ach day, I see that the world is getting bigger. We were once crawling and our happiness were gained on simple things. Now, that we come into the maturity of our cognitive, we understand that the world is a big wild. But I come to realize that the world is not the wilderness we should fear. It is rather the immensities we humans have. We are a being so unfathomable, having deep thoughts and emotions. It is said that one big mystery is how to probe the entire universe. But what you don’t know is that we ourselves and within us is one big mystery that each one of us has to dive in. This introduces the complexity of surviving the world seen as a big wild. We come to meet myriad of people and this means delving the galaxylike enormity of understanding them. Sometimes, we submit and our minds are so susceptive that tend to be like them, losing our being.

Crafted by strong desire to give the best that we could offer, we present to you our issue of magazine for this year. This though cannot be made possible without the support of VMA community so we wholeheartedly extend our thanks. We would like also to thank the VMA Administration, especially Mrs. Elisther Nina Salabas-Ligna who patiently proofread our final dummy, Ms. Phoebe Grace D. Orola, RGC, our ever supportive Student Affairs Service (SAS) Head, who is always on-the-go and willing to support all activities of the pub. Along with this is our printing press, the Makinaugalingon, thank you so much. To our “Motherator” (moderator) , Mrs.Rosela A. Baylon who is with us and help us with our magazine and who most especially through our lowest lows and highest highs, always ready to endure and share sighs and laughter, our love and thanks we sincerely extend to you ma’am. To our models sharing their high face value to the readers and also the persons involved on the topics, our gratitude to all of you. To our readers, thank you for patronizing The Wheelhouse Publication. Let us together soar higher! To God be the Glory!

One big key to success is reading people. See what they see and think what they think but having the ability to conserve one’s self. Be as great as you can and never be afraid of the wild. WORDS// Michelle Tarel A vicinity of hysterics. Eyes burning with hate, screaming their lungs out, banging their heads on the wall, scratching themselves till they bleed, hitting others and laughing eccentrically all of a sudden. In a place where you face psychos every day, will you stay? A nurse with a brave heart did. Mona Lisa De La Rosa, 43 years old, a registered nurse who graduated at Colegio San Agustin – Bacolod, has been working at Bacolod City Mental Health Care Center for 12 years. Clouded with doubts and fear, she honestly stated that she never wanted to land on such job. “I was at the peak of writing out my resignation letter in the first few months,” she said comically. From morning endorsement to field inspection up to patient’s medication, all done in a strange manner because of the patient’s custom or approach on the said predicaments. In her extreme urge to give up, came one of her biggest trial as a nurse. One day, while roaming around to do random morning inspection, she passed by on the Station C. A station composed of Girls and Boys who are in deep treatment and still under observation. It was then by that time, she saw a patient lying flat on the ground with her body somewhat twisted. She desperately ran towards the patient and strained to get her back to her senses. She was responsible; she was the last nurse to administer medication on that patient. She scampered down to the main hall to get help and luckily they were able to bring her to the nearby hospital. According to the doctor, the patient took several amounts of pills and she got overdosed. Mona told herself that if she holds on to detesting her job, she will not be able to work effectively. From that instance, she learned

6

to commit to the. responsibility she felt God gave her through this job. She has to offer more than 100 % of dedication to secure the condition of her patients. She has to let go of her fears and doubts. She realized that she has to face the wild, she just have to stride and flourish herself outside her comfort zone and that is to retain herself in this job. Now it has been her 12th year of service. Psychos for her are no longer psychos but for her they are also human beings. She meets various people and is able to help them. And the familiarities were worth the risks. “Makita mo bala sa pangabudlay mo kag makita mo ang isa ka pasyente nga mapa improve mo siya, isa kadako nga accomplishment,” she added. She admitted that because of the wild atmosphere in the centre, stress is still inevitable. She makes sure to hold on to her composure and deal with stress smartly because if she will not, she might end up on the barracks of her patients too. “Kung ang patience mo 100%, dapat mahimo mo ina 110%”, she exclaimed. Her present encounter last few weeks is on how to deal with a patient who cursed her presence. But she just grinned; her eyes smouldered conveying her compatibility with her job. Nothing is relaxing with this work. To be a psychiatric nurse ,one must be determined, focused, open-minded, meticulous, selfless and brave. There is so much to sacrifice and they do more than what they are tasked. Being a nurse at a mental institution is as easy as wearing a belt. Except that you’re wearing it so tight and it has thorns inward and it feels like you’re wearing it on your neck instead. Bringing a patient back to reality is really hard when they’ve imprisoned themselves in their own version of wilderness.TWH

