ZION HILL OUTREACH
Hurricane Relief to Louisiana Residents
A
s a reflection of Jesus Christ, once again, Zion Hill Baptist Church demonstrates the words of Matthew 25: 35-40, “ For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison, and you came to visit. Truly, I tell you whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it for me.” Zion Hill Church whose core existence is Outreach, indeed loves the Lord with all our hearts, souls, and minds. We do love our neighbors, whether near or far.
Zion Hill quickly sprang into action to aid many in the Louisiana area devastated by Hurricane Ida, which included many of the seniors. They were underwater and without electricity. Working with Rev. Michael Matthews and the Dropping the Net Ministries, Zion Hill purchased and donated twenty generators and twenty window air conditioners to offer some relief. As Hurricane Ida continued to raise havoc, Zion Hill’s demonstration of our love and commitment continued to soar. With Pastor Parker’s approval, four of Zion Hill’s dedicated servants including Brother Wilbert Antoine, Brother Carl Labat, Brother Larry O’Connor, and Deacon Thomas
Williams, drove to Houma, LaPlace, and Reserve, Louisiana to deliver 300, $50 Wal-Mart gift cards. The following organization were blessed by Zion Hill’s generous donation: New Wine Christian Fellowship Church Community, Pastor Neil Bernard; The New Rising Sun Baptist Church Community, Pastor Kenneth Wayne Jackson, Houma. LA; Upsilon Mu Zeta Alumnae Chapter Zeta Phi Beta in La Place, LA, Coordinator, Lynette Recasneor; Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Community in Reserve, LA, where Father Amandi is the Priest.

rothers and sisters, on 10/28/2021 the Zion Hill COVID-19 Task Force met to discuss some possibilities for reassembling in person. Given the generally
lowering trends of the disease, including cases, hospitalizations and deaths, we came to an agreement that we would do a one-time, trial reassembly on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at 9:30 am. After this date, we will take a few weeks to assess how we did and hopefully announce soon after this period of assessment a time when we can begin regular worship services in person. For this December 12 service, of course, all will be required to wear mask (per the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC), we will make testing available during the week leading up to this service (dates to be announced), and we will encourage as much physical distancing as

possible. For those who have not yet gotten your vaccines, you can still do so before this date. For those who cannot get a vaccine, we strongly urge you to take advantage of the testing here at the Church and elsewhere in a wide variety of locations. Most importantly, let us pray, and pray fervently, for a glorious experience in God and the safety of the entire church family. If you wish to wait a little while longer before reassembling, or until we establish regular times for services, please feel free to do so and join with your brothers and sisters in Christ virtually. As usual, the services will be live streamed as they have for the past 20 months. Again, we will have a single trial, in-person worship service on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at 9:30 am. Please try to arrive before 9:25 am. We look forward to sharing a blessed time with all who decide to come in person as well as those who will join virtually. n —Pastor Parker

The four faithful servants hand delivered the Wal-Mart gift cards, which gave them the opportunity to share Zion Hill’s motto, “Living to Love and Loving to Serve”.
We want to acknowledge the tireless effort of Sister Sheryl Chinn, Trustee Chair, and those who assisted in purchasing of the gift cards. Much appreciation is extended to Brothers Labat, O’Connor, and Antoine for making contacts prior to the trip to ensure things ran smoothly. Thank you, Outreach Team, for your immeasurable support, as well as a genuine thank you must be given to Pastor Parker and the entire Zion Hill Family for the opportunity to serve. n — Deacon Thomas Williams Zion Hill Outreach Ministry
Brother Antoine shared these words, “Despite the everyday challenges faced by the hurricane victims, they are determined to rebuild. Talking to the people in the communities, you could feel their resilience not to give up. Each person stressed how their faith is getting them through each day. They were very appreciative of the gift cards given. But more importantly, our on-site visit showed that we truly cared for them. That gesture of kindness on

