‘ ACTS OF HYBRID ’ The rapid development of cities have overlooked human needs of personal space where they have had in the past years before urbanism. Current newly-built spaces are duplicated infinitely. However, individualism and diversity are what make up the quality of urban life. How to bring back those kinds of elements in both architectural and urban perspective has always been my focus.

01 PARALLEL Combination of Service Apartment and Apartment Hotel with In-between Changeable Space 2020 Spring Master Graduation Thesis Project

How to create quality for future vertical life? How to reconstruct culture under the crazy destruction of urbanism? How to keep individualism while connecting people together? How to bring diversity to spaces we create? In the following series of projects including both individual and team ones, I have continuously persisted in seeking for answers to those questions and tried to find various solutions accordingly. Parallel focuses on breaking the normal settled space and inserts changeable space so as to provide a space in-between the service apartment and apartment hotel for potential possible activities. Condensor of Memory collects typologies of scenes originating from the industrial age, and by recapturing those memories, reminders of culture evoke people’s identity and a sense of belonging. Type and Individualism is a project starting from personality and lets those single-living people find the quality of diversity by creating cluster of interest. In this way, apartment will no longer be an isolated part from the city but a public core attracting and welcoming people. Strolling around aims to seeking for solutions to bring urban quality into vertical high-rises by turning the nolli plan to nolli vertical to create a vertical life space for high-dense cities. There will always be unsolved and ongoing issues in the process of urbanism. Designing, while echoing urban issues demands highly interactive ways of thinking which draw from diverse fields including society, culture, economy and politics. Conventional researches and methods are facing the risk of being unable to solve such problems in this new world. There is a need for novel horizons and responses to the new world by engaging the various aspects of cultural life more than just design itself.

The architecture design is focused on the concept of “Rivulets”. A meandering “rivulet” links academic exhibition, scientific exchange and clinical practice all together from north to south. It is also a growth path for medical students from theory to practice which includes dormitories, classrooms, laboratories, lecture hall, physical examination center, and medical exam rooms. The SUST affiliated hospital consists of two main functional areas: a first-class general hospital with seven basic departments; and an academic research center including teaching, research laboratories, and dormitories on duty. The two main areas are connected by pedestrian bridges, buildings and landscapes, and a new entrance to the campus and medical school is created on the south side.

Shenzhen Fuwai Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences located in Nanshan District, Shenzhen. “Windows to the soul” as the design concept of Shenzhen Fuwai Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences phase III project, is to create a comfortable hospital visit and medical inspection experience for patients, accompanied families and hospital staff. Ultimately to open a window of hope for recovery for patients carry cardiovascular disease. The only way to calm the spirit is to keep the soul clean from dust, thus vision becomes clear, and mood turns delightful. Landscape design as a key component of phase III development, is intended to enhance the multi-dimensional healing experience through nature. City Park energizes hospital activities, building towers respond to surrounding nature and sunshine. Multi-dimensional green experience including sunken garden, healing terrace,
