All photos © Karen Glaser Karen Glaser, an experienced diver and photographer, takes us on a visual journey through Florida’s intricate underwater ecosystems. She captures the freshwater marshes, mangrove forests and acres of primeval swamp. Glaser’s Underwater images are published in the May/June 2010 issue of Orion, a twenty-eight-year-old bimonthly concerned with nature, culture, and everything in between. As stated in Orion, “Her landscape photography is shot underwater, capturing the unique natural light and life of this unfamiliar world. The mud and muck that is common to these waters may cloud their clarity, but it is their lifeblood—as Glaser describes it, ‘the living and breathing matter that seasons the soup and reflects, refracts, and bends the light to create its complexity.’ ” To see more from Karen Glaser’s project click here to view the audio visual slideshow.

One such timely reminder is the Eyjafjallajökull glacier eruption. It is the second volcanic eruption Iceland has seen within the scope of a month, and while its capacity for destruction and disruption is vast, it is considered a small eruption, and it has yet to claim a single human life. And it is absolutely wonderful to look at.”

One of two new G system models for 2010, the DMC-G10 attempts to bring all the benefits of the Micro Four Thirds system - smaller size and weight with comparable features and image quality to a fully-fledged DSLR - to a wider audience, with an aggressive price tag of £499 / $599 with the new 14-42mm kit lens. Dive into the depths of the Denver Art Museum’s photography collection in Exposure: Photos from the Vault. Featuring more than 50 photographs— including many works that are on view for the first time—the photography department’s premiere exhibition includes iconic images by Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus, Chuck Close and Garry Winogrand alongside recent acquisitions by Petah Coyne, Shirin Neshat and others. The show’s curator Eric Paddock says, “This selection from the DAM’s permanent collection includes perennial favorites as well as works no one has seen here before. Every person with a camera sees the world in a different way, and every photographer is on a path of exploration. The photographs in this exhibition are a sampling of the many ways photographers encounter the world—and show us what they discover.” Exposure: Photos from the Vault opens April 30, 2010 at the Denver Art Museum.
