ew things really spell summer like being able to sit outside for a picnic or an evening meal without donning thermals, several jumpers and an anorak. July is one of the few months where this is even vaguely possible in London so we’ve decided to make the most of it. Take a look at our what’s on pages to find out all about Barclaycard presents British Summer Time why go and pitch a tent when you can enjoy day out and go home to bed in the evening? Those brave enough to spend time at the Hampstead ponds this month should turn to page 10; our interview with supermodel Heidi Klum offers top tips on what to wear poolside and reveals what it took to transition from catwalk to swimwear designer.

COSTUME DRAMA Model and designer Heidi Klum has launched her own brand of swimwear. Absolutely meets her Interview Pendle Harte
H
eidi Klum is sitting under a spotlight in the Soho Hotel surrounded by several rails full of bikinis. She is in London – briefly – to launch Heidi Klum Swim, an extension of her Heidi Klum Intimates brand, and she is radiating enthusiasm. In fact she is simply radiating – her big smile, open face and winning charm make her instantly likeable. Not for Heidi the frosty princess manner. Her entourage, however, is a different story. We have been firmly instructed not to veer the slightest bit away from the subject we are here to discuss, which is her new swimwear range. Klum may be German by birth, and broadcast weekly on German television’s huge hit Germany’s Next Top Model, but she lives and works in LA and sounds almost entirely American, apart from occasional turns of phrase. When she says swimwear, she means bikinis – and by that she really means bikini bottoms,
because she herself has little interest in wearing a top part. But swimwear, as Klum discovered, is almost as technical as lingerie, which she has been designing for some time. ‘Yes, a bra is just like a phone! There’s so much technology. Whether it’s a flexible underwire or a half underwire, there’s always a new invention. And the pads too. Did you know we make memory foam bras?’ So for the new swimwear collection, the technical details were just as important as the design. Starting with the hardwear, which Klum has strong opinions about: it mustn’t rust, or be too brash. ‘Nobody wants a huge H on their back!’ And the fabric has to be just right. ‘You need to make sure they don’t fall off or start getting weird when they’re wet. They all have to be tested.’ Klum is one of the world’s highest earning models. Despite having featured on the covers of several editions of Vogue and worked as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, she hasn’t forgotten that she started out as a catalogue model. ‘People used to say
WHEN SHE SAYS swimwear, SHE REALLY MEANS bikini BOTTOMS , BECAUSE SHE herself has little interest IN WEARING A TOP PART

I’d never be anything else, so when I got my first French Vogue cover it made me feel an inch taller.’ She counts working with photographer Peter Lindbergh among her career highs, and cites ‘jobs that make me overcome my fears’ as her favourites. ‘When I shoot Germany’s Next Top Model it’s a live show in an arena full of 15,000 people and I have to talk for three hours. It’s terrifying. I’m trying to have fun but I’m scared – we have people like Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga sitting on the sofa and I have to interview them and I have people shouting in my ear about commercial breaks, and millions of people watching at home. It’s nerve-wracking.’ The show is filmed in LA, as a concession to Klum’s family commitments; she has four children at school there. ‘So I go to Germany and cast the girls, then I take them to Los Angeles and film it there and I’m home at the end of the day.’
ABSOLUTELY MAGAZINES
NH_June16_HEIDI KLUM.indd 12
Casting young models must be a tough job. Can she tell immediately who’s in and who’s out? ‘ Yes, you can see who’s got it. But even though there are so many beautiful girls, not all of them can perform in front of a camera or step into a role. You have to be able to perform.’ It’s a well-trodden path from modeling to designing, but Klum is careful not to design just with herself in mind. ‘If I did it would probably be just bottoms, not tops! I mean I’m more of an itsy bity teeny weeny girl myself and my top comes off on the beach. I’m not a big fan of tan lines. So I try to think about the girl who wants more coverage. I know that a lot of girls like push-up – I don’t like that, but I have to think about what other girls want to wear. And I have the hardest time with one-pieces, because I never wear those myself.’ With 2,000 stockists around the world, there are also the different markets to consider. ‘When you go to the
beach in Australia it’s a very different look from anywhere else. Everyone’s in long sleeves and hats with flaps down the back – and then in St Barts everyone has hardly anything on.’ On the beach, of course, Klum wears her own designs – ‘I like the tropical, fun ones because I’m often on an island, shooting something’ – and off the beach, she likes to ‘have fun with fashion’. Though as she admits, this means that ‘people sometimes hammer me for my choices. I wore a big Zac Posen gown to collect my Bambi award and I felt like Grace Kelly.’ But usually she likes to wear pieces by the Olsen twins – ‘they do a great job, they go to the fabric shows, just like how I do my stuff.’ ◆ Heidi Klum Swim is available at House of Fraser, John Lewis and online at Figleaves and ASOS as well as at select boutiques nationwide. Prices range from £43-£145