Twenty first century’s “deadliest” natural disaster will definitely shatter your life down to the core. You can run, dock or take cover but just make sure not to turn back. It is absolutely inexorable. Who then, can escape? Who then, can survive the earth’s natural rage?

E

arthquake has been jotted down as the worst natural phenomenon in human history. It can release energy in a short possible time and lethally kill thousands in just a wink of an eye. It’s horrifically destroying capacity from the hit itself to the aftershock, surely will greatly affect every victim’s lives. Its destruction sadly costs hundreds to thousands of lives and millions of money. The recovery is then too long and it truly crushes hope and causes terrible shock. The world has faced natural calamities since its beginning and the present day time is not in the exempt. No modern technology can accurately predict when an earthquake will occur. Presently this year, Nepal on 25th of April has been included on the list of one of the history’s worst earthquake with more than 5,000 lives taken and destroyed some of the significant sites of the country.

8

thewheelhouse june-november 2015

Our nation is unfortunately on the pit of threat. We are in the Pacific Ring of Fire where earthquakes most likely occur. The deep valley of earth’s continuous moving crust endangers its above. In the Philippines, the mostrecent traumatic tragedy happened in Bohol last October 15, 2013 with 7.5 magnitude, where it killed 150 people, destroyed century old churches and affected more than 3 million families to add. According to study, every day, we experience ground shakings that are too weak that we cannot feel it. What is yet another threat is the aftershock of the disaster. Heightening buildings and industrialized regions where most people are concentrated are at risk to be wiped out in the face of the planet because of liquefaction, slope stability and tsunami.

Usually heard on news, the 90-kilometer “West Valley Fault” is a big threat in the whole National Capital Region where commerce and many industries were in and buildings were built. It stretches from the Province of Bulacan to the Province of Laguna in the south traversing Metro Manila areas.

disaster.

On a joint study of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and counterpart Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) in 2004, where it predicted 7.2 magnitude West Valley Fault as the worst scenario, 170,000 residential houses will collapse and 340,000 will be partly damaged or approximately 40% by potential rupture. It is estimated that 34,000 people will die and 114,000 will be injured. Fire will then fearfully breakout and 18,000 people will perish by this secondary

Take grip of the precautions to save lives. The institute concerned, together with the government is currently on its goal to intensify preparedness. Yet there is actually nothing we can do to stop this natural phenomenon, the PHIVOLCS has released the geological sites prone to earthquake and tsunami. This is of vital warning as well as a caution of the places where it is most likely to occur worse. All that we can do best is to be knowledgeable and diligent enough on this matter so that we can at least prepare ourselves to this threatening scenario.TWH

The whole country, not only NCR is in the nadir of threat. We are one of the countries on the Pacific Ring of Fire and the oceanic trenches and volcanic arcs, anytime, can unleash mayhem, enough to shake us down to the core.

