Shining the Light of Zeta in the Greater Indianapolis Area! Upsilon Omega Zeta Chapter-Fishers, IN.
Upsilon Omega Zeta has kept busy for the 2011-2012 sorority year! Making sure our Zeta light is always shining, we have now achieved goals that were once felt as impossible to achieve. Last year, the chapter took home various awards at the 2011 Regional Conference in Milwaukee, WI. The awards included 1st Place Z-HOPE (5-25 members), 2nd Place Chapter Report (5-25 members), 2nd Place Chapter Scrapbook (5-25 members) and 2nd Place Youth Scrapbook. Upsilon Omega Zeta chapter enjoys working hard and surpassing the bar to fulfill our Zeta duties.
Scholarship The chapter started the sorority year by collecting numerous school supplies that were donated to a halfway house in the city of Indianapolis. The chapter conducts various projects at this halfway house that focuses on rehabilitating the residents to become better members of society. The chapter continued their scholarship endeavors by donating funds to a local elementary

school that will assist students in need of uniforms and a donation was made to the National Education Foundation as well. Service When it comes to service, the chapter says we can never do too much! Our service projects for this sorority year included the ten National Z-HOPE initiatives as well as donating items to local shelters, finding ways to help our soldiers that are overseas, assisting families during the holidays and many others. Our most recent project included assisting persons that were affected by the tornadoes in the southern area of Indiana. Sisterly Love This is one founding principle that the members of the chapter makes sure we do not forget! Sisterly love is very important to our chapter because without it, we cannot exemplify greatness through our founding principles. The chapter recognizes birthdays and Zetaversaries at every chapter meeting. We also created a “secret sister” program that is similar to “secret santa” but lasts for the entire sorority year. Various bonding activities are created monthly so that every soror can feel a part of the chapter and get to know others better. Many of our activities this year included attending movies, concerts, trips and dining out.
Finer Womanhood During Finer Womanhood Week, the chapter incorporated weekly projects that included ZHOPE for a woman’s shelter, health initiatives through Z-HOPE, sisterly bonding, a bully awareness program and other Z-HOPE projects to show the importance of being the best woman you can be! Stork’s Nest The stork’s nest program is something very dear to the chapter. Upsilon Omega Zeta was the first chapter to have two nests within the state of Indiana. Recently, our nest was awarded a $19,000 grant. The grant will allow us to take things to a new and exciting level while focusing on keeping unborn babies healthy longer. We are proud of our nest and achieving this grant was a very big accomplishment for us this year.

Youth Groups Our chapter is not the only one that has earned a grant. Last spring our youth submitted a grant (that required the youth members to write it) for a healthy fitness program. Our youth group was awarded over $600 to bring awareness to this topic. Youth obesity is rising across the country. Our youth has realized the importance of the issue and will host a Fit and Healthy Program that will expose knowledge to the community about eating right, exercising and taking care of your body so that you can live a healthier life. Kudos to our youth for achieving this prestigious award!
