About this catalogue This catalogue was compiled to help our clients and prospective customers choose their next domestic pump without the need to go through technical specifications which may sometimes be complicated and also confusing to a normal house owner. Pumps and flow switch are not weather proof. A protection cover will be needed for pumps exposed to the weather.

A typical Maltese house has a rooftop tank which feeds all outlets. Some water points, especially shower heads and automatic washing machines, require an increase in pressure and flow to give desired output. A pump fitted with a flow switch may be installed after the tank's outlet to increase flow and pressure every time there is a demand.

The use of this type of pump can vary but it is usually installed in basements to pump dirty water from pits, empty lift cesspits and the removal of other excess water to be lifted to sewerage system at ground level. The choice of pump will vary according to the vertical lift required to raise the water to ground level and also the type of solids found in same liquid. TOP FLOOR can lift down to 2mm from above ground level but solids handled cannot be greater than 2mm. At the far end of this range the RXM VORTEX can handle solids of up to 20mm. The float switch attached to the pump will switch on and off the pump at the desired level when set correctly.

TOP2-GM is equipped with a vertical rise magnetic switch. It is used in tight spaces where the movement of a cable type float switch is difficult.

Harvesting rainwater has always been necessary in our dry country. While we may take the water supply for granted, the use of a well reduces the utility bill and at the same time offers a precious resource that furnishes high quality water which is very suitable for plants and also is mild on our skin and hair while taking a shower. An assembly of the above pumps to a pressure switch, creates a booster system which will offer a water supply on demand. It can also be connected to the rooftop water tank and controlled via a level switch. We recommend the use of a self-priming pump to avoid problems with air in suction hose. Models marked with an * asterisk are self-priming pumps.

To have an automatic booster system, an electronic pressure switch is mounted on the delivery side of these pumps to switch on/off on demand and maintain system under pressure.

The last 20 years have seen a rapid increase of basement floors in terraced houses and villas. Besides requiring a basic water supply, the home owner often installs a toilet and the respective drain is much below the sewer level. The above pumps are intended to be lowered inside a tank or pit to raise grey water to sewer level at a considerable high flow rate. Often the same pit is used to collect run-off water from garage ramps and internal yards which is then also pumped out of the basement level. The use of a vortex type impeller is recommended when a large flow rate is required and the liquid handled has a high content of solids. This type of impeller is positioned in such a way that the solids will have a wider passage inside pump body and therefore will not clog easily. The grinder in DOMO GRI pump cuts solids in sewage into smaller bits that can easily pass through the impeller and discharge pipes. Risks of clogging or blockage are very low.

While many households can create a cesspit at basement level and then insert any of the sewage pumps found on page 5, others need a complete system having a container and a pump or two pumps readily installed. These sewage stations can be furnished with a control panel to monitor the duty and standby pump and also signal an alarm when a maximum level is reached.

In most cases, a centrifugal surface pump can handle water transfer from a well to a rooftop tank or feed directly into the water system. Sometimes, a large suction height or the lack of space will require the usage of a submersible pump. These are chosen according to the head required and also pump material. A pressure switch can be fitted at ground level to create a booster system.

Domestic circulation pumps are generally used to maintain a set temperature in a hot water system. These can be useful when there is a hot water solar heater which is used to furnish hot water in taps and also feed radiators inside bathrooms used for maintaining warm room temperature.
