President's Message

First of all, I would like to thanks all, who contributes to publish this first newsletter in 2021/2022 tenure. As individuals we all wish to accomplish our dreams. However, to reach that destination, we must start with that first step. A few years ago, I decided to step out of my comfort zone in public speaking and the first thing I did without further procrastination, was joined Kuliyapitiya Toastmasters club, and since then, never looked back. In keeping with the mission of Toastmasters, this is a platform to enable each one of us to become better leaders, better speakers, better listeners and better communicators. We are all from different backgrounds but there is one thread that binds us all, our craving to learn and improve. A group of selfless, driven members who not only see themselves improve, but also help their fellow members in process. This is a platform which brings together people from various places, different industries and minded with a common goal. A club session allows members to come out of their comfort zone and when they volunteer to step on to the stage. Even today, as I am stand on the stage as the president of this club my nerves still wrangle me. With experience, I have learned to handle my nervousness, instead of allowing it to control me. I see role of the presidency and the executive committee take control of their own development. It is simply fascinating to see members grow with confidence and personally, this brings me immense joy and satisfaction after every single meeting. We are all born with the innate skills to communicate, simply put, it is the ease with which we articulate our thoughts in a more engaging manner. As the president of Kuiyapitiya Toastmasters club, I was delighted, we have achieved president’s distinguished club status within six months in 2021/2022 tenure. I would like to thanks executive committee and all members of KTM, you are the persons who behind on this goal. We always consider to maintain the quality with our meetings to get highest benefits for the members. Let us enjoy together our awesome journey as fellow toastmasters.
