CLASS OF 2009 GR Dear Graduates, First off, I want to thank Principle Pool, the Vivids, and the Filters, for all of their guidance during our tenure in Standard these past two years.

LET’S TAKE A L

The time has come for us to make way for the next class to be dealt their hand, realize new partnerships, and tap into their true potential. We’ve been through countless PTQs together, and traveled the world during our own GP Season. Truly, we can feel confident that we have impacted this magical plane together. Through our many trials, some of us have developed the skills necessary to lead us to greater formats, while still others will find their success in a cube or working under a legendary general, some, including our planeswalkers will continue our legacy in Standard.

SPECIAL PREVIEW

ZENDIKAR. WORLD OF PERIL.

Magic the Gathering is about to go through its quartly shakeup as the next big set

arrives in the form of Zendikar. The set clears the way for a new version of standard magic as it shuts the door on Lorwyn Block and creates it’s path in the Magic History books. So sit back relax and read about some of the neat changes to Zendikar.

BASIC LANDS. FULL ART.

Another Unique feature about Zendikar pertains to the update to the land in standard booster packs. Before hand, people would throw away these lonely pieces of art now with the introduction of Full-Art lands into booster packs Basic Lands have will truly be even more valueable.

ALL NEW. 3 PLANESWALKERS.

WRATH OF GOD. REDONE.

After being surprises with the reprinting of the orginal 5 planeswalkers in M10. Magic Fans have a new team of Super Stars on the horizon. In Zendikar, it has been confirmed that we will be recieving three all new planewalkers that will surely dominate new standard magic. The real question is which one will you choose? 8 TF Magazine

And Now Zendikar has a SUPER Chase Rare. When Damnation was created in Planar Choas we new how special it would be. With the loss of WRATH OF GOD the public has been crying out for it’s new hero. And in Zendikar we now have one. Day of Judgement is a little different that the legend of WOG but will still be a critical card in Standard Magic.

5 ENEMY FETCHLANDS

Enemy Fechlands are going to

create a new and exciting world in standard magic. But the kids in exteneded benefit the most with the recreation of the onslaught land set. By reprinting these cards PT Austin has the tools it needs to truly be bad to the bone as it pertains to splashing away as these twenty dollar bills splash the local cardshop near you!

TRAPS. QUESTS. LANDFALL

TIME WARS TOP 10

TIME WARS. NEW CARDS. NEW TECH.

Maul is the best card overall in the Time Wars expansion, considering some of the best cards in the format are free cards, this card functions more often than not as a free card in constructed. Compost Pile gets the next spot on the list due with it’s amazing synergy with many cards in the format and it’s ability to bust out multiple creatures per turn will make this card an auto include in most decks. Tower of Soul is in a very close race with Compost Pile, with drawing cards as it’s engine, this card is a easy include in the mono-evil decks that are running around constructed Epic Tournaments. Time Capsule is possibly the most abusable Object in the Top 10. With it’s ability to be recurred along with giving it’s owner cards and their action makes this card a combo decks dream!

Charging Styracosaures Don’t underestimate the power of this guy. Impossible to stop and very difficult to remove or block because of it’s big body. Will be a powerhouse in Aggro Wild Decks.

Blood Hound and Charging Styracosaures are almost interchangable on our list. But the higher power gave the big boy the top slot. But Blood Hound will function as a very useful Tim against Facilitators and Echoing Mages. Slash is probably the coolest and slickest cards in the Time Wars, straight removal or damage with a super bonus of 2 extra cards will be huge in Wild Burn decks. Dorygnathus This is anywhere from fair to amazing, depending on how manyobjects your opponent are playing. Stealing a Compost Pile or Shield is quite good and drawing a card only isn’t bad. Peaceful Exile isn’t Maul, but it is appearant that this card will become a great tournament staple with the ability to knock out both champions and objects in Good is a very useful tool for Constructed decks. Power Play takes the last slot on our list based on it’s durablity. Having too many Stop spells won’t help in every scenario and being able to cycle this away will be very useful in many decks and I mention this card is uncounterable? TF Magazine 10

September 2009 Edition September 4th: Gamer, Extract What’s the Biggest: Gamer What’s the Best: Extract Finally, August is behind us and a new group of movies have arrived leading with the action adventure movie Gamer starring Gerald Butler. This movie is basically Death Race without the Cars, which in some peoples perspective will make for a better movie. As for Extract, Mike Judge has hit on all of his Quarky movies like Office Space and Idiocracy. His latest movie outlines the myriad of issues surrounding an owner of an extract company.

September 11th: 9, Sorority Row What’s the Biggest: Sorority Row What’s the Best: 9 9 looks to have all the makings of a classic. As civilation falls to rogue machines, a scientist breaths life into 9 cute yet creepy automatons that set out on a quest to stop the machines and save their new world. With Tim Burton producing and a all star cast lending thier voices this is sure to be a visual treat as well as an unique and memorable story. There isn’t much to say about Sorority Row, it will be horrible, these movies always are. And because it’s about girls it will win the weekend. Very lame.

September 18st: Jennifer’s Body, Love Happens What’s the Biggest: Love Happens What’s the Best: Love Happens Jennifer’s Body, another Megan Fox movie. Bottom-line is, she isn’t a very good actress. And this movie, although a horror movie, shouldn’t be a big movie that weekend. By the time Love Happens rolls around it will have been 5 weeks since the last romantic comedy Ugly Truth. By that time, people will be welcome to getting a new love story into the fold. Expect a big weekend from this Aniston starring love story.

September 25th: Surrogates, Whiteout What’s the Biggest: Surrogates What’s the Best: Surrogates This is the best movie week amongst the September releases as for winning the box office, Bruce Willis hasn’t released a movie that wasn’t number one in the box office in a few years. And he isn’t going to start with this Sci-Fi romp. Surrogates is about a world where humanoid robots have taken over the day to day operations of there surrogate counterpart until a string of killings occur that result in the deaths of both parties. Whiteout on the other hand also seems like it has promise starring Kate Beckinsale who never dissapoints at the Box Office who is stuck in the artic where a string of murders occur that are threatening herself and all of her people.
