ABOUT US ZGF Cotter Architects Inc. (ZGF Cotter) is an international, award-winning architecture, planning and interior design firm with a commitment to design excellence, stewardship of our natural and built environment, and exceptional client service.
We have been working in the City of Richmond for over 15 years and are proud to have established a strong working relationship with the City of Richmond and its various department leaders. Our Urban Design and Planning team has designed and managed the approval of several of Richmond’s largest masterplanned communities, including Parc Riviera along the north arm of the Fraser River and Steveston’s London Landing. We also worked with the City of Richmond to facilitate public consultation and develop a concept plan and planning criteria for a new Hamilton Neighbourhood Area Plan. During the design and construction of our Richmond-based Remy project, a number of technical and code challenges presented themselves as a result of it being the first 6-storey wood frame residential project in Canada. This provided an opportunity to further hone our relationship through the process of jointly resolving these challenges with the City.
Currently, our firm has completed over 25 projects in the City of Richmond, which include the master planning and design of a wide range of mixed-use, commercial, market residential, rental housing, and affordable rental housing projects.
At ZGF Cotter, we possess a keen awareness of the market conditions that can affect the success of a project, specifically in the City of Richmond. We have a deep understanding of the development process, urban land economics, and which mechanisms to utilize at the City to ensure that a site is able to achieve its full potential.