sian Tiger” as labelled because of the considerable growth in the economy and various breakthroughs attained. Is Philippines worth so? With the aim of the country and its co-members in Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) of inclusivity and sustainability, the government assures a thousand per cent effort in leading the nation towards hitting the goal. There have been existing salient points to consider known as economic indicators. The most accurate among it is the measure of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which helps in stabilising the economy and gives confidence among investors that the country is economically good and stable. Since 2010, our country has achieved an incredible growth rate above the expected. From 2010 to 2014, the GDP reached an average growth rate with blow of 6.8 percent - an excellent leap for a developing country. The current debt-to-GDP ratio is the lowest in over the past two decades with 45.4 percent. The said breakthrough gains the 12

confidence of foreign investors and thus creates new job opportunities for everyone, magnetising other horizon of economic potentials to float. Despite the controversy against the current administration, it still doesn’t lose focus on boosting the economic progress that is showed on measurable gauges like statistical data. The satisfaction rating of PNoy rose from 47 to 57 percent this year, showing that Filipinos are feeling the development of the intensified determination of the government. On the agricultural sector where it is deemed to have been taken for granted, the budget for Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) of the Department of Agriculture has been increased from 281 million to 1.12 billion to promote science-based agricultural development. Since the downfall of agriculture from the past administration, it is undeniably true that it is difficult for a grand come back in this said sector, not having the trust of the farmers because of the land reform issue and activists’ influence. Education on the other hand is having the right equilibrium and is aligned with ASEAN in its K+12 Basic Education, rising from the past

curriculum, assuring that the graduates will not be left behind if introduced to work in the ever competitive global arena. This is a long term progress and needs ample time to further strengthen. The other side of the box is saying we had improved and the other one we’d not. But what’s the containment and the real score is us. The development should start within us. Each one of us should have a unified goal and that is going up. “You must be the change you wish to see in the world”. This is what Gandhi said emphasizing the importance of self-assessment. Along are questions, what have we done to have a better living? Are we contented for a day of survival? Let us be nationalistic. It’s been a forgotten word and we have to get back on the right track and keep pushing the country farther. Stop the useless talk and throwing stones that miss the target. Find the truth by yourself by basing it on the reality and make your decisions to elevate the standard of living. And solely through it, the tiger in us will head on the fertile ground of economic opportunity and efficiency. TWH

Politics doesn’t mean playing deceitful and trickery games against the people, it means playing resourceful and organized games for the people.

D

o you receive much remuneration more than ever? Perhaps you could feel it in the air. Santa Claus is indeed is coming to town but not because of Christmas. He brings a full sac of gifts in exchange for one thing, VOTES. Politics doesn’t mean playing deceitful and trickery games against the people, it means playing resourceful and organized games for the people. And to admit, the entire realm of Philippines is currently experiencing the ubiquitous of the upcoming Presidential Election. In proportion, as the mass of citizens who possess political rights increases, and the number of elected rulers increases, the actual power is concentrated and becomes the monopoly of a smaller and smaller group of individuals. Young people today seem to be coming around to the idea that it really doesn’t matter which politician or political party you vote for; and they’re catching on that it doesn’t even matter if you don’t vote because they have realized modern elections are just a way for the 1% to mollify the 99% – a way to keep

the masses in line by making them believe they’ve had their say, thereby perpetuating the lie that democracy continues. Maybe what stopped people from voting wasn't a lack of information about the candidates or a feeling that the outcomes of races didn't matter or a sense that a trip to the polls was inconvenient. What if voting wasn't only a political act, but a social one that took place in a liminal space between the public and private that had never been well-defined to citizens? What if toying with those expectations was key to turning a person into a voter? What if elections were simply less about shaping people's opinions than changing their behaviors? A slight change in the voting numbers could affect the entire outcome of an election and the course of world politics. It’s the one chance for each person to register their opinion about politics and how they believe the country should proceed. Statistics demonstrate a slight change in the number of voters can have a major impact on the outcomes of an election. When people consider the influence of Philippines on the free world, a single vote could alter the course of history.

