PRISON HEROES 101
THE HEROES GO TO PRISON!
“I have read all of the books that you have sent, and because of those stories I have found the purpose of my life. I have been tremendously inspired by them.” Juan, (Wisconsin inmate) “I have read your book about Corrie Ten Boom and it has greatly changed my outlook! The book has opened my eyes and my heart so that I want to live my life as an example of love.” Richard, (Indiana inmate)
You are making a difference! Full cases of 64 Christian Hero books in English and Spanish have now been sent to over 1,000 prisons!! To date you have funded the placement of 1,089 cases (64 books each) to 1,089 prisons. I know it’s already been stated, but with each prison averaging around 1,000 inmates, you have now made this powerful series of life-changing Christian biographies available to over 1 MILLION felony convicted inmates! The testimonies continue to come in. We know that the books are being broadly read from death-row maximum security prisons to juvenile facilities, by both men and women who are reading them in their first language. Each book has been stamped with followup/contact information, inviting the readers to participate in a one-on-one discipleship/ Bible-study correspondence program. • $77.10 will deliver 64 Christian Heroes: Then & Now titles to one US prison (only $1.19 per book) • The total project goal is to place book sets in all 1,534 prisons (x $77.10 = $118,271) • Tax-deductible receipts will be provided
4 | CALL TO ORDER:
We are very encouraged by all of your generous financial support of this worthwhile project, and grateful to all the volunteers who have helped us rubber stamp, pack and prepare the nearly 70,000 books so far. We are able to subsidize these books, bringing the cost down to $1.19 per book (delivered to each prison). However, we still need your continued help to place these remarkable books in the hands of thousands more who need to know they can enter into a living relationship with Jesus Christ. Many have supported this with onetime gifts, as well as monthly reoccurring gifts (a prison-a-month arrangements). We have also had requests to ship to specific prisons where an acquaintance or loved-one is incarcerated. Upon request you can be notified which prison your gift has funded to facilitate your specific and targeted prayers. Please join us in this high-traction ongoing outreach. OUTREACH OPPORTUNITY
THE HEROES GO TO CUBA!
For years we have unsuccessfully been looking for an opportunity to get Spanish language Christian Hero biographies into Cuba. That door has finally opened! In partnership with Action International Ministries, the printing, and distribution of Christian Heroes: Then & Now titles is now taking place in CUBA! Brian Stewart, Action’s Cuba Director, writes, “Christian books are scarce in Cuba, and when available they are normally reserved for pastors. To have these books available for teens and college students is an amazing blessing! We are grateful to YWAM for this opportunity.”
Due to Cuba’s isolation over the past decades, believers there understand ‘missionaries’ to be church-planters within their culture. They are not aware of the rich cross-cultural missions history of the Church outside their borders.
“Names that are well-known to us, such as William Carey, George Muller, Hudson Taylor, and David Livingstone, are unknown in Cuba,” Stewart says. “So, the richness of those lives and testimonies has not been available for them to learn from, and be inspired by.” 300 copies of “George Muller” and 300 copies of “Hudson Taylor” have already been printed and distributed in Cuba, and there are plans to print thousands more (plus additional titles from the Christian Heroes: Then & Now series) in the coming months. Please consider joining with us in this important project. Your gift of only $3 per book will challenge readers to a deeper and living walk with God, plant the seed of world missions in this isolated country, and impact the lives of many as each book will have multiple readings as it is passed by hand from reader to reader.
100% of your tax-deductible gift will be directed to this long-awaited opportunity. Please mention Cuba when you donate to this program. You can also donate online. Click the “Outreach Project” tab on our website’s home page.

CHRISTIAN HEROES Janet & Geoff Benge The thousands of islands scattered across the Pacific Ocean were home to fierce warriors and cannibals who sacrificed their children to the many gods they worshiped. John Williams (1796-1839) dedicated his life to bringing the message of Christ’s love and peace to these brutal islands. In the face of constant danger, he discipled and inspired Polynesians to go as missionaries to their neighbors, ultimately giving his life to see the gospel spread across the vast Pacific. JOHN NEWTON (1725–1807)
Each wave stressed the damaged ship, and John wondered how long she could last. He had often imagined how he might die. Perhaps it would be from some tropical disease in Africa or from wounds he received in a brawl with another seaman. Now John was sure he knew. He was about to drown in the North Atlantic Ocean, gone with no trace. John Newton’s life was in a downward spiral. Impressed into the Royal Navy, John clashed with his fellow seamen and even became a servant alongside slaves in West Africa. When he found himself on a sinking ship, he called out to God for help.

BENJAMIN RUSH (1746–1813)
Ben thought about the strange course of events that had led him to this point in his life. He had considered being a lawyer but had ended up becoming a doctor, and now he was also a politician and member of the Continental Congress. Ben had never thought of working with the army. But for now, that was what he was doing. He wondered if he too might be called to die for the new country they were trying to forge.
NEW
Filled with intelligence and devotion, Benjamin Rush eagerly took up numerous roles as a physician, surgeon general in the army, politician, educator, and writer. A signer of the Declaration of Independence and close friend of John Adams, he made lasting contributions to American society. Born in Pennsylvania, Rush studied medicine with some of the greatest doctors in America and Europe. He was outspoken about improving the conditions and treatment of wounded soldiers and was a lifelong champion of medical care for the poor and freedom for slaves, becoming one of the greatest American physicians and social reformers in history. e-book AVAILABLE
