Wine recommendations for the month

By WINE&SOMETHING

Champagne Corbon Absolument Brut NV  £40

Domaine Gueguen Petit Chablis 2016  £15

Gros Ventre High Country Red Passe-tout-Grains 2017  £25

This non-vintage

Champagne grown from just 2.7ha has a base of 2009 paired with other recent vintages, and o ers a truly appealing palate of creamy almonds, white fl owers and lots of sweet, juicy cherries. This has fl esh and fruit, and fi nishes polished and elegant.

A Petit Chablis that o ers wonderful freshness in a rich vintage. This moderately simple but fl avoursome wine opens up with notes of smoky gunfl int that is further fl eshed out by red apples and lime. Unlike some other Petit Chablis, the grapes for this one are grown on the region’s famous Kimmeridgian soil.

This unique wine delivers a lifted nose and crunchiness on the palate. It o ers aromas of pomegranate, cherry, violets and sweet spice. The Gamay brings supple and generous red fruit fl avours with lively acidity. A wonderful example of this style of wine, rarely seen outside of Burgundy.
