Ravenor Primary School

Empowering young minds

We are a three-form entry school with up to 30 children in each class, comprising two Nursery classes (FS1), three Reception classes (FS2), six Key Stage 1 classes (KS1), and twelve Key Stage 2 classes (KS2).

In 2013, we unveiled a state-of-the-art building that complements our main facilities, which opened in 2004. Nestled in picturesque surroundings, our modern and stimulating environment provides a platform for children to thrive, ensuring their potential is fully realized as they embark on their educational journey.

Ravenor is more than just a school—it’s a vibrant community where pupils, parents, and educators come together to learn, grow, and thrive. With its welcoming atmosphere and inclusive ethos, Ravenor fosters meaningful connections and lifelong friendships that extend far beyond the school gates.

Discover the convenience and appeal of Ravenor Primary School, a place where openness meets excellence, and every child’s journey is celebrated and supported.

Welcome to Ravenor Primary School!

It is my utmost pleasure to extend a heartfelt welcome to each and every member of our school community. Whether you’re a returning pupil, a new family joining us for the first time, or a dedicated educator embarking on another exciting academic year, I am thrilled to have you with us.

At Ravenor, we believe in the power of education to transform lives and shape futures. Our school is more than just a place of learning—it’s a stimulating community where pupils are encouraged to dream big, realise their hopes and goals, and embrace every opportunity for growth and discovery.

Learning begins at home and so working closely with families is of the utmost importance to us at Ravenor. Before our pupils start with us, we visit them at home to gain a better understanding of their own environment and in turn, ensure that we are well prepared to support them to make the transition into Ravenor a smooth, enjoyable and memorable one. This very personalised approach carries on throughout our pupils’ learning journey at Ravenor.

As Headteacher, I am committed to promoting an environment of excellence, collaboration, resilience, inclusivity, and mutual respect. Together with our dedicated team of educators, we strive to provide a nurturing and supportive atmosphere where every child feels valued, inspired, and empowered to reach their full potential.

I invite you to embark on this journey with us, as we set out on a quest for knowledge, creativity, and personal growth. Whether it’s through exciting lessons in the classroom, engaging extracurricular activities, or meaningful community initiatives, there’s something here for everyone at Ravenor.

I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you and working together to keep Ravenor as the place where every child thrives, succeeds and shines.

Welcome to Ravenor Primary School—where learning knows no bounds, and possibilities are endless!

Happy, safe and academically challenged in the classroom

Thriving, Secure, and Intellectually Stimulated: Nurturing Our Pupil’s Growth

At our school, we champion the fundamental right of every child to flourish in a safe and nurturing educational setting. We uphold a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of harm, ensuring that both adults and fellow pupils foster an environment conducive to learning and wellbeing. Should any behaviour compromise this ethos, it is addressed promptly in accordance with our school’s Behaviour Policy.

For over a decade, Place2Be, a renowned children’s mental health charity, has been an integral part of our school community. Through their dedicated support, children at Ravenor Primary have had a safe space to explore their emotions, express themselves through art, play, or dialogue, and develop coping mechanisms to navigate

life’s challenges. This invaluable resource empowers our pupils to maintain healthy friendships, excel in their studies, and cultivate a positive self-image.

In September 2019, Ravenor Primary embarked on an exciting journey to revitalize our curriculum, infusing it with purpose, ambition, and rich vocabulary to cater to the diverse needs of our pupils. Rooted in our core values of resilience, resourcefulness, respect, reflection, and responsibility, our curriculum

is meticulously designed to impart subject-specific skills progressively, ensuring a solid foundation for lifelong learning. Themes are revisited annually, fostering knowledge retention and deepening understanding.

Central to our curriculum is the seamless integration of both knowledge and skills, meticulously sequenced to provide a comprehensive educational experience. Our ultimate goal is for Ravenor pupils to graduate with a robust vocabulary, a thirst for knowledge, and a passion for lifelong learning. Each pupil is valued as an individual, and our commitment lies in equipping them with the requisite knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes essential for success in contemporary Britain and beyond.

We aim to create a cooperative, resilient and resourceful community beyond the classroom walls.

At Ravenor Primary, we believe in fostering a supportive partnership with parents, which is why we organize engaging Parents’ Workshops to provide valuable insights and resources.

Our dynamic range of Morning and After-School Clubs and activities not only enhance children’s skills but also extend their learning beyond traditional classroom settings, ensuring every child thrives, and has the time and support they need and deserve. From our in-house wraparound childcare offering to sports, chess, debate, reading and music, we constantly look to expand our curriculum beyond the core learning times.

We understand the importance of keeping parents informed about their child’s progress, which is why we host regular Parents’ Evenings, offering a valuable opportunity for open dialogue and updates on their child’s development.

Safety is our utmost priority, which is why we provide comprehensive guidance on online safety and home and family matters, ensuring a secure environment for all.

At Ravenor, we celebrate the remarkable growth of our pupils in positive communication, teamwork, debate and interpersonal skills. From fostering meaningful eye contact to using body language effectively, our pupils exemplify excellence in building relationships and developing effective communication and articulate debate skills. This term, our focus extends to nurturing trust, fostering effective communication, and honing problem-solving abilities across all key stages, empowering our pupils for success in every facet of life.
