VIP PREMIERE OF CIRQUE DU SOLEIL'S KURIOS

VIPs were out in force for the new Cirque du Soleil show, KURIOS, which we covered in these pages back in January. The show premiere at the Royal Albert Hall welcomed the likes of Sir Brian May, Sir David Jason, Dame Kelly Holmes, Elizabeth Hurley, Anita Dobson, Anthea Turner, Ferne McCann, Fred Sirieix, Freddie Fox, Jeremy Irons, Greg Wise, Lee Mack, Leigh Francis and many more.

KURIOS is a show that really celebrates the imagination. It follows the journey of a scientist, who believes that a hidden, invisible world exists. Set in the second half of the 19th century during the industrial revolution, the show takes aesthetic inspiration from this era. It’s about the capacity to invent and dream, and people will leave the show feeling like anything is possible.

As the VIPs witnessed, there are acts in this show that can’t be seen anywhere else in the world. Acro-Net, which was built up in our January preview, lived up to the billing. A team of six acrobats propel another performer 45ft up in the air, which was a thrill to watch and a huge crowd pleaser.

It was an act that, much like the show, shows that just because something doesn’t exist yet, it doesn’t mean it can’t be dreamt up and made a reality. KURIOS is truly a dazzling show that’s well worth heading into London for.
