This project is inspired by secular moorish style of architecture. Two juxtaposed living rooms invite you into an open entrance with large sliding doors, and a lit-up aesthethic. Efficient connectivity was the main aim during spatial organization. The interior is characterized of wide spaces, winding stairs, reflective wooden floors, and coffered ceilings

White and brown facades were chosen to create an inviting ambience. At the flat rooftop, there is a recreational area for people to have meetings/meet-ups, and also enjoy panoramic views of the entire neighbourhood.

gungu, Uganda. The terminal e site. This particular site was cation, it is quite serene so m the city’s busy life. But, pment in this region so it This balance ensures that rport with few hurdles, and ike shopping, and healthcare
On the ground floor, the terminal is divided in two sections, the departures (right side) and the arrivals (left side). The sections are further partitioned into the landside (lower end) and airside (upper end). As passengers walk through the entrance, they are welcomed with a large space so they can easily locate the processing points; the check-in area or document check. After check-in, they proceed to security screening. Once all proceedings are done, they cross over to the airside to rest at the departure hold room.

To the right of the departure hold rooms are offices, where officials carry out their duties. The left side of the terminal has the arrivals and luggage claim for passengers. When drafting the plan, the area was intentionally left open to create enough space for busy activity, collection of luggage and easy access of the exit points. In the lounge area, seats are provided to visitors waiting for the arriving passengers from the aircraft. Along the arrivals section, services like foreign exchange, police, ATM machines and inquiry centres are availed to passengers.

On the upper floor, the departure section is mainly filled with seats for the waiting area. This is where passengers wait before taking flights. In this same region, there are services like a supermarket and café for refreshments. Also, for those looking to use washrooms, they are readily available here. The landside on this floor is completely open, therefore passengers on the ground floor can enjoy the structural views of the roof.

lodges
In the arrivals section, there are lodges for passengers who need a sleepover or have missed flights. At specific areas, there are processing points with trained personnel, this is where the passengers or visitors can check-in, and make inquiries or complaints.

Since there is an all-year abundance of sunshine, the roof form was modelled to allow the entrance of light rays. The passengers can then enjoy this natural lighting. This was achieved through multiple openings at the roof especially at the side of the departure hold rooms. Smart-tinting glass which automatically changes its properties was used in case of overheating from the sun.

The roof structure was designed to mimic the roof ’s flow and hence gives the required support without interfering with the interior aesthetic. The main material used is steel which surrounds a glass façade, especially in the area of the office spaces.
Another critical aspect was the distance between the structure and roof insulation. The insulation was topped at about 300mm to improve comfort and energy efficiency in the terminal. The free-flowing steel structures were modelled to allow a skylight view without the hinderance of creating shadows; their forms considered the shape of roof openings.

Xi’an is in the northern hemisphere, the main seasons are winter and summer. This fact was put into consideration while choosing the materials, structure, form and insulation or cooling properties of the house. As regards the glass openings, sun shading devices were utilized to control interior illumination.

From data collected from climate consultant software, it averagely shines 7 hours in a day with maximum temperature of 30 degrees, shading is required especially during the long summer. For this, I used smart-tinting glass which changes its reflective properties to prevent sunlight and heat from entering the building. Most sunshine hours are between 10 am to 3 pm, the windows from the north (upper side where the sun rises) were made smaller to prevent excessive heat into the building. This ensures a sustainable, energy-efficient building. Also, styrofoam is used in the roof and wall composition, which improves the insulating capabilities.
It averagely rains 10 days in a month, with an average precipitation of 4,5. An efficient drainage system was constructed to prevent stagnation. First, the roof is tilted at a slight angle to create a gradient for smooth water flow to the pipelines. The water is then directed to the collection centres through an underground drainage system.
