Our resident mama-to-be reveals the six brands and services that have seen her through her pregnancy…

Words: Frankie Hilton

As I hit the third trimester, I want to take a moment to acknowledge some of the amazing services, experiences, and brands I’ve come across in the last 27 weeks as an expat mummy-to-be…

Mums & Bumps

• I was determined not to shop maternity. I had seen enough #bumpinspo on Instagram to feel confident I could style my way through it. Fast forward to three months in and I couldn’t be more relieved to shop maternity! I recently shopped on the fab Middle East-based website Mums & Bumps for fitness bits for my weekly yoga class. They also have great workwear from Isabella Oliver.

Exhale

• Speaking of my weekly yoga class… I wasn’t much of a yogi before pregnancy. However, pregnancy yoga I can do! It’s how I always envisaged it; calming and strengthening. I go to EXHALE in JBR on a Tuesday morning with the lovely Yousra Diab. She ensures a full-body workout, with the perfect balance of mind, body, spirit – plus laughs.

Baby2Body

• Another great form of exercise is the Baby2Body app. I don’t use it as much as I would like to – because, you know, I’m growing a baby – but I do recommend you download it for weekly workout suggestions. They’re fantastic for home or gym. The app also works in the same way as Pregnancy+, with daily updates on your baby journey.

A MASSAGE PROMISES TO HELP ALLEVIATE MANY OF THE DISCOMFORTS THAT COME WITH BEING PREGNANT”

Tips & Toes

• Tips & Toes offers the most fantastic prenatal massage. I highly recommend booking time with Rose in the new Springs Souk branch. The massage (AED336) promises to help alleviate many of the discomforts that come with being pregnant, and aims to create balance that will level out hormones. Relax and enjoy, before the little one comes and you don’t have time!

Sprii

• Mums, you can buy absolutely everything on this website. My shopping cart has included a Tommee Tippee steriliser, Sunveno diaper bag, pregnancy pillows, nipple creams, and the Baby Zen Yoyo. And everything can be found at hugely discounted prices. It’s the only time you can get multiple daily deliveries past your husband (“it’s not for me, it’s for the baby!”).

Love Parenting

• I have already met the ladies behind Love Parenting UAE who hold the classes “introduction to hypnobirthing” and I’m really excited to get started. I’ve enrolled myself and my husband for a onemonth course. A friend of mine had a fantastic experience and I’d really like to encourage an equally calming birthing experience.
