Time to give

On 7 July pupils aged from 4 to 18 at Sheffield High School for Girls stepped back from their usual timetable of lessons, clubs and sports and, instead, took part in a number of activities and listened to guest speakers on the topics of philanthropy, giving and service to the community.

Pupils were involved in sessions covering a wide range of topics, tailored for the ages in each year group. Girls in the Infant School learnt about food banks, and considered different ways to spread positivity through art, whilst the Juniors completed a project to design a future charity event and worked on developing links with local residential homes. Senior School pupils learnt about animal welfare at Heeley City Farm, considered social responsibility and legacy with the Royal British Legion, and took part in a food waste solutions project. sheffieldhighschool.org.uk

Further to a successful series of Teachers’ Days and Drop-Ins, an adventure play attraction in Leeds is launching three packages for school pupils aged 6-14. Developed by a qualified primary and outdoor educational instructor, Gemma Simpson, Duty Manager at Mission Out at Tingley Garden Centre, the packages are the Elevate, Aerial and the Terrain experience that are suitable for all primary and secondary school Key Stages, with a minimum height requirement on the High Ropes. The development of a strong grassroots culture serves as the foundation for long-term sporting success at all levels.
