While Restore The Memories Of Waterfront Natural Scenery And Waterfront Lifestyle To The Urban Residents, Consider The Countermeasures For Disturbance To The Ecosystem

01-06

This design aims to realize the sorting out of the tour routes within the site, while establishing a green product cycle that meets the needs of residents’ lives, and expects to use the site’s characteristic agricultural products as the starting point to reconcile the land use conflicts between residents and tourists in the process of urban and rural development. Meanwhile, it provides new ideas for overcoming the bottleneck of China's homogeneous rural cultural tourism.

Through on-site interviews, inquiries about population databases, and literatures on sociology & psychology, I generalized the physical and psychological needs that the elderly will face in aging urban society into the desire for "role recognition", which refers to two aspects: family role (lack of family companionship) and social role (lack of social function).

Therefore, when carrying out specific project planning and design, fully consider the tea culture characteristics of the site and the use needs of people of different age groups, use the slope to deal with the height difference of the site, put in interesting public rest spaces, and create indoor and outdoor healing gardens , to help the elderly regain their roles in the family and society.

With the rapid urbanization process, the migration routes of migratory birds will inevitably overlap with urban areas. West Lake, as an important stop for migratory birds, has now become a world-class scenic spot. The influx of people and the tall buildings make it difficult for migratory birds to find a place that can be stopped on the way to the habitat.

This design aims to respond to the above problems while creating a birdy inn for the migratory birds which allows people to interact with birds without disturbing them, and to solve the lack of public lavatory in the site.

As a typical southern Jingnan water town, the Huzhou area is densely connected with a network of water and abundant resources. The people in this land have chosen to live in the waterfront. They have accumulated the wisdom to co-exist with water and make a living from it for years. With high speed of metropolitanisation, can we still live a life of take a stroll along the river and sing the songs of the fishermen’s life? Is the waterfront life that once existed fading away?

This design hopes to leave a pleasant and natural waterfront space for the emerging high-density city. The Xihuyang Wetland Park will restore the memories of waterfront natural scenery and waterfront lifestyle to the residents of Huzhou.
