01 NATURAL SCIENCE MUSEUM As the origin of natural environment, minimal surface is a principal geometry which we see in anywhere. The continuous surface shape the space into a coherent experience. The form of minimal surface is adaptive to the user of the museum.

PROTOTYPE The prototype follows a basic cube. To devide the cube into eight modular small cube, the vectors could be connected by 6 folded surfaces. Then, the interactive surfaces will consist of the larger cube.

TRANSFORMATION The prototype can transform to many things. Folding surface can make the light flow from one space to another space. The interesting lighting effect is generated by logic of the prototype scales.

BUILDING The continuous surface create a space different from the traditional museum. We use the concept positive-negative space to make the felling of people become blur and transparent. On one hand, the post-negative space can make the wind and sunlight crossfire in interior. On the other hand, the continuous space can make visitors walk into exhibitions smoothly. The building include 2 main exhibitions and some offices. The 1st floor grey space can extend to the main plaza. Citizens will not be denied by the fence. The nature science museum should not become a academic or serious image, it should be a weaken volume building and closed to normal people. The positive exhibition will use artificial light to create the interior environment. The negative exhibition will use nature light, it will make the environment become more lively.

MASSING Using the rotation, mirroring and flipping to come up with the mass, and the space inside or outside.

02 THE CHRYSLER BUILDING REDESIGN The tower which designed by William Van Alan has gone through almost a hundred years. It is one of the most famous Art Deco Building in Midtown Manhattan. With alternative of age, the newer forms of business were emerging in the past 20 years. Foremost among these is the Internet relative. The equivalent of the Chrysler Corporation might be the Tesla electrical cars. It represent the new distribution mode and the new office space. The principle of the design is using the negative space. For the demand of enhancing the public space, the activity rings have been applied to the sky to reanimate the space. Also, the Art Deco style elements have been reserved and restored in the vertical atrium. To rethink status of the iconic buildings, the original building has been through as a void. The entire design focus on decreasing pressure of the landmark skyscrapers.

CONCEPT To eliminate and retake the previous Chrysler Building, the Chrysler Building has been seen as a filler of the atrium. The activity rings have been applied at the setback position, and shifted to connect different levels.

FACADE The triangular window which located on the crown of the Chrysler Building has been selected as the representative Art Deco element. To control the lighting, I have designed three different size of frame in the interior facade. For the outside of the building, I used the round hole aluminum perforated sheet to block the light and reserve the view of New York City.

STRUCTURE

Because of the inverted-triangular shape elevation, most of the stress will concentrate step by step. The strategy I used is to add auxiliary columns to increase the stability. For each towers, there are 16 elevators go through 1F-40F, and 16 elevators go through 40F-80F.

ACTIVITY RING The activity rings are the most attractive part for the design. The different rings will be served to different group of people. The bottom and the top will be opened to the public people, and the middle rings will be the catalysts for the different departments of the corporations.

03 STARTUP CENTER Nowadays, start-up has became the most popular word in the world. With the development of technology, more and more young people go into setting up their own companies. For the startup corporation, looking for a suitable office environment is even more important. The typical building unable to adapt the characteristics of startup corporation. They need more flexible, customizable, effective and convenient space. To simplify the form of traditional building, we used the modular container as a basic component to assemble a opened and adaptive office environment.

One side of the container can be opened to make a balcony. Can create a space is more unlimited and use the sunlight effectively.

Two containers can join in horizon. It will make the space wider. For the company need to work together, this form is more suitable.

2 containers can join in vertical. 2 or more containers can make a multi level space and it is more appropriate to the company need to work by themselves.

04 GREATOO INTELLIGENT HEADQUARTER

The Greatoo Intelligent Headquarter is a actual project which located in Guangzhou, China. The client demands using the diamond as a corperative identity in the design. As the requirement, I came up with the concept from the site to adapt the organization of the firm.

CONCEPT The design follow the flow of wind. The current split the site into three piece of cube. Also, because the site is on a large open plain, the round corner will be useful to resist the wind load.

SPLIT THE MASS BY PROGRAM

CFD ANALYSIS To reduce the impact of wind load, I used the CFD software to analyze how the different massing influence the intensity of wind. After the study, the ridges and peaks might be the best shape of the building. Also, the parametric facade helps to guide the wind flow over the building. The interior design follow the strategy of massing generation. Using the streamline to emphasize the experience of continuous space.

05 DISCRETE HOUSE Because of the economic crisis, the typical residential mode was increasingly exposed with problems. The developers operate fixed residence for general family. Instead of adopting the traditional one, the discrete house used the module and could assemble into a self-adaptive house. Using different linking method, the components could be arranged to different space to adapt different usage for family members.
