In the world of developing countries, developments are often expected to be rapidly and massively. It has many challenges which require lots of consideration by designers who act as problem-solvers, prepared to make contributions to solving the environmental problems in the world we are facing nowadays. The aim of this project is much more than a strategy to inform people considering the adaptive settlement as a possible design intervention. It is meant for people who wish to make a difference in their lives, in the lives of others, and for the sustainable preservation of the environment through design. The current title suggests the story that follows, beginning with the work for the Malaysia biennial which was meant to show the world how this region would look like in next 100years. However, through a year of research, I found out that there are lots of problems that these developments are bringing to the region. Therefore, this project would detail explain what the problems are and how to solve it.

Ho Chi Minh Cityâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Park and Greenery Oce reports a 50% loss of green space in the past 11 years. Blame is attributed to developers ignoring city requirements for green space. The calculation includes parks, ower gardens, and road-side plants. There are some interesting statistics. Currently there is .7 square meters of green space per person in the 7 million person city. The cityâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s goal is 4 to 5 square meters per person. The World Health Organization has set a global standard of 8 square meters per person.This story illustrates the rapid rate of urbanization in Asia, the importance of green space as a health issue, and the diculties of balancing urban development and human health.

The Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School Project comprises the landscape for the Girlsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; Middle School, integrating and incorporating the Middle School boys as they use the canteen and seating areas at lunchtimes and recess. The design site is bounded by linear buildings running north-south, with pathways joining these spaces in an east-west direction. A vehicle access road enters from the north, running south between the two major building zones. With 600+ students plus additional staff members, the landscape is heavily trafficked, most strongly in evidence closest to the administration building. This space interfaces with both the canteen and the vehicle access road, and is dominated by concrete and asphalt. Drainage here needs careful consideration, due to the elevation change between the access road and the administration building. There is an opportunity to bring water and plantings into this area, while considering safety and human traffic issues presented by a school landscape with a large student population.
