Olympus E-PL1 Review PHOTOGRAPHY BLOG - NEWS

MAR 04, 2010 12:25P.M.

WD SiliconDrive N1x MAR 05, 2010 06:00A.M.

Small cameras with big sensors are set to be the future of photography at least, that’s what Olympus think as they introduce the E-PL1, their brand new PEN camera for the mass-market. Cheaper, smaller, lighter and easier to use than most rival models, the Olympus E-PL1 is firmly aimed at frustrated compact camera owners who crave more control and better results, but who are put off by bulky and complicated DSLRs. The full-featured E-PL1 should also appeal to experienced prosumers looking for a cheaper way into Micro Four Thirds. Read the World’s first online Olympus E-PL1 review to find out if it strikes the right balance between affordability and functionality.

WD has announced that the company is shipping its new high performance WD SiliconDrive N1x 2.5-inch solid state drive family. Read more and comment »

Aurora Borealis in Northern Norway.

Yassine Ouhilal captures surfer Cheyne Cottrell riding an icy wave amidst the snow-capped mountains of Norway’s Arctic. This shot was taken around 11 PM due to the high latitude and prevailing midnight sun. Photographer Yassine Ouhilal, known as “Yazzy,” recently traveled to Norway’s Arctic Circle for a surfing expedition feature with Outside magazine. In Norway, Yazzy was also able to shoot for Eddie Bauer, who sponsored the trip. He produced a documentary while traveling that is posted on YouTube, and which has been seen in 200 countries.

This memorial for Canadian Folk Artist, Maud Lewis, is made of stainless steel sheets with lights shining from within.

Following a custom in surfing culture, Pat Millin named this “spot” Whitmills after he became the first surfer to ride a wave at this location.

The dark rocks and vegetation of Iceland’s interior absorb heat, unlike ice and snow, which would normally reflect it back to the atmosphere. This is a contributing factor in the increased global temperatures.

The glacier’s last dance: giant icebergs flow into the lagoon and go out to sea where the action of waves, saltwater, and sun ultimately play the final note.
