RIGGERS LOFT
Rigger’s Loft is a winery. It locates in the previous Kaiser Steel Shipyard during World War II for building military cargo ship Victory and Liberty. This location inspired me to develop my concept: Transformation from war time to wine time. This concept refered to the story of production of cargo ships in the past, and showing the wine production in today.

The Sliding door
Rigger’s Loft winery has a massive open space at the wine tasting area. The sliding door is designed to enclose part of the wine tasting area when space is not in use and keep intimacy. The idea of the sliding door is coming from storage for the ship parts. I designed to create a scene that difficult ship parts are hanging and they are waiting to be an assembly to the ship. The sliding door also used the battleship camouflage from WW I to WW II “Razzle Dazzle” to give the enclosed area a sense of hidden and cover-up.

The ship frame
Ship Frame Rendering
The ship frame is a scale down model of the Victory Cargo Ship structural frame. This ship frame representing the construction of the victory cargo ship which is parked right next to the Rigger Loft parking lot. The idea behind the ship frame is to educate customers about the production of the ship back in the days. It also allows customers to sit in the model and enjoy their wine.

Mobilize Bar & Retail Store Design
The Mobilize Bar and retail store
The mobilize bar and retail store is designed to locate inside or outside of the Rigger’s Loft Winery. Winery owners were looking for options to develop their exterior area to be another wine tasting area. However, owners do not want to leave a bar outside the winery at night time. I design a mobilize bar and retail store to allow owners able to have a bar outside when needed but does not have to stay overnight. This bar is inspired by the “Store in and Ship out” idea of the warehouse next to the winery.

The backyard Shed
The Backyard Shed is a design and model making studio within a backyard of a house in San Francisco. The utilitarian shed inspired an idustrial look to inform an industrious work atmosphere and highly saturated colors of the furniture and finishes provide a vibrant accent to the subdued “work space.
