SOCIAL INTERACTION
NEIGHBORHOOD EVOLVES THE AIM OF THE PROJECT IS TO PRESERVE THE MARGINAL CHARACTER OF THE BOWERY AND THE SPIRIT OF THE NEW MUSEUM THROUGH A SERIES OF ‘MISFIT’ INTERVENTIONS AS A MEANS OF DEINSTITUTIONALIZATION. THE MUSEUM WILL BE TIED TOGETHER WITH THE REST OF THE BLOCK THROUGH EXTERIOR CIRCULATION RATHER THAN A CENTRALIZED CORE, ALLOWING FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A BOWERY-BASED ARTISTS’ COMMUNITY AS WELL AS A DEGREE OF GENTRIFICATION CONTROL AS THE OVER TIME.

EARTHQUAKE MEMORIAL PLAZA
Most people who were born before 2000 will have a clear memory about the earthquake. They experienced this disaster by their own eye and many of them lost their relatives in it. THEIR EMOTION IS SO STRONG that memorial should be the only function in this site.
EMOTION OF BUILDING TRANSFORMS AS TIME GOES ON Collaborator: Li Cen; Tutor: Zhou Rong
BE INFORMED THROUGH EAR Some children who was born after 2000 or born in next several years have no sharp memory. They might known the disaster from others such as their parents. THEIR EMOTION WILL BE MORE SMOOTH than their parents.
LEARN FROM BOOKS People who will be born in faraway future will have no their own memory about this earthquake. They learn about the disaster from history book just like I learning massacre in world war II. THEIR EMOTION WILL RETURN TO NORMAL.
DISASTER The Wenchuan Earthquake was a deadly earthquake occurred on May 12, 2008 in Sichuan province of China. Official figures state that 69,197 are confirmed dead, including 68,636 in Sichuan province, with 18,222 listed as missing. It left about 11 million people homeless.
MEMORIAL
After Wenchuan Earthquake and approximatedly 70000 people's death, Sichuan and the whole nation plunged into deep sorrow.
RECONSTRUCTION Survivors haven't given up their hope. They need to rebuild homeland on the ruins. Life will go on.