nown for their cleancut silhouettes and timeless styles, COS’s SS16 collection is more of the same. Set in the California desert, the campaign is inspired by the shifting forms of the natural landscape and elements. Shot by Karim Sadli and styled by Jonathan Kaye, the minimal backdrop foregrounds the effortless shapes of the collection. Desert winds and warm light interplay to create a sense of freedom and movement, while subtly illuminating the details. The ever-present navy blues are joined by warm creams and sandy, camel tones as well as a few burnt orange and blush shades. Their wide leg trousers are cropped and fall perfectly into the summer culottes trend while the rose pink zip-up silk jacket is ideal for anyone looking for a light bomber for the warmer weather.

1. FAVOURITE ERA IN JEWELLERY DESIGN?
9
7
It is such a fusion of decades for both. I love the beautifully handmade Victorian mourning jewellery but then flipside, the whimsy behind 50s jewellery.
8 1
2. FAVOURITE TRAVEL DESTINATION?
It feels like I’m yet to find it - we’re going on a romantic trip to Crete this summer so who knows, maybe that’ll be it.
3. WHO IS YOUR STYLE ICON?
BESPOKE,
handmade,
I love Charlotte Olympia, covet everything she creates and have a cheeky growing collection.
4. FAVOURITE PIECE OF ART?
NARRATIVE-
inspired
2
That’s tricky. I recently saw Calder at the Tate and was very inspired by his jiggling wire figures and faces – they are like drawings made in space and have a beautiful movement.
7. WHICH OTHER JEWELLERY BRANDS INSPIRE YOU?

5. FAVOURITE ITEM IN THE SHOP AT THE MOMENT?
8. DESCRIBE YOUR PIECES Bespoke, handmade, narrativeinspired jewellery with a big heart.
The mini winking eye rings and the large Moon Swoon Necklace with moving hands and set with little diamonds and a ruby.

It has to be Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra and I could watch Patrica Arquette in True Romance all day.

alking into Benefit is always fun. The retro decor, quirky packaging and inventive names (I’m looking at you, ‘They’re Real!’ mascara) put a little colour back into your beauty routine and, incredibly conveniently, some branches now also offer brow treatments killing two beauty birds with one stone. I have been a fan of the Benefit brow bar for while now - it’s quick (you can squeeze a wax and tint into your lunch break) and I always leave feeling happy and confident. Having been a little negligent with my brow maintenance lately, I stroll into Benefit off the street and the lovely technician is kind enough to squeeze me in. I am lucky this time but Benefit’s appointments often fill up so it's best to either book in advance or nip in earlier to reserve a time slot. I perch on the high stool in the corner of the shop as my eyebrows are examined. The assessment: one is behaving itself but the other is a little patchy, meaning that after my tint I might want to add a little pencil to even them out. My technician recommends the Brow Zings shaping kit in medium as an easy to use alternative to a standard eyebrow pencil and brush. In ten minutes, we’re done and, though the tinting requires sitting for a while looking a lot like Groucho Marx, it's practically pain-free, easy and I emerge thrilled with the results and with plans to return. ◆ ● BENEFIT COSMETICS 49 Brushfield Street, E1 020 7377 2684; benefitcosmetics.com

ENOTECA DA LUCA We discover a slice of Italian life just off the Silicon Roundabout Wo r d s e l i z a b e t h h u t t o n
his restaurant is a clever combination of old and new. While the outside is distinctively modern with floor-to-ceiling windows, the inside looks and feels like a traditional Italian wine shop. It's this combination that makes Enoteca da Luca a sophisticated and elegant space to dine. In the same way, the food here looks cool but retains the authentic flavour of Italy. Focusing on quality rather than quantity, head chef Claudio Illuminati has carefully constructed and heavily edited menu of small dishes, or 'piccolo e bello'. Each made using seasonal produce, meats and cheese from Italy, you’re guaranteed to eat well. To start, we ordered the burrata. Served alongside a sharp basil sorbet, the combination of warm cheese and ice cold sorbet was bizarre initially but served a purpose - the different temperatures meant that the basil was able to cut through the richness of the burrata. Next we ate San Daniele prosciutto with rosemary infused gnocco fritto which was a well balanced combination of sweet, salty meat and aromatic deep fried dough balls. This was, for us, the dish of the night. Accompanying the food, we drank a dry pinot bianco from the region of Alto Adige. This, with its fresh, floral profile worked effortlessly to balance the rich, salty food. If you want to visit Italy but can’t make it there this summer, we’d highly recommend heading here.

