terms of research methods and in terms of software design. I am quite satisfied with the three-year undergraduate study. I think my FMP design will put a perfect end to my undergraduate study, but this is not the end, but a brand-new beginning.
In addition, I came up with a lot of ideas during the design 93