Just before and after the man-made forest is naturally grown forestry which are thick with a phantasmagoria of lime foliage, diverse species of trees and massive ferns lining the road. In this mountainous area you will rarely see the sun. The roots of the mahogany protrude from the grounds. Even the scaly structure of corals on the stones can still be found. of the hills are evidently portrayed in the zone where the Chocolate hills of Bohol was formed ages ago by the uplift of coral deposits and the action of rain water and erosion. According to History, during World War II, this forested area was slash and burn to a farming system called “Kaingin” when the locals pursued bolthole in the enduring combat. Later on, a reforestation program started under the governance of Conrado Marapao in 1947 and It became the Loboc Watershed Reforestation Program Project consisting 19,410 hectares.

MARINONG GANDANG REYNA

“Action speaks louder than words”.

“Set it down to thyself, as well to create good precedents as to follow them” ang papel ng mga bakla. TWH june-november 2015 thewheelhouse

nto the wilderness, little Osing waves his tail while he plays along the khaki meadow of his own playground while his mother respites on the ground from a distant. It was undeniably a peaceful afternoon. A few moments later, when the two lounged together upon the twigs of a rotten tree, the ground was dazed by the arrival of unanticipated visitors. The whole place turned into a living underworld, leaving Osing a motherless fawn. His life is between life and death after her mother was slayed. As the Hunters carried her dead mother, one of the hunters pitied little Osing and brought him to a habitation where he can be raised. After all, he is the only one of its kind

left to survive. We’re currently experiencing the worst spate of species die-offs since the loss of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. Although extinction is a natural phenomenon, it occurs at a natural “background” rate of about one to five species per year. Scientists estimate we’re now losing species at 1,000 to 10,000 times the background rate, with literally dozens going extinct every day. Unlike past mass extinctions, caused by events like asteroid strikes, volcanic eruptions, and natural climate shifts, the current crisis is almost entirely caused by us — humans. In fact, 99 percent of currently threatened species are at risk from human activities, primarily those

driving habitat loss, introduction of exotic species, and global warming. The Negros Forest and Ecological Foundation becomes the new home of the poor Osing. It is located at the south capitol road of Bacolod City.It seeks to preserve endangered animals endemic to Negros. It is not just an ordinary zoo because it is designed to cater endangered species for medication, habitation, for them to live, be preserved and for them to breed. It houses different kinds of birds, reptiles, and mammals. In 1984, a group of concerned citizens started a “Save our Forest” movement. This grew into Negros Forest and Ecological Foundation.

It is an NGO (Non-Government Organization) and doing an environmental conservation. It is a non-profit private organization and it aims to protect, preserve, and conserve environment. Since then, teams of volunteers have worked tirelessly to reforest hundreds of hectares and established a breeding program of endangered species, also biodiversity conservation, education, and research programs. There are 16 species of animals in Negros Forest which are now endangered. One them are Visayan Warty Pig, Little Goldenmantled Flying Fox that occurs only at small Bangao, Indonesia, the Negros

Bleeding Heart that distinguished only by its reddish marks on its chest, the Visayan Taractic Hornbill that exists only in Negros, Panay, and Masbate, and Flying Fox (kabog) or larger fruit bats. This organization do not only focuses on animals but also in restoration of forest. They are also the advocates for the program “CAPTIVE BREEDING AND RELEASE PROGRAM” but the problem is there is no receptive forest ready for releasing.Because the rate of change in our biosphere is increasing, and because every species’ extinction potentially leads to the extinction of others bound to that species in a

complex ecological web, numbers of extinctions are likely to snowball in the coming decades as ecosystems unravel. Having The Negros forest and Ecological foundation is a proof that it is not yet the end, the conservation and management of threatened and endangered species is but a tremendous challenge. Because of efforts of federal, state, regional, and local agencies(sometimes in cooperation with private interests)some endangered species now have a better chance of survival. The involvement of every individual, especially private citizens are essential. Take out the blindness, show a little kindness, evolve up the ladder, get conscious- animals matter. TWH

