INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
THEME OF THE PORTFOLIO:PALIMPSEST Pentimenti in drawing means the presence or emergence of earlier images, forms, or strokes that have been changed and painted over. From my perspective, both pentimenti and landscape design achieve equally satisfactory results by different approaches since they both demonstrate the process of palimpsest in certain areas. By the reconstruction of the four sites in my portfolio, I aim to express that landscape design is a special palimpsest process on spatial features and the practical value of planning design, which means that palimpsest could function as both an analysis tool and design strategy with its core meaning in the construction of multilayer sites.

Although Nanbao Park was built to commemorate Yangtze River bridge, it has no interaction with it and has become a forgotten green space. After investigation, I extracted four different feelings about the bridge and applied them to my design in order to create connections between citizens and the bridge.

Location:Nanjing,Jiangsu Province Type:Academic/Individual Work Duration:2021.06-2021.07 Skills:Gis/PS/Rhino/AI/ID Aim&Objective:Urban Park Design/Topography Design With the development of cities, a large number of gray infrastructures have become indelible marks of cities. Although green construction has been attached great importance in China, they have few close connections with gray infrastructures, which is so disappointing. The project is re-feeling Nanbao Park with methods of reconstruction. By extracting four different feelings about the bridge and combining them with topography, the original quiet bridge, which now can provide people with different spatial experiences with the changes of the surrounding landscape, is connected with citizens closely. Finally, the designed site can activate the former park and truly have the marks of the bridge.

When visitors stand at the entrance square, the traffic flow, triangular lawn, and rows of planted trees all play a guiding role in guiding people's sight, which can make people feel the extension of the bridge.
The trees are planted in rows, dividing the Yangtze River Bridge into sections, making grey infrastructure and greenery interlinked together.

fade away
There is an artificial lake in the site, and the bridge is reflected in the water, making reality and reflection interwoven and providing visitors with fuzzy feelings.
When visitors are in the flower garden, the trees cover the bridge, and the Yangtze River Bridge gradually fades away with flowers and trees.

The site, which has been isolated in the middle of Pingtung since 1909 until now, is just the former site of the Taiwan Sugar Factory.
Pingtung Sugar Factory had a profound influence on the urban construction of Pingtung City, and the sugar railway line through Pingtung promoted regional development. However, the sugar industry gradually declined as Taiwan's economic structure changed, so the government finally closed the factory and removed part of the railway line. Now, the site has become a blank in high-density urban construction, which is incompatible with the surrounding environment.
CO
The Taiwan sugar railway line started at this factory and transported sugar to all parts of the city. The railway line through Pingtung city had accelerated urban construction and witnessed the changes of four major landscape areas, namely industrial, residential, commercial and agricultural areas.
This project by sugar railway line for clues, first summarizes the four main landscape areas throughout Pingtung, then extracts symbols of these four areas from different eras, eventually reawakening the citizens' memory of different landscapes in Pingtung and providing them an interesting activity area.

Since the line is inseparable from the development of Pingtung, it is a major clue to explore the city in our memory. Factories, accommodations, markets, and farmlands of various forms all developed around the railway line. Therefore, we can extract various symbols from them and create an impression mapping of Pingtung.

POLLUTED RIVER WITH HEAVY INDUSTRIES ALONG THE BANK
04 "Fuxi" Reborn
Fuxi River was the mother river of Zigong and there were many factories along it, promoting the economic development of Zigong in the past. However, With the city's industrial restructuring, Zigong's original rough-processing industrial model, nowadays, has lost its competitive advantages, slowing down the development of the city’s economy. Meanwhile, waste water discharged from factories, farmlands and accommodations along the bank has worsened the water quality and deteriorated the environment seriously, lowering the quality of people's life. New industry Location:Zigong,Sichuan Province Type:Academic/Team:Junyan Zhu,Yuhan Xue Duration:2021.10-2021.12 Skills:Gis/PS/Rhino/AI/ID Aim&Objective:Ecological Restoration/ Industrial Transformation Many regions in the developing countries are faced with the choice of ecology and economy, and Zigong is one of them. Since Zigong's long-ter m extensive industrial production has led to its serious environmental pollution and slow economic development, it has been in the dilemma of whether to protect ecology or improve economy for a long time. With the help of indigenous plants, this project aims to study the relationship between plants and production, and uses “reed” to help ecological restoration and industrial transformation, helping Zigong find a way to alleviate the current contradiction of Fuxi River system.

Based on the water-quality assessment, it can be found that the water pollution in the ABCDE segments is particularly serious. Therefore, the project is developed around these 5 segments. Through the previous analysis, it can be found that there are a large number of planting areas along the bank, also, we can find that segment A is located at the intersection of two rivers; segment D is the industrial park and segment E is surrounded by tourist attractions.

ZONE OF REED CONSERVATION Nowadays, the content of N, P and other elements in the original water exceeds the standard. Since the reed has a multitude of ecological advantages, such as purifying water, alleviating environmental pollution, providing ecological habitats for animals and plants, and regulating the microclimate, it can be used to avoid eutrophication of water effectively and restore the ecosystem.

According to the sowing and harvest of reeds from January to December, the corresponding factories related to beverage processing, commodity production, musical instrument and feed processing all derive from reeds. Considering geographical factors and local living habits, a reed industry chain with beverage processing industry as the core and chemical fiber manufacturing industry as the auxiliary has been formed.
