“Christmas for me is all about wrapping up, keeping cosy, while also keeping it super stylish”

Four to the FORE

Leeds-based fashion designer, Sian Gabbidon, gets into the spirit and suggests her top looks for the festive season

Christmas is fast approaching and it's my favourite time of the year for fashion. Here are my four top Christmas tips to keep you stylish throughout the festive season. Christmas for me is all about wrapping up, keeping cosy and spending time with the family – while also keeping it super stylish.

WINTER WALKS

There is nothing better than a crisp winter walk; even for someone who doesn't like the cold, I still love to do this every year.

Frosty mornings and cosy fits are probably one of my favourite outfit combos of all time. And for this look, oversized is essential! The base layer would be a black long sleeved fitted top and matching body-sculpting leggings teamed with a nude oversized quarter zip statement

WORKS CHRISTMAS PARTY

It's that time of the year again and we’re all looking for that perfect Christmas party outfit. Traditionally, everyone thinks sequin, but for the work’s do, I've personally always been a fan of the more casual look.

We all love the ‘jeans and a nice top’ look and it's perfect for the work Christmas party this year. The e ortless style means you’re not super dressy or too casual and just somewhere in-between. You could wear a pair of high waisted, boyfriend fit jeans teamed with a loose fit pink satin shirt half tucked in and matching strappy pink heels. This will bring a bit of colour to the party – finished with a mini bag and lots of stunning gold jewellery!

GLAM GIRLS NIGHT

Now we all love a work Christmas party, but there's nothing better than a night out with the girls over the festive period. And for this, I think a statement dress is certainly needed! It’s the date that's been in the diary for months and one you won't forget for a while – so, make sure you’re dressed for the occasion.

Every festive season needs a statement dress, and my fave for 2022 has to have either a little bit of sparkle or a little bit of feather to finish. I’d opt for a fitted LBD with a feather detail to it, clashing metallic heels with a matching clutch and, of course, a full glam hair and make-up look.

COSY CHRISTMAS NIGHT IN

Now, I’m a huge fan of nights out, but is there anything better than a cosy night in during the festive season? I have the candles on, the blankets draped over the sofa and have a selection of Christmas films and chocolate on tap. To really complete this, though, is the cosy comfies to match.

For this, the outfit needs to be the most comfortable of all – sleepwear! And if it’s a family a air, it has to be matching – including the dog. Yes, I said it – the dog has matching PJs too! I love a loose fit two-piece checked set teamed with a snug hooded blanket and flu y slippers; without a doubt these are my go-to for the perfect cosy Christmas night in.
