LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear YWCA Friends and Supporters, The YWCA’s motto is “eliminating racism, empowering women,” a commitment we have embraced throughout YWCA Central Massachusetts’ long history. This is more than a phrase—it’s embedded in the fabric of our organization. We are proud of our long history of serving the community and advocating for racial and gender equity, and we will continue to do so for many years to come. To ensure the YWCA’s longevity and our ability to respond to the changing needs of our community, we have spent the last few years strategically planning for a successful future. As I conclude my term as Board President, I am excited to share some highlights with you.
“To all of you who believe in the YWCA’s mission of peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all, thank you for sharing your compassion and courage, and for joining the YWCA on this meaningful mission. Our success would not be possible without you.”
The YWCA’s Board of Directors and staff have been planning for a significant renovation of our One Salem Square facility. This renovation is necessary to provide a revitalized facility that meets the needs of all of our programs. It will also establish a more visible YWCA presence in the downtown Worcester community. To support this building renovation, the YWCA has begun a Capital Campaign—our first in more than 25 years! Conversations have affirmed the critical role that the YWCA plays in the community and have highlighted the outstanding leadership that Linda Cavaioli has provided during her time as Executive Director. We want to take this opportunity to let more people know about the work of the YWCA and to support our mission, whether it’s through a financial donation, volunteering, or referring someone to our services.
Now more than ever, we have the opportunity and the power to change the things we can’t accept. To all of you who believe in the YWCA’s mission of peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all, thank you for sharing your compassion and courage, and for joining the YWCA on this meaningful mission. Our success would not be possible without you. Together we will continue to use our collective voices to champion issues that bring positive change to our communities. We will continue to stand up against all forms of discrimination and hate, and we will continue to support and promote the inclusion of marginalized individuals and groups. It has been my honor to serve as Board President for the past two years, and although my time on the Board is ending, my love and support for the YWCA is ongoing. I hope you will join me in continuing your support of this outstanding organization and in celebrating the YWCA’s successes and achievements in the years to come. Though the Salem Square building might soon look different, our commitment to serving women, children, and families in Central Massachusetts and advancing racial and gender equity will always remain.
Micki Davis, Board President
