CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS EXHIBITION OPENING | Muskingum County K–12 Student Art Exhibition
Sunday, April 26, 12 pm–4 pm, at the ZMA. Free and open to the public. Enjoy complimentary music and refreshments. Avant-Garde Awards for K–6th grade students begin at 1:00 pm. Avant-Garde Awards for 7th–12th grade begin at 3 pm. This exhibition is generously supported by The Community Bank. GIRL SCOUT DAYS AT THE ZMA Creating Comics | January 25
Design your own comic book characters and adventures at the Zanesville Museum of Art. Go through the whole process of creating your own comic book and complete all the steps to earn your Comic Artist badge. Saturday, January 25, 1–4 pm, at the ZMA. $12 per participant. Each session is unique as you both experiment with new materials, discover art-making techniques, and explore hidden treasures in the ZMA’s galleries. Second Friday of the month at the ZMA. Art Voyagers
Begin your art adventure by becoming a ZMA Art Voyager! Twice a month children in grades kindergarten through third will travel through history and explore the globe to learn about a different culture or a new art form. Create an exciting project, and receive a stamp in your Art Voyagers passport. Each stamp gets you one step closer to a secret treasure. Now offering two classes a month, first Monday of the month, 5:30–6:30 pm and second Saturday of the month, 10:30–11:30 am, at the ZMA. Each class offers a unique project. $5 per session for members, $10 per session for not-yet-members. All materials and a painting apron provided. Recommended for grades K–3. Registration required. Master’s Apprentice
Become an apprentice to masters like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Georgia O’Keeffe, or Mary Cassatt. Twice a month children in grades 4 through 6 will investigate the art, style, and technique used by a different master artist, and then they will create their own masterpiece. For each class, participants will earn apprentice rewards to add to their very own artist palette. Fill the palette with colorful rewards to receive unique art supplies and discounts on future programs. Now offering two classes a month, third Monday of the month, 5:30–6:30 pm and third Saturday of the month,10:30–11:30 am, at the ZMA; Each class offers a unique project. $5 per session for members, $10 per session for not-yetmembers. REEL MEAL | Miss Representation
ADULT PROGRAMS
Join us and our Reel Meal partners in viewing Miss Representation, a documentary on the portrayal of women in the media. ART FUNDAMENTALS | Studio Sessions with Gail Glagola
Interested in art but don’t know where to start? Join retired art educator Gail Glagola for an exciting series of studio sessions. Each session focuses on a different art fundamental. Saturdays, February 1, February 8, February 29, and March 7, 2–3:30 pm, at the ZMA. $25 per session for members, $50 per session for not-yet-members. Or $80 for members and $160 for not-yet-members when you sign up for all four sessions on or before January 25. No experience required. All materials provided. Recommended for teens and adults.