ine sight of verdure, a canopy of dancing limbs and frigidity of air. A total haven for sustenance. But in a blink of an eye? GONE. Where are they? The wilderness on the latters of earth turned into a spacious alien crest. Guilty pleasure? Billion trees to countless brevets. Half of the forest which covers the earth went to the wilderness of humans. Indeed! Something so wild turned into paper. Papermaking consumes vast quantities of trees and it is one of the focal ecological dilemmas we’re facing right now. It has been 40 years since the amount of paper consumption scaled 400.The irreversible and hasty consequences of this, will lead people to worthless and drain world. So take a look around you, half of the forest that roofed the earth is gone. On paper we can make things feasibly. According to Phil Covington “Great ideas are started on paper and the world is educated on paper” through reference books, business contracts, letters, relevant news that publish on newspapers, paper wrappings. Justice, right, and freedoms is declared on paper. But nowadays, paper is used typically in packaging our commodities. Consequently, deforestation is inevitable because regardless of all the innumerable disadvantages we are still provided with benefits.

According to NASA, nearly four billion trees worldwide are cut down each year for paper and a total of 1 million tonnes of paper everyday are used. Since trees are in a variety of sizes, it would be difficult to say how much paper comes from one tree but Psychology today says that there are 900 million trees which are cut down annually as 2014 result. It equates about 2.47 million trees every day. To produce paper it takes twice the energy than producing a plastic bag. The World Count says that there are 42% of all global wood harvest and is used to produce paper. As a matter of fact, there are 16% of all wood used around the world in the paper industry. There are less than nine percent of wood used to create paper and harvested from growth forest which is unfeasible to restore because of maturity. Trees are the staple of any paper product which wholly contributes a promising benefit that possibly will in turn help the people. Is it really worth it to cut down our life saving trees for paper? The answer is in your hand. So now let’s take an action, manage responsibly every forest practices, conserve, recycle to reduce landfill of paper waste and to look after the inhabitant of each species to put off partial creatures life loss. neither try gambling at the casino nor get predisposed by the vices around it. “If you have that strong composure within you, and you know what you stand for most especially to your self-imposed customs, you have the chance to say NO and control yourself within this kind of workspace or to deal with gambling and vices,” she explained meticulously. She got friends at work who already adopted the lifestyle within the casino where vices are always around the corner, ready to draw its victim. But she remained who she really is from the start.

DEALER WORDS // Joan Batayo

Casinos are exciting for many people who feel they have a chance to win it big because so much money is flowing into it.

Casino is tied up with Chinese beliefs. It is the main reason why this kind of wilderness grows different state of freedom. “To get pissed and yell while losing can bring good luck or don’t count the money that you loss or gain during gambling or you can even pound the table when you lose because it will bring thousands of dimes,” she enumerated enthusiastically. It has its own song--- slot machines dinging, chips snapping as the dealer passed them out of the players at the tables, and the babble of people flinging down money with the anticipation of striking it big. It was like a carnival for adults where a man could vanish for days. It is a peoplekeeper paradise, a place known to influence a subculture in its wake. Casino is indeed an overwhelming 28

belief that to achieve the true picture, consideration of the situation as it is- is a paramount. Now, Will you still play the game? “Prepare yourself. Culture Shock is all over this place,” said Kristin Iris Estores as she stated her manager’s first reminder as she was about to start her first day as an employee at the Casino Filipino Bacolod owned by PAGCOR (Casino Filipino was once located at the Casino Filipino Hotel at the Golden Field but now relocated at El Fisher Hotel, Lacson St.). Kristin is also a part-time faculty member of