MONOCLONAL ANTIBODY UPDATE
T
here has been a lot of news and discussion lately about monoclonal antibodies -- what are they? What do they do? And what is the place for them in the fight against COVID-19? This article will address those questions and others about availability of the monoclonal antibody in Georgia. ******** First, we need to know what an antibody is.
Antibodies are proteins produced by a type of white blood cell to fight a specific invading pathogen-a bacterium, virus or other agent potentially harming to the body. Monoclonal antibodies are produced in a laboratory to combat a single agent within the body. So, Monoclonal antibodies are synthetic, laboratory-created antibodies. They help people at high risk for severe COVID illness, individuals who have recently tested positive for COVID-19 (or within

10 days of symptom onset), or people who are in close contact with persons who have tested positive for COVID. They do not teach a patient’s body how to create its own antibodies. The antibodies are effective when given shortly after diagnosis of COVID 19 is made, or within 10 days of the development of symptoms. Monoclonal antibodies are usually administered by infusion (using an intravenous line) in a hospital setting, or by a series of injections. They are in short supply and must be administered on the p fee scription of a physician. ******** Monoclonal antibodies are not a replacement for COVID-19 vaccination.
“We have safe and highly effective vaccines to protect against COVID-19. It is much easier to get a vaccine than risk becoming seriously ill with life-threatening complications,” said Kathleen E. Toomey, M.D., M.P.H., Commissioner of the Georgia
Department of Public Health. “Monoclonal antibodies are in short supply and high demand and hospital beds are full. What Georgia does have is enough vaccines for all Georgians aged 12 and over to be vaccinated.” The federal government has changed the way COVID-19 monoclonal antibody treatments will be distributed in Georgia, and all states. The decision is the result of supply shortages and extraordinary demand for the treatments across the country, particularly due to the rapid spread of the delta variant. There are currently 136 locations in Georgia where monoclonal antibody treatments are being administered. Patients should talk to their healthcare provider about monoclonal antibody treatments and must have a prescription or physician’s referral to receive the treatments. —Submitted by Jettie Burnett, MD Zion Hill Health Ministry Reference: Georgia Department of Public Health 2 Peachtree Street Atlanta GA 9.16.21

Volunteer with Us! “Train a child the way he should go and make sure you also go the same way.”
–African Proverb
I
f we take a moment and look around us, the young voices we hear at Zion Hill may sound like a lesson that we have taught. When we see our young people wear their high school and collegial colors, we may feel pride because they followed in our footsteps. If you have ever been a part of our Christian Education opportunities, whether with S.O.L.L.A.S. or with Children’s Church and Teen Chapel, then you know that your time, love and investment are not in vain. Zion Hill Family, the Youth and Children’s Ministry is inviting all Christian Educators (past and those who have a fervent desire) to volunteer with us. There is a true need for more teachers in all age groups for Children’s Church and Teen Chapel. The truth is that we have more young people than volunteers. Truthfully, we always have. As
we are increasing our meeting sessions to twice a month, your participation is valuable and needed. Additionally, we are encouraging participation with our youth and children’s quarterly classes for S.O.L.L.A.S. Blast. We have a lot of areas where your volunteerism is needed as it concerns our young people, and those announcements will come. This appeal is for your consideration as it pertains to foundational Bible Study and application. Our young people LOVE God. We are inviting you to be a part of this Ministry. We are inviting you to continue positively impacting our young people, so that they are able to continue making positive contributions in our church, city, and wherever God leads them. n Lovingly, Min. S.O.L.L.A.S. Blast V – A New Learning Experience as we support each other spiritually. This quarter our theme was “COVID-19: A Period of Transition.” Our Virtual ZOOM classes held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 were inspiring, motivating and uplifting, as the teachers creatively expounded on Hope Reinvented; Faith, Hope and Love; Restoring Our Faith and Accepting the New Normal. Pastor Parker concluded the S.O.L.L.A.S. Blast V session on Sunday, October 31st at the 9:30am worship service and he gave us “A Simple Guide to Getting Through” using Psalm 34:4 as the scripture. The Youth and Children’s virtual study session was also Sunday, October 31st at 11:00am. The teachers encouraged the youth to share and discuss their thoughts and feelings as they too are in a season of transition.
Greetings Brothers and Sisters! S.O.L.L.A.S.