The Draft House Gourmet fast food and craft beers are the order of the day in Old Street Wo r d s c at h e r i n e h a l e s
I
t seems that London’s thirst for craft beer and fancy fast food has not yet been slaked; in fact, walking into The Bower on Old Street’s latest addition we are met with a wave of chatter and music that signifies a full house. Not bad for a weekday lunchtime. The interiors are a riot of neon signage, chrome air vents and white tile over which are inked intricate diagrams explaining different the types of beer on offer. The tables are set over two levels, with enourmous copper tanks of pilsner nestled in the rafters and a bar dominating the upper floor. Although aimed at beer fans, the environment isn’t a snobby one. Enthusiastic, well-versed servers flit from table to table providing recommendations and offering advice. Which is lucky because, to the unaccustomed eye, the beer menu could seem a little daunting. Our server asks us what we usually go for, not just in terms of ales, lagers and pilsners but other drinks too. My companion mentions that she’s partial to
a gin and tonic and is instantly pointed in the direction of a draught with hints of juniper. We eventually decide on a black IPA called Divide and Conquer which packs a serious flavour punch tempered by a silky smooth texture and some light citrus notes. My Weird Beard K*ntish Town Beard is an American Wheat Beer and goes down a treat leaving a light bitter tang behind. The food is a perfect accompaniment to the beer (which flows freely) and the menu is extensive; sharing platters, a Mexi-Cali section and burgers, hot dogs and ribs aplenty. Chris’s Mac and Cheese for me and a seriously stacked chili cheeseburger for my friend go down a treat and we manage to finish it all despite the ample helpings. Unfortunately the dessert menu was a bridge too far although I have every intention of returning to conquer the Salted Caramel and Popcorn Ice-Cream Sundae. The SS16 collection is effortlessly lovable, from its simple summer dresses and pleated tops to dungaree-style rompers in seasonal stripes and earthy shades of peach and ochre. orget everything you thought you knew about Hong Kong. Sure, it still offers unparalleled shopping experiences and some of the world’s most incredible landmarks; but it is also fast becoming a foodie capital and an entertainment mecca where Western and traditional Eastern practices seamlessly collide. Hong Kong is purportedly one of the safest destinations and is the perfect storm of Chinese and British culture – a byproduct of its colonisation by Britain after the First Opium War in 1839-42. Condensed into what is, really, quite a tiny land area (approximately 1,104 km²), the only way is up, so Hong Kong’s 7.2 million residents live vertically. Skyscrapers, cliffside houses and steep inclines rivalling San Francisco’s famed hills are endemic to this unique cosmopolis. Surrounded by bays and the South China Sea, the slew of luxury retail centres and just-opened bars, clubs and restaurants solidify Hong Kong’s status as a burgeoning city. So with its ever-increasing list of ‘mustsees,’ what is a first-time traveller to do? What really are Hong Kong’s must-sees? Read on to find out.
WHERE TO STAY iven that Hong Kong International Airport is only 45 G minutes’ drive (or 25 minutes by Airport Express shuttle train) from mainland Hong Kong, getting to your hotel will be quite easy. This is not something to sniff at, as it can be

intimidating travelling to an Asian country if you’ve never ventured to one before. The city centre – ‘Central’ as it’s known to natives – houses all of the large hotel group mainstays, but Kowloon, AKA Dragon City, is the northern area of Hong Kong Island that offers a truly authentic insight into local life. Though calmer than Central, that does not mean it’s quiet. Kowloon is still buzzing during the day, and hums late into the evening. The best place to seek refuge? Hotel sáv. Conveniently located 10 minutes’ walk from Hung Hom Station, Hotel sáv’s sleek, contemporary interiors capture the city’s modern side. Meanwhile the staff’s sunny, helpful disposition certainly dispels the stereotype that Hongkongers are rude. The rooms are equally cheery, with white walls and bed linen accented by pop bright hues. K The views are sensational and you'll get to sip Earl Grey Martinis as the towering Pacific Place venue woos you with its ultra cool wood, metal and glass décor. Given this high-tech paperless hotel is a favourite amongst young Hongkongers, it’s best to book to secure your place at the 14-metre limestone bar. Things get a little rowdier as you make your way to Lan Kwai Fong, the go-to area for pubs, wine bars and hidden bolt-holes. Soak up LKF’s energy at the Mercedes me Store Hong Kong. Not only does it house a Mercedes Formula 1 race car in the window, the relaxed atmosphere of this sophisticated lounge is brilliant for mingling with the locals. And when you really want to get your evening going, beeline to PLAY. Mere moments up the road, it is the super exclusive, super decadent night venue that reopened in December 2015 after a massive refurbishment. PLAY is Hong Kong’s premier party destination to see, and be seen at. Its new concept, devised by Maximal Concepts founder Xuan Mu, is redefining the club scene with its Dom

