Studio: Capstone Project
Supervisor: Dr. Mohammed Gomaa - Ms. Rasha Farsi
Location: Jedddah, Saudi Arabia
Project Proposal:The capstone thesis highlights the problem of distractions in the age we live age. Therefore, the project aims to consider distraction (Aural, Visual, Behavioral) in the architectural designs to design a project that minimizes the effects of distractions on users and designs an experience with distractions in a positive matter.
The project consists of three different zones which are: subtle distractions zone, moderate distractions zone and complete distractions zone, and they are connected by transitional spaces. In each zone, all the different types of distractions are controlled.

Studio: Urban Design Supervisor: Ms. Lara Al Khouli
Team Partners: Noor Shata, Afnan AlMaflehi, Dalia Gharawi
Studio Brief: The studio seeks to design a new city planned for refugees that acknowledges the transient nature of city populations: configuring its rules of engagement, its economies, and, of course, its layers and forms. Students are free to explore limitless and boundless design theories and strategies.
Project Proposal: The ‘Ground for Promise’ project is a transitional city to provide the homeless people with a better quality of life, opportunities, education, and secure life. The objectives are achieved by designing a 5 years program that begins with traveling them from the main country by a movable part of the city to the fixed city which locates in the international water. The program ends by ensuring that all the citizens of the city are prepared, educated, and qualified enough to re-enter their new societies. The new host countries are the European countries that lack middle-class people. Therefore, it is a two-way benefit where both ‘the host countries and homeless people’ depend on one another to have an advantage whether raising the economy or securing a better life.
Individual Intervention: When the team took different jurors and designers’ feedback on the design of the city, they found out that the design focuses mainly on the physical healing aspect for the homeless users. However, it lacks considering the other healing dimensions including, mental, emotional, and spiritual, which are the core and base for the success of the city program. Therefore, this individual intervention focuses on developing the healing design considerations in the main open and urban spaces of the city. Deep and comprehensive research is made to form the start and base of all the design decisions of the project.

Flexibility - Technology - Nature
Studio: Comprehensive Design Supervisor: Ms. Sima AlRefae
Project Location: Abha, Saudi Arabia
Studio Brief: The comprehensive studio course focuses on the architectural design process from beginning concept through schematic design, detailed development and final comprehensive presentation. It covers the integration of building structural and environmental systems, and technical coordination into the building design.
Project Proposal: The ‘reversed future’ proposal is designed in response to the global issue of destruction natural landscapes in cities, including the city of Abha, due to the rapid growth in populations. The proposal aims to reverse the spiteful approach of housing and city expansion by allowing architecture to be integrated with nature rather than considering nature as a trivial aspect in urban design. The objective is achieved through the design of a flexible and light architectural prototype, which could be reflected in various cities to occupy high-density spaces and reintegrate the users with their natural landscapes.

Community - Eclecticism - Sociality
Studio: Mixed-use Design
Supervisor: Ms. Lara Al Khouli
Project Location: Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
Studio Brief: The mixed-use development is characterized as pedestrian-friendly development that blends two or more residential, commercial, cultural, institutional, and/ or industrial uses. As the project is real-life, the students are required to follow the client brief, which focuses on the concept of neighborhood and eclecticism.
Project Proposal: The project is a mixed-use development that is located in Al-Rawda District, Jeddah. The program of the project is defined by the stakeholders, and it consists of restaurants, cafes, shops, an entertainment venue, a gym, and an event hall. The project aims to create a social environment that represents a neighborhood where children, adults, and families are all interacting and connecting. The design creates a journey for visitors that takes them from AlKayyal street into another life inside the project where they have a different experience. The design also depends on the composition of different masses each of them has its unique design. All the masses together form a neighborhood-like and eclectic place.
Location: Al-Dammam, Saudi Arabia
Team Partners: Manar Al-Rougi, Alaa Alamoudi. Arwa Atwa
Competition Brief: “Retal Competition for Mosque Design” is an international architectural competition to design a local mosque in Dammam, organized by “Retal Urban Development Company” and managed by the “Abdul Latif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture”.
This competition was launched to motivate architects to enrich the urban environment with innovative designs that elevate the architecture of local mosques, and that the design takes into account the use of environmentally friendly materials as part of the design and taking into account the future maintenance and operating costs of the building.
