Nou ja. What happens in the heart of Doringbaai does not always stay in Doringbaai, does it? Especially not when it happens at the annual Perlemoen Festival and you're the local winemaker that everybody knows ...
This especially holds true when - in the heat of your post-prandial glow - you decide to launch yourself off the harbour wall, clad only in your underpants. But then, if you're the boss at 'Fryers' Cove Winery' (or local crayfish king), you don't give a damn, do you?
It is true that I got sucked into the quayside strip show, as someone had to document this moment for posterity. As did Zane Schmahl - in his black tanga, nogal - when we followed Jan 'Ponk' and Vicus de Jager into the freezing Atlantic Ocean.
The plan was to shoot a spectacular image of a bottle of Fryer's Cove's award-winning 'Bamboes Bay' sauvignon blanc amidst the underwater kelp forests, but things did not go quite as planned. Instead, we drank the wine, dried ourselves, had more wine, and then ate some West Coast crayfish.