WHAT TO DO fter properly immersing yourself in Hong Kong’s party A scene, a gentle recovery day is essential. Start off slow with a bayside promenade along Tsim Sha Tsui’s Avenue of the Stars, which gives an uninterrupted view of Hong Kong while paying homage to its film icons. Then, grab a cab and head to the The Peak for a 360° panorama of the island atop Mount Austin. With or without the city’s infamous haze, this is spectacular. Now, with an awakened appetite, lunch at the New York-style grill Blue Butcher is the only solution. chilli broth with a refreshing swim at the secluded and peaceful Repulse Bay. Any trip to this fascinating island reveals a culture bursting with contrasting elements: modern with traditional, electric with serene. It is a thrilling journey, saturated with a riot of sights, smells, tastes and sounds. Hong Kong is simultaneously exhausting and exhilarating, and you won't wait to go back.

h, Bath! The jewel of Somerset, England’s most beautiful city and the place where they film so many of those BBC period dramas. And why not? The city centre is full of superbly well-preserved Regency architecture and the Royal Crescent offers an urban-historical panorama to rank alongside the London and NYC skylines.
THE HOTEL
T
he Gainsborough Bath Spa occupies two grade II listed buildings in the heart of Bath’s World Heritage site. Named after the artist Sir Thomas Gainsborough, the hotel was originally built in the 19th century. But while it still boasts distinguished Georgian and Victorian facades, the interior has been extensively and expertly remodelled to create a grand yet welcoming space that blends subtle period details with contemporary luxury. Expect five-star amenities and service of a very fine sort, in keeping with the location.

t the heart of The Gainsborough is, of course, the spa. Called the Spa Village Bath, the complex boasts a four-storey glass atrium which allows light to permeate the space: the resultant atmosphere of serenity is quite something. Drawing its mineral-rich water directly from the city’s original thermal springs, the spa offers natural pools of varying temperatures as well as both traditional and infrared saunas, a steam room and an ice cove. The treatment menu is extensive and my massage was little short of heavenly.
THE FOOD
T

This is his debut venture outside his native country and he’s taken an exciting ‘dining without borders’ approach, bringing together diverse influences, ingredients and flavours in a menu that’s marvellously enticing yet admirably succinct.

A look inside the Shoreditch rental market
T
he Shoreditch rental market is beginning to heat up again, following the yearly trend; as students start to look for accommodation and recent graduates use their improved incomes to upgrade their surroundings. Stock levels are unusually high right now. The huge glut of rental properties available at the end of April, due to the 3% stamp duty increase for buy-to-let landlords soaked up every tenant in Shoreditch and properties have been slow to move over the first half of May. For the time being therefore, it is still possible to get a good deal on your next rental apartment with plenty to see and rents a little lower than this time last year. However in the next few weeks stock levels will reduce and the tables are likely to turn, with a flood of applicants and few properties available to rent. If you’re looking for a place to rent we recommend getting in early and securing a place before the height of summer. u

