Aram: The Home of Modern Design since 1964

Zeev Aram opened his ﬁrst showroom on London’s Kings Road in 1964 with the mission to bring the very best of modern design to London. Today, almost 60 years on, Aram continues to be family-run and resolute in its goal of being an incredible resource for 20th century and contemporary design.

The showroom now occupies two Victorian warehouses on Drury Lane, which previously supplied the old Covent Garden fruit and vegetable market. Here, spread over four ﬂoors, you can discover sofas, dining tables, chairs, storage, lighting, decorative homewares and more. Expect to ﬁnd exquisite woodwork designs by legends such as Hans Wegner and Kai Kristiansen; upholstery that o ers both comfort and personality; dining tables that push the boundaries of technical ability and a whole host of complementary pieces from Italian post-war masters, American Modernists, Scandinavian craftsmen and women, and the leading designers of today.

All these wonderful designs are set against the backdrop of a light-ﬁlled warehouse, with double-height ceilings and raw industrial features, that not only allows Aram to show the widest selection of furniture designs of any store in London, but also a ords its customers the luxury of space in which to make private, unhurried decisions. The team regularly visit the showrooms and manufacturing facilities of many of the brands sold here to learn about the materiality, construction and capabilities of their designs. This helps to ensure that products are vetted for quality and longevity, in addition to aesthetics and brand history. As such, the whole team – from buying to sales – truly understand the pieces and the store's consultants can therefore provide customers with highly knowledgeable advice.

For instance, as well as understanding the technical abilities of the hundreds of upholstery options available to a given sofa, they are well versed in modular software and can build site-speciﬁc conﬁgurable storage systems.
