HENLEY FESTIVAL

Having fun at the UK’s most glamorous music and arts festival

It was five unforgettable nights of world-class music, comedy, dining and dancing from 5–9 July at the Henley Festival. Headlining the Festival’s unique Floating Stage were Rag’n’Bone Man, Westlife, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Ministry of Sound Classical featuring guest DJ Danny Rampling, Ronnie Scotts and Vanessa Haynes presents ‘Aretha Franklin – Queen of Soul’ and Boney M. with the original lead singer Liz Mitchell – and each evening the audience was spoilt for choice with a veritable feast of world-class entertainment across the stunning riverside setting. More than 30,000 black-tie festival-goers attended the sun-soaked celebrations, with some revellers arriving in one of the 200 boats pulling up to the festival site.

Alongside the vibrant art and music line-up – including pop, world, classical, folk and jazz from acts such as The Kanneh-Mason Trio, Robyn, Tom Speight, Palace Avenue, Charlotte Campbell, the Cinelli Brothers and John James Newman amongst many others – Henley has a reputation for presenting world-class comedy. This year’s laughs were brought by Marcus Brigstocke, Jo Brand, Chris McCausland, Adam Kay and Jack Dee, whose signature dry humour and deadpan delivery entertained a full house in the Riverside Cabaret.

And on Sunday, the Festival hosted families for the much-loved Playdate at Henley, with a wonderful selection of performances and activities for children of every age and stage, including MC Grammar, Professor Strange and Doodle Jam with Tommy Gurr, as well as workshops for singing, circus skills, garland making and much more.

Packed full of magical moments, each evening was brought to a captivating close with the Festival’s trademark firework spectacular designed by Titanium Fireworks – with festival goers crowding to the riverbanks to watch the jaw-dropping display.
