Retail Design - 8 Week Project Lumion - Revit - Photoshop - Illustrator Project Goals: Infill an existing space in Los Angeles with a high end eyewear retail space. The project was to incorporate custom componets througout the space, while providing a service station, a 3D print room, and a pop in repair station.

-5-

A “reflected pathway was created by the custom lighting in reaction to the undulating walls flowing through the space.

Details Custom lighting was designed to mimic the undulating display wall, as well as attract attention from the exterior view. The lighting and wall design is meant to mediate the flow of consumers throughout the space.

Display Walls A custom pinewood display wall was designed to showcase the eyewear, while adding warmth and character to the space. The eyewear displays are backlit to highlight the glasses, while the dropped ceiling is recessed to allow cove lighting to shine down onto the slat walls.

-8-

Materiality The materials were selected to add neutral tones to the space, while providing focal attention to the eyewear on display. The wood slat wall and drop ceiling elements add pops of color and interest to the space, while the service tables and walls remained a neutral tone to provide a simple backdrop for consumers to view the selected eyewear.

-9-

Service and Waiting Area Without the use of walls, the service and lounge area are spatially separated by the use of suspended drop ceilings. The ceilings also signify key areas of the store, acting as a wayfinder.

- 10 -

Spatial Arrangement The service counter was placed in the center of the space to draw attention to the craft and precision of the technicians, while also separating the lounge and display space.

Restaurant Design - 8 Week Project Rhino - Revit - Photoshop - Illustrator Project Goals: Design a restaurant with the availablity to be a multi-use space during the day and night. With the attraction of featuring new and local artists monthly.

- 13 -

Display wall showing moveable arrangement of art, utilizing the tension spatial dividers.

Tension Display Walls The need for large amount of wall space to display art and the desire for a visually open space led to the design of the “tension walls. They allow art to be displayed and easily reconfigured, while adding a sense of spatial division within the space.

Art Display in a Restaurant Designing the space to function as a restaurant during the day and night, with the ability to transform into an art gallery led to the open spatial plan, as well as the primary concept of the design. The restaurant is able to be divided into sections to transform into an open art gallery, while still serving drinks and small bites from the bar.

Commercial Design - 12 Week Project Revit - Rhino - Photoshop - Illustrator Project Goals: Infill an exsiting space in Boston to fulfill programmatic requirements of a large law firm and support staff. The space was also to have a large conferencing center and employee kitchen with necessary amenities.

- 19 -

Flexible Spaces Designing multi-use spaces away from work zones maximized the available footprint, while also allowing for a privacy separation between clients and employees. The addition of the conference and hosting center allowed the firm to divide the space into public and private zones.

- 20 -

Level 1 The first level of the space hosts the reception, conference center, and two divisions of lawyers with support staff. The entry and lounge area is connected to the conference center to separate private and public zones within the space.

- 21 -

Level 2 The second level of the space is dedicated to an open floor plan broken up by law division. Breakaway ancillary spaces connect private offices, open workstations, and lounge spaces allowing for employee connections to happen throughout the work space.

- 22 -

Open Office with Privacy Blending an open office with the traditional values of a law firm, the spatial planning allows for light to penetrate into the office, while still providing privacy within the space. The connection of private offices, open offices, and ancillary spaces provide opportunity for moments of ideation between employees.

- 23 -

Employee Connections Throughout the office, employees have access to views into higher level offices. This grants privacy to the partners, while allowing employees to recognize if they are in the office. The layout also fosters collaboration between all levels of the law divisions.

Educational Design - 12 Week Project Revit - Lumion - Photoshop - Illustrator Project Goals: Update and expand an existing high school in Kansas City, Kansas. The group project was divided into 3 phases, each responsible for developing and adding upon the required program. The final outcome was to be a 5 year, 10 year, and 15 year plan to renovate and expand the school for future growth.

- 27 -

Phase 3 - School Addition The final stage of the project was an addition onto the school that included necessary classroom expansions, specialized classrooms, and improved school circulation. The addition also added two security checkpoints to reduce traffic build up within the school. The final design added 16 classrooms, exterior learning spaces, and ancillary teaching environments throughout the space.

Phase 1 5 Year Plan Tenant Improvements

Phase 2 10 Year Plan Interior Renovations

- 28 -

Phase 3 15 Year Plan School Expansion

Facade Design and Materiality The push and pull of the facade is a reaction to the spatial layout of the interior. The movement of the facade allowed for the addition of exterior learning environments and exterior ancillary spaces, connecting the school to the outside environment as much as possible.

- 29 -

Level 0 The introduction of the bus-loop drop off provided a protective area for students to wait when going through security, while maximizing spatial usage of the existing site. The addition of the security vestibule on this side of the school will reduce pinch points, add a new school entrance, and provide public and private zoning within the school for after school programs.

GREEN SPACE

ENTRANCE FROM EXISTING BUILDING

Level 1 Pulling the program away from the glass and creating large, ancillary spaces provided the opportunity to create classrooms that opened up into the school for extended use. The classroom furniture was selected to be easily moved, allowing further use of the open school design and increasing the opportunity to implement 21st century teaching methods into the school.

Level 2 Expanding to the exterior, level two hosts additional classrooms, ancillary spaces, and open learning environments throughout the space. Flexible classrooms are connected by a central path of circulation and ancillary zones, granting views of the spaces from within the classrooms.

- 32 -

Level 3 Specialized classrooms for medical and botany programs were implemented into level three. Ancillary study spaces are centralized to provide natural light into the classroom environments. The addition of a roof garden will supplement the expanded botany programs and provide a further sense of connection to the exterior environment.

Extended Classroom Spaces Providing ancillary furniture between classrooms with moving Nano-walls allowed for the opportunity of classrooms to expand and create additional learning spaces without defined walls.

- 34 -

- 35 -

Bus Loop Drop-Off and Facade The addition of the bus loop drop-off provided necessary room for classroom expansions, while solving the issue of security pinch points during morning and afternoon peaks of traffic. The facade was designed to patina with time, harmonizing with the existing materials of the site. The exterior balconies provide space for independant and teacher led learning.

- 36 -

Open Classrooms Ancillary classrooms were designed to be used by students throughout the day. The spaces may also be reserved by faculty or guests teachers to act as a traditional classroom.

- 37 -

Ancillary Spaces in Site Placed around the circulation and within site of classrooms, ancillary furniture is layered throughout the school to allow students to find an area that fits their learning style best, while still being within sight of faculty.
