1 | A 14 CARAT YELLOW GOLD COMMEMORATIVE EMPRESS “SISSI” LAPEL PIN WITH 0.1 CARAT DIAMONDS Austria, second half of 19th century. Illegible maker’s mark and Austrian gold import mark “A”. This lapel pin was originally gifted from Elisabeth, Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary, popularly known today as “Sissi”, as a gift of merit for services to the monarchy. The top of the pin shows an “S” with a crown on top, a clear symbol of the empress known for her youth and exceptional beauty, set with rose-cut diamonds with a total weight of approximately 0.1 carats.

The brooch has an octagonal shape with a blue enamel plate framed by rose-cut diamonds and showing a floral composition of further diamonds in the center, with a total diamond weight of approximately 0.5 carats. The antique brooch made from gilt silver has an oval shape and is set with five emeralds forming a cross, the central gemstone surrounded by pearls. There are four more pearls set around the edges of the brooch within enamel segments forming flowers and further gilt and enamel segments show flowers all around the brooch. Austria, around 1915. Hallmarked “585” and with a fox head mark, used between 1872 and 1922. The clasp, needle and outer segments of this thin bar-shaped brooch are made from 14 carat rose gold while the central segment is made from 14 carat white gold and is set with a line of four brilliants, each within a separate square white gold segment, flanked on either side by three smaller rose-cut diamonds each, with a total diamond weight of approximately 1 carat.

The brooch is made from white gold and shaped like a star, with ‘rays’ of white gold emanating from behind the starshaped element in the center set with sixteen rose and old-cut diamonds and holding a pearl in the center. 36 | A VAN CLEEF & ARPELS STYLE GOLD BRACELET WITH 11 CARATS OF EMERALDS AND DIAMONDS New York c. 1940, inscribed ‘V. C. A. N. Y.’ on the clasp. Bearing a standard ‘Double Safety’ locking mechanism at the backside. Elegantly gadrooned heart shaped links 18 carat of yellow gold are followed by arrays of almost flawless emeralds and brilliant cut diamonds, weighing a total of c. 11 carats, the diamonds with Top Wesselton color grades and a clarity range from VVSI to VSI. A total of 56 stones have been assembled to build eight groups, each meticulously held 18 carat white gold by prong settings. It is known that VCA made several versions of this bracelet, with numbers of stones ranging from 30 at the minimum and 56 at the maximum.
