Introducing text The work shown in my portfolio are carefully chosen, to express my qualities and my skills, even though the projects were completed with a group of approximately 4 people. As an architect, it has always been in my interest to associate the architecture to philosophy and psychology, which is what I refer to as the unmeasurable. I believe one must understand the emotions evoked by the created space. My quest includes the ability to sustain the nature and phenomenon of architecture, by understanding the architecture from different aspects. I truly believe in architecture.

ACADEMIC PROJECT - CYBOX, SINGLY-FAMILY HOUSE The main purpose of this project has been to create a house for a family of 4. The house has been made with certain architectonical parameters and thoughtful spatial flows, with a high quality of architectonic. The house is to be placed in Ă˜Oestre Havn in Aalborg. The house itself is a part of a bigger housing complex, which is highly inspired by Borneo/Spurenburg, Amsterdam by the architects MVRDV. Within the design, it is wished to create a spatial, practical and an open house, which will be done with the power of selection of material and architectonical design. The design and form is followed by the function. The house is constructed with the intention of creating both a public-area and to create private-areas for individual privacy. One of the major ideas was to integrate the stairs into the house, to create multifunctional stairs. Since there is no windows on the east nor west façade , it is therefore necessary to also consider the placement of windows and stairs, to let in as much sun as possible. To make the walls even more multifunctional, the walls have been made thick to use them as storage space. The house is not just to live in, it is made to experience, feel and discover the architecture and its architectonic qualities.

ACADEMIC PROJECT - AALBORG TEATER, THEATRE

This project is based on the themeIntegrated Building Design House of Culture. The project presents a proposal of a new Aalborg Theatre placed on BudolfiPlads in the center of Aalborg City. The project seeks to redefine and revitalize the theatre in Aalborg as a cultural center of the city. The vision for the new theatre is to create a more visible theatre, both in a physical and cultural sense. Budolfi Plads gives it a more visible and vivid place in city life and together wit’h a more modern and interesting architectural vision, the theatre will stand as a more prominent character in Aalborg. The main focus of the planning of the building is to create a more organized and structured theatre, which will benefit both the private and public sections of the building. The theatre has to offer a variety of cultural offers, which separates it from other cultural rivals in the city. Aesthetically, the goal is to create a theatre which offers different experiences depending on place and setting.

ACADEMIC PROJECT - HATLEHOL CHURCH, CHURCH The process of merging very different spatial qualities into one complex church, with focus on structure and acoustics was an obstacle which carried infinite amount of knowledge. When knowing there is a great differ in the two spaces, it was necessary to weigh one more than the other. In our case we decided to focus more on the spiritual part, and therefore the church. Working with spirituality, the profane and phenomenology we realized there are many approaches which ended up with a mixed sketch phase. Abstract paintings and surreal photographs, sculpture and artistic compositions were used to outset a concept. We think using abstract art as an outset is ideal to create architecture outside the box which is able to reach a deeper and challenging level of meaning. The challenge was to free our imagination to create the ability of thinking without the control of our conscious. In fact, we deactivate our conscious to create spaces for the subconscious. Therefore most of our preliminary diagrams of analysis had to be as basic and simple as possible, simply not to allow the conscious control come into effect. A very abstract outset was paramount for the project. Reflecting on the result of an abstract, surreal starting point, the product is coherent in a spiritual sense. As a result of the fact of thinking without the control of our conscious, there is a story we want to tell, which was in the higher spiritual end. The process had to make it a qualified proposal. We were really inspired by this direction of thinking, and simply blending these steps into the integrated process.

GRASSHOPPER DEFINITION

GEOMETRY SETUP KARAMBA PRE-CALC. ROBOT STRUCTURAL CALC. As an inspiration from the overall concept there was made a vision for the church room and as the strength of the concept was paramount, the spatial quality of the church room is very important on a phenomenological level. Considering the incidence of light, and generally the influence of light in the space, there was found three different ways of creating a mood in a space. The aim is to create a tranquil space with ambient lighting with an inspiration from Therme Vals, Switzerland, considering the incidence of light. Using ambient light we assure the shadow-less relation in the space, while minimizing the importance of objects and people and still emphasizing both the geometry of the space and the freedom within. To stress the celestial space the aim of the acoustics is to create a reverberant room. The reverberation time should be at the very end of the acceptable reverberation time, to create a reverberant acoustic. The space in the church room should represent a silent, metaphysical, delectable feeling and at the same time an acoustical qualified space for music, through a timber structure. 30

Dario PARIGI Associate Professor in Innovative Design of Structures Aalborg University

To whom it may concern Ali Zakaria Djebbara attended the 1st semester of the Master of Science in Architecture and Design at Aalborg University. I was his supervisor in the course “Performance-Aided Design: Form, Material, Structure, Acoustics and Fabrication" (5 ECTS), and in the Project module "Tectonic Design: Structure and Construction" (20 ECTS). Ali Zakaria Djebbara has great skills in dealing with digital design processes, in particular working with the parametric design software Grasshopper coupled with structural analysis software Karamba and Autodesk Robot. During the semester he especially demonstrated a marked autonomy accompanied with critical attitude. He was able to interpret and discuss the technical and architectural results of his experimentations with a very high level of competence, moving forward his understanding of complex three-dimensional structural systems and their relevance in architectural design. During the construction workshop of the " Performance-Aided Design" course he also demonstrated significant abilities in teamwork, participating with great enthusiasm to the collective assembling of the final complex reciprocal structure pavilion. I can therefore recommend any attention for his internship application.