HOMES with HISTORY London developments with a story
A
s you travel around London it can feel like every street is being redeveloped from huge towers of gleaming glass to smaller, more boutique affairs. And you’d be right. The capital is the scene of a significant building boom at the moment as developers race to keep up with demand. Last year a significant amount of new bricks and mortar were squeezed into the city, with some 25,000 new homes built. But all is not as new as it seems. Underneath the builders’ dust, there is plenty of London’s history peeking out. You may think you’re buying a swish new pad, but it could be where Kings frolicked, power stations belched, Roman centurions bathed or TV programmes recorded. With at least 2,000 years of a turbulent, colourful and rich history below and around us, who knows? Here are some of the developments for sale at the moment where such history can be found.
ROYAL RIVERSIDE, CITY OF LODON
London and is where the first Roman quays and baths in Londinium were built. The site later became one of King Henry VIII’s favourite entertainment spots and then much later a location for Sir Christopher Wren’s Custom House. This was blitzed during WWII and replaced with the HQ for Tate & Lyle. But now it’s more about suites than sweets. Today, 165 apartments are being built on this bankside plot, which overlooks Tower Bridge, the Tower of London and the Thames. Landmark Place, 020 7048 0344 or barrattlondon/ landmarkplace.
FORMER RAILWORKS, STRATFORD
Apartments from £399,950 his site was where some 1,702 steam locomotives, 5,500 T carriages and 33,000 goods wagons were built for the Great Eastern Railway from the mid-19th century until 1991 when the works closed. The area was a hub for railway lines, commerce and administration all of which is gone now,

soon to be replaced by Prospect East, a development of 173 luxury apartments within five buildings each named after some of the most famous locomotives made on the site. More information, 020 8003 1718 or prospecteast.co.uk.
OLD ASYLUMN, MUSWELL HILL
Apartments from £585,000 t Luke’s hospital was one of the first asylums in the UK to care for S those with mental health problems and, after being housed first in Moorfields and then Old Street, a third complex, on Woodside Avenue in Muswell Hill, was built during the 1930s. Seemingly barbaric incarnations techniques were developed to cure patients including cold water plunge baths, designed to ‘shake patients out of their insanity’. The later, third hospital was closed by the local Foundation Trust in 2011. The site is currently being redeveloped into 161 apartments and has been renamed Woodside Square. I
have always enjoyed being on the move. Growing up 10 minutes from the Thames with parents who were antivehicle meant I spent hours at weekends exploring St James’s Park and Embankment. By the time I was a teenager, I knew the majority of central and south London like the back of my hand. Whilst at school I didn’t have a longterm plan, but I was sure I did not want to spend every hour of a five day week sat in front of a computer. Having travelled through South America and Southeast Asia for four months post-school, my time at university was cut short after an ankle dislocation five weeks into my first term. This brought a swift end to my rugby career and a lengthy rehabilitation process, and although it did not feel like this while in hospital, I often think it was a blessing in disguise. A few months down the line I started working for BlakeStanley. I had visited East London a few times over the years but had never spent any significant time here and was surprised and intrigued by the diversity it offers. I was immediately taken in by the
This East London triangle offers the perfect platform for us
eclectic mix of people and property, all hailing from different styles and eras. Likewise, I was impressed with the way in which the area maintains much of its original charm in parks and pubs whilst embracing a newer world of coffee shops, bars and restaurants. Being based on Broadway Market is great, it offers a vivacious workplace with its thriving Saturday market and London Fields just a short walk away. During my two years at BlakeStanley I’ve enjoyed watching the company go from strength to strength, growing from one office to three, with new offices on Chatsworth Road and Balls Pond Road. This East London triangle offers the perfect platform for us to consistently offer a wide range
of property, giving our clients unrivalled customer service and realistic and honest advice. On a personal level, along with the day to day selling of houses and flats in the area, I have been fortunate to be involved in the sale and acquisition of some of the most impressive sites and buildings in Hackney Wick, steeped in a history of artists, factory workers and more. Hackney Wick is an area of London I didn’t really know until I started working in East London, but I’ve found watching the recent changes fascinating. My hope is that it maintains as much of its heritage as possible and avoids becoming a sea of glass buildings. In the post Olympic 2012 era, and with Stratford already largely developed, there is a great opportunity for developers to provide homes and workspaces using and expanding existing structures, thus preserving the character and soul of the area. It is a very interesting time for the UK housing market, with many people keeping a close eye on what’s going on. But with demand consistently outstripping supply in the area, I can see no real signs of the market cooling off.

The Parasol and Victoria Miro galleries are located next door for art enthusiasts, while Sadler’s Wells is a mecca for dance productions. Ideally located within walking distance of London’s financial centre, City Wharf is the ultimate location for city professionals. The imminent arrival of Crossrail from nearby Farringdon to Heathrow Airport in 2018 will also simplify access to the major flight routes out of London. u FABRICA 020 3642 8973; fabrica.co.uk