VMA Global College teaching tourism and HRM subjects. She has been working at the casino for five years and she knows very well the setting she’d entered. “I was once a dealer before I got assigned to the main office, I saw a lot of people becoming so obsessed with winning,” she stated. Gambling addiction is highly destructive. It does not matter whether the person is rich or poor, educated or uneducated but if a gambler crosses the line into problem gambling, addiction will highly occur. “There were even instances where one of our

regular costumers stayed for more than 24 hours of gambling, no time lapses in the game table which only means no sleeping, no bathing and rarely eating,” she exclaimed. “It’s hard to walk away from a winning streak, even harder to leave the table when you’re losing one,” Kristin quoted the people addicted to gambling inside the casino. Casinos are exciting for many people who feel they have a chance to win it big because so much money is flowing into it. According to the study of Kindt, Casinos are always

associated with drugs, alcoholism, and prostitution, indecent relationships and high end criminal activity. From all walks of life, people are capable of doing such vices. According to www. masscumpulsivegambling.org, research study found that 75% of gamblers had an alcohol disorder, 38% had a drug use disorder, and 60% were nicotine dependent, 50% had mood disorders, 41.3% had anxiety disorder and 60.8 % had personality disorder. On the contrary, she knows how to play the cards and the like but not even once did she ever get interested to

The Casino is another predator which always welcomes its prey. But as preys inside the jungle, be one of the Kristin’s class where people might sway in at the possibility of adapting the casino subculture but the state of calm around the wild is firmly anchored. We must play the game, the challenge is.. to minimize a stationary adventure and laziness with gambling. Play with the tricks of conventional money-making through human efforts. Take it one day, or hour at a time and keep in mind how great you will feel when you have cleaned and stopped gambling with your life. TWH june-november 2015 thewheelhouse

THE PH MIRACLE

EXTINCTION IS THE RULE

WORDS // John Arvin Paguntalan

A thing that will surely blow your mind. Just take the weight off your feet and hold your fire for the sun to upswing. Metamorphosing salty water into a filtered one. Ready to drink! Will you try it? As our country’s drought rumbles on, facing greatest dilemma, depleting groundwater and disrupting agriculture, there’s been a sustainable solution for a thirsty planet: Solar Desalination. Solar desalination is a process used to eradicate salt from water with the prop of solar energy to profit pure water. It has become more vital in furnishing unsullied water across the globe. Will you sip a glass of salty water? Doubtless, NO! Our body will off-color. In its purest form, it’s odourless, nearly colourless and tasteless. It’s in your body, the beverage you drink: Water. Water scarcity is one of the biggest hitches facing the world today. A crucial but limited resource, fresh water makes up merely 3 percent of the Earth’s water resources.

water increasing, freshwater sources are becoming scarce. In contrast, salt water makes up 97 percent of the Earth’s water. With this, concentration on solar desalination is engrossing on emerging cost-effective ways of providing fresh water for human use. Undeniably, an innovative discovery has a great panorama in stewarding global fresh water diminution.

offshore, low maintenance costs and an answer to phenomenon catastrophe, El Nino.

Countries like California, United Arab Emirates and Northern Africa in particular severe drought are the frontrunners when it comes to solar desalination.

According to predictions by the world resources institute, at least 3.5 billion people in the world will likely experience water dearth by 2025. As most of the world’s water resources are covered by sea and oceans, desalination is the best way for producing drinking water.

Last Year, Cebu City government signed a joint venture agreement to put up P750 million water desalination plant. Perhaps desalination is an option that forward-looking water business entities like Maynilad and Manila Water can study to offer a long term solution to our water woes. Solar desalination’s benefits and advantages have a great impact on milieu. It is primarily zero-carbon emission, uses free solar energy for operations, its plants are inexpensive, light in weight and easy to transport, can be set up easily either onshore or

Generally speaking, of the available freshwater in the world, only 0.08 percent is obtainable for use. It is needed by billion for sanitation and drinking purposes, not to mention for economic conducts in the manufacturing, industrial and agricultural sectors. In the midst of global demand for

Moreover, during times of severe drought, it would protect against water shortages. It could be a win-win for farmers that would decrease the need for municipalities to re-route water that is needed for agriculture.

