FROM THE EDITOR • I can see the light at the end of the tunnel By: Art Singer, EIC (ZCCM), Albuquerque Z Car Club Or maybe it’s just the flashes from the fireworks ringing in 2017. Either way, I’m looking forward to the new year and a chance to stay caught up after spending 2016 trying to catch up. It doesn’t take much for me to fall behind when it comes to getting the magazine out in a timely manner. It’s hard basically being a one man operation when it comes to the production of the magazine. All it takes is one crisis and I’m playing catch up. The crisis’ don’t come from the magazine, but more from everyday life. A family member gets sick, a car breaks down, things around the house need fixing. And when one thing goes, it seems like two or three follow right behind. After finally finishing my last road trip of the year, I can settle down and get things done. This includes getting the digital issue out on time. To speed things up I combined September’s, October’s and November’s digital issues into one. Because I did this, I’m extending all subscriptions by three digital issues. The print issue is back on schedule and none have been missed so there won’t be an extention for them. I will take a short break on February 17-20 to attend the 2nd Annual Friend’s of Mr. K Fun Run that will be held in Laughlin, NV that will include daily
drives in and around the southern NV and northwest AZ region. There have still been quite a few readers wanting to send in articles on their Zs. The problem (if you want to call it that) is, they are mostly coming from the S30 crowd. I would love to see some later model Z owners (280ZX, 300ZX, 350Z and 370Z) get involved and start submitting some articles on their cars. As much as I love the S30, I would like to see more variety, including the newer models in the pages of ZCCM. A few good pictures and a good story behind the car is all it takes to make it happen. Even the 510 and Roadster owners are welcome to submit an article. ZCCM is still in search of Z-cars for the "Behind the Wheel" section of the magazine. If you own a nice Z and would like to see your car gracing the pages of the magazine and don't mind writing about it then send me an email at arts.zccm@gmail.com to get the ball rolling. Who knows, it might turn into a feature (see above) if there is a really good story behind it! Most BTW's only need between 400 to 700 words and about 5 to 8 hi-res images. This is your chance to see your car in print and it also looks nice displayed in the rear hatch area of your Z at your local car show. So get out from behind the wheel and show the world what you got.

2016 STORY AND PHOTOS BY ART SINGER I headed out to Las Vegas this year with the intention of seeing a lot of Z cars at the 2016 SEMA Convention. I was surprised to only see around 10 or so in attendance. Split between the S30’s and the 350Z/370Z’s. The bulk of the Nissan products there were the GTR’s. Everything from mild to wild with the most insane GTR that was gold stamped sitting along side a silver stamped Subaru WRX. Peter Brocks silver and gray 240Z was on display as well as a couple of early Z’s from Japan. The one that really caught my eye was one I had never seen before. Chris Forsberg (of drifting fame) had his 240Z on display. A tastefully done conversion that wasn’t screaming for attention but had everyone looking. Even with the lack of Z’s on display, there were quit a few novelty cars that were perfect for Halloween. There was the tree car, a Dodge with one of the wildest engines I had ever seen, a couple of jet-engine cars, some great airbrush art on display, a bunch of wrap demonstrations and as I mentioned before, GTR’s everywhere. Z CAR CLUB MAGAZINE

BEYOND CRAZY! I also found some new products on display that caught my attention. I tried to focus on products that would benefit the Z community. I was mainly interested in finding companies that still manufactured parts for the S30’s. I was surprised to find a few that did. Most are outside of the United States, making it a little harder to obtain the parts, but at least they are out there. I had been to SEMA in the past, but this was the first year that I was in town on Halloween night. It was pure madness. I was staying in the old downtown section of Vegas and was able to walk outside of my hotel room and be within a half a block of the Fremont Street Experience. It was wall to wall people in all kinds of crazy costumes. I’m guessing its one of the only times you will see naked women roaming the streets in costumes (or lack of) and acholic beverages being served on every street corner. Along with all the lights and glitter, there were some really good cover bands on three different stages from one end of Fremont to the other. If you get the chance to attend a future SEMA Convention, make sure to come out a couple of days early to witness the craziness of halloween night. It will definitely get you ready for the four days of SEMA Insanity! 14
