Theatre Education not only trains the next generation of actors, artists, and theatre goers, it trains the next generation of people. Theatre teaches everyone to be more confident, creative, empathetic, and connected. These are principles ZACH works diligently to uphold in our camps and classes. Broadway Kids
Using acting exercises, art projects, and imagination, students read a story and create their own version as an ensemble. On the last day, family and friends are invited to a demonstration showcasing favorite acting exercises and stories. Choose from:

These exciting camps are for actors ready to dive into their training. Students create characters, build ensemble, and use their voice to project and articulate while having fun exploring new skills.
Students who love to sing, dance, and act, discover what being a “Triple Threat” is all about. Students learn theatre games, character development, voice and dance technique, and showcase their skills in a musical theatre revue.
Students focus on a variety of dance styles, and have fun learning vocabulary and technique in ballet, jazz, musical theatre, and tap. Students also learn how to execute fun choreography in each style.

Acting Camps
Dance Intensive
Students learn the skills required of a musical theatre ensemble. Each day begins with exercises focused on acting the song, voice, and dance. The rest of the day focuses on the rehearsal process, employing all skills at the same time. Camps culminates in a musical revue.
Geared for students ready to take their training to the next level, these camps focus on specific skills needed to master the genres below while continuing to build on acting technique, creating characters, and building ensemble.
Students move through rotations of a variety of dance styles and dive into more challenging vocabulary, technique, and material in ballet, jazz, hip hop, musical theatre, and tap.

OFF SITE: Script To Screen Ages 13 - 18 • July 10 - 14 • $350 Students study acting for the camera and star in a film written and directed by Austin Film Festival students. The hands-on workshop teaches the foundation of production as students collaborate on short digital video projects and focus on story structure, writing, direction, camera operation, sound, and editing, in genres from horror to comedy and everything in between. Working with professional directors, designers, and artists, students apply classroom training to the stage, learn rehearsal process and etiquette, and the discipline of performance. A play is a big commitment. Students should attend every rehearsal (conflicts must be listed at time of audition), meet memorization deadlines, and come to rehearsal prepared for the day.

Friday, March 31 • 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1 • 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. Summer shows require a general audition. Students will choose one monologue from a list provided by the auditioners. Schedule an audition time at zachtheatre.org/education/camps.
Friday, April 7 • 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Some actors may be asked back to a second round of auditions for individual plays. Auditioners should indicate availability for callbacks at the audition. Not being called back does not mean students are not cast.
Students cast in Summer Shows will be notified no later than Wednesday, April 12. Those cast must register with a $100 deposit by Wednesday, April 19 to hold a spot. If deposits are not made by Wednesday, April 19, the spot will be released.

After a malicious student starts a rumor about her teachers, a witch-hunt follows, destroying the women’s relationships, careers, and lives.

By William Shakespeare Directed by Kevin Gates and Shannon Fox Grades 4 - 12 • $600 A story of mistaken identities and love at first sight, this is the original romantic comedy. During a storm, twins Viola and Sebastian are separated. Viola falls in love with Duke Orsino and disguises herself as a man to enter his services. Confusion and misplaced love abound, told through poetic soliloquy and hilarious farce.

When do we need a safety net to catch us? How can we be safe with friends and dating partners, and can communities be safety nets for individuals? Using creative writing, movement, and digital media, students create a performance exploring ideas of safety and support for themselves, peers, and community.

• Camps are held Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. unless noted. • Early care from 8:30 - 9 a.m. Tuesday-Friday, and extended care from 4 - 5:30, Monday-Thursday is available for an additional fee. • Grades listed refer to the grade students will enter in fall of 2017.
Deposits and Discounts
A $60 deposit is required to hold your place ($100 for Summer Shows). Balance is due on the third of the month your camp takes place. Multi-Class Discount: Receive 5% off tuition when registering for two or more classes or students at the same time. ZACH Season Subscriber Discount: Subscribers to ZACH’s productions receive 5% off tuition.

H•E•B Summer Scholarships
• Cancellations less than 2 weeks before class starts will not be refunded except in case of illness or emergency.
Through a generous sponsorship from H•E•B, ZACH is committed to access for all students and will work with any family to make participation possible. Reduced tuition is offered to families seeking assistance. A $25 deposit per class is required for application. Complete the application form at zachtheatre.org/education. For full consideration, apply by June 1, 2017.