We can’t rely forever on stopgap measures, asking people to conserve water but think of it? We must make a CHANGE! We are all humans, commencing the first flesh of apple until the second glass of wine. Into the wilderness, man has controlled water so that “the barren desert blossoms as the rose” where water conservation can be the earth’s conversion. TWH

Minimize serving raw ingredients. When preparing your food, only potable water should be used either from a municipal source, a regulated community well, a private well that has been tested to ensure it is free from contamination, or from sealed containers approved by a bottling manufacturer meeting state/federal guidelines. Man and food are destined for each other. It’s a haven of satisfaction. But will you dare to crave for more knowing that it might cause your demise? Food poisoning, also called food-borne illness is a common, yet distressing and sometimes life-threatening problem for millions of people in the U.S. and throughout the world. People infected with food-borne organisms may be symptom-free or may have symptoms ranging from mild intestinal discomfort to severe dehydration , bloody diarrhea and if made worse, it could lead to DEATH. Just this July 2015, we were greatly saddened by the consecutive food poisoning incidents in Surigao del Sur, Quezon City and Caraga Region caused by mangosteen-flavored candies, macapuno candies, and durian flavored candies respectively. The spate of these food poisoning cases affecting mostly students warrants the creation of the Food Safety Regulation Coordinating Board, which is tasked to prepare crisis management plan and lead food control programs. How to prevent food poisoning? Keeping your menu simple and maintaining potentially hazardous foods (meats, eggs, dairy products, cut fruits and vegetables, etc.) to a minimum could already avert the possibility of

One of these is the horrible nightmare she experienced when her father passed away. He worked as a guard of a politician that time but a major catastrophe took place. Mr. Belleza’s convoy was blocked by a group of armed man ready to blow up their defense. He grabed a chance for an escape but unfortunately he was shot and killed when he tried to help his fellow private guards from dying. Aneshela stated that her father acquired multiple shot all over his body and a gunshot on his head that caused his death. The last time she had talked to her father was when they’re having a serious conversation. “He pat my head and said this line.. “Eskwela kagid sang maayo ha, anhon mo na bi kay wala ta kwarta”.. Which caused her tears to fall, she just nodded and accepted the

Ang iban da gani ga pawarat lang tapos nga-a ako pa nga ga matutom ang indi ka eskwela?!” she zealously maintained while trying to hold back her tears. This sudden quandary and a life without a father seemingly doomed the Belleza family. But thanks to a good Samaritan. she is able to continue her studies. She admitted that she was not that close to her father. However, she still feels jealousy whenever she sees her classmates or friends accompanied by their dads. The tragedy that took away the pillar of her home pushed her to go beyond her best. “I just woke up from reality, I’ve been competitive towards my classmates” which sometimes caused issues as she progressed. She reached the top, she keeps on going and studying harder just to retain her scholarship. That serves as her life saver and build up her future success. For her, rumors, backstabbers, story makers and haters are normal. Without them, life will be bland. Aneshela encountered plenty of them. She just accepted it with optimism. She was sick of discouragements and poverty. She had been criticized and betrayed. Life has become so challenging that there are times they

But these weaklings gave her the reason to move beyond the path of her limits and prove Ms. Belleza recently joined the search for Mr. and Ms. VMA Global College 2015 and without doubts, won and bagged the award of best in swimwear competition. The search gave her so much memories and lessons in life. Some of the crowd might have been disappointed of her answer during the pageant. She felt embarrassed when the roaring crowd yelled a “BOOOOOO” sound, but a lot of fans admired and praised the stunning confidence that she showed while on stage. “Do your best in everything you do right now and make it as a passport to whatever you want someday” Aneshela says her motto in life. Through this, she proved that she deserves to be on the top of the class and problems are just temporary. Even you’re rich or poor, young or old, white or black, able or disable, any one could surpass and pulverize it. “Ms. Aneshela Belleza” let us give her an astounding applause! She’s just one of the women out there who is truly a fighter and a survivor of this year’s agonizing generation.TWH june-november 2015 thewheelhouse