MOVING OUT Where to go if you’re saying goodbye
I
t was revealed recently that 65% of Londoners intend to move out of the capital in the next five years. Whether it’s the prospect of battling the choked streets, dodging parking tickets or playing sardines on the tube, something is pushing people out. The research, by agent Strutt & Parker for its annual Housing Futures survey, also revealed that of those intending to move, 29% said they were looking to move to the South East, 10% to East Anglia and 8% to the South West – while 3% were looking to move overseas. But surprisingly few were looking for an easier, simpler way of life, the survey showed. Londoners, it would seem, want to get out of the smoke but still want the latte guzzling, cinema visiting, gym bashing, theatre attending, fashion finding, fast broadband life we enjoy in the capital. “It was also interesting to see that not all Londoners looking to leave the capital are expecting to move to a much larger home with a lot of land,” says Stephanie McMahon, Head of Research at Strutt & Parker. Whatever the reason for your move, here are some of the most popular places people choose to go to in each of the counties around London, as revealed by personal finance website TotalMoney.com. u

CAMBRIDGE: ne of the further afield magnets for those escaping London is Cambridge and the ‘golden villages’ to its south. The city is a one hour and 20 minute train ride into Liverpool Street from Cambridge’s main, central station while from Great Shelford, for example, it’s 10 minutes quicker. Local agent Bidwells says Cambridge’s popularity is easy to spot as you approach the city, which is currently crammed with cranes as some 14 homes developments proceed – a huge number for a small conurbation like this. In bustling Manchester, for example, there are 21 new projects under way. All of this is pushing up house prices in Cambridge which have risen by 50% from their pre-financial crash high, and rising by 13.6% at the moment, according to Hometrack. u

NOTTING HILL FILM FLAT STARTS A NEW CHAPTER
t is easy to forget how successful the 1999 romantic comedy Notting Hill was. After its release fans would flock to see the bookshop on which Hugh Grant’s fictional outlet in the film was based, and an auction to sell the blue door featured in the film made newspaper headlines. The film cemented Grant’s reputation as a movie star and centred on his character’s on-off relationship between famous actress Anna (Julia Roberts) after she walks into his independent bookshop. Richard Curtis penned the story after visiting The Notting Hill Bookshop in Blenheim Crescent, just off Portobello Road. The apartment’s owner Sarah Anderson is moving out after living above the shop for 35 years – she sold the business in the 1990s before the film was made, but continued to run it for the new owners until 2005. It’s on the market for £1.495m. Marsh & Parsons 0207 313 2890 marshandparsons.co.uk

popular with the super wealthy. But if you want to rent rather than pay a hefty price to buy one, then a four bedroom, third-floor apartment is available to rent for £22,500 per week or £1.17 million a year. The property offers a gilded existence of panic rooms, bulletproof glass, post that’s x-rayed before being delivered and a tunnel through to the neighbouring five-star Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The apartment also has a swimming pool, sauna and steam room, private exercise suites, treatment rooms, gym and golf simulator. Tunstall Property 0203 011 1775 tunstallproperty.co.uk

his loft apartment at Concordia Wharf between Bermondsey and London Bridge was once used as Fagin’s lair for his gang of juvenile pickpockets in the 1968 hit musical film Oliver! You might have to pick a pocket or two to afford this unique property as it’s on the market for £965,000. Converted in the 80s, it was originally used to store grain, tea and spices, and is considered one of the more authentic warehouse homes in the neighbourhood. The apartments were all sold as shells which means each one is unique and can be re-modelled again. On the fourth floor, with one reception room and one bathroom, it’s got exposed brick walls, beamed ceilings and plenty of light throughout. There’s also a swimming pool and communal roof garden in the block along with extra storage and a parking space. Anderson Rose 0203 324 0188 andersonrose.co.uk

LONDON’S MOST EXPENSIVE ADDRESS?
o you remember the fuss about One Hyde Park when the development launched in 2011 and one of the apartments was sold for £140 million? The development generated huge interest around the world and in London when its 86 apartments went on the market with price tags starting at £20m. Its shining towers remain

ctress Kate Winslet recently scooped the Best Supporting Actress BAFTA. But the Titanic star is almost as famous for getting into scrapes with neighbours. Most recently she moved with husband Ned Rocknroll from New York to live on the West Sussex coast. The couple bought a Grade II-listed house for £3.25m but fell out with Natural England who feared her plans for a barrier would damage the habitat. The actress experienced similar problems with her previous home in Treyford, where she was forced to withdraw an application to build a wooden gate. Winslet’s first forays came after making her name in Titanic back in 1998 when the then 22-year-old used £200,000 of her fortune to buy this three bedroom getaway in Angarrack. It’s now got a £400,000 price-tag. The Modern House 0203 795 5920 themodernhouse.com
