SPA CHAMELEON transformable spa experience - 2018 Spring Advanced Studio - Spa & Resort Design - Instructor: Katherine Lambert
CENTER POOL
I believe a good interior design always associates with experience design. For this project, I position myself as a customer and truly consider all the design elements. The Spa is located in one of the youngest cities in the world, with only 30 years of history. The spa constantly changes throughout the day, targeting young people who always seek for a unique experience. I challenge myself to combine exciting and calm spa experience in one space. As the name suggests, Spa Chameleon has two conditions, hiding or contrasting the surrounding nature, for both Introverted and extroverted users. During the day, natural light that comes from nature into the interior space is the dominated lighting source. It creates a beautiful shadow and color. At night, changing artificial light attracts people to important spaces.

Shenzhen, a hot and humid place, is one of the youngest cities in the world where it only has about 30 years. My customers are mostly young people and always seek for unique and changeable experience for leisure time. Spa Chameleon is situated in an isolated island near the coastline. The only way to access the spa is to row a small boat near the harbor.

Chameleon Cell Conceptual Model
Concept Development & Research I Started from investigating pod, cell, and signal which is invoking the specificities of a constantly evolving eco-cultural-material system. Falling in love with Chameleon cell, I developed a transformable pod that imitates how it functions.
Chameleons can quickly change their appearance in response to temperature, environment, and mood. Scientists recently identified a key factor in their ability to do this: The lizards can “tune the distances between nanoscale crystals in their skin that reflect light, creating a spectrum of colors.
Vandome
Inside
VANDOME Pavilion Design
Vandome emits colorful light to attract people to enter. The layers of Double-dome structure enables rotation. When the door isn’t matched, the colors will change from colorful light to ambient light. The column in the middle acts as a seating area for people to keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter. This is done through the thermal pipes underneath the surface of the columns

Hot Spring
Outdoor Dining No matter where you are, you can always notice the center infinite pools, a place for people to gather and socialize. Hot springs located in the forest allow people to have an intimate and biophilic experience.

Inspiration: Bone Structure
Section
Dining space is inspired by the form of a bone structure. In this space, customers can see the infinity pool at the center. they also can buy food and drink before and after enjoying the spa.
LOCKER & SOUNA
In the locker room, customer changes the clothes on one side, and they will see a linear narrow pathway that arouses their curiosity. Something is happening on the other side, but they can only see a bit. With curiously, they walk into the narrow pathway and find out a small sauna and steam room that hidden behind the wall.

Conceptual Image

Floor Plan Twisted interior walls in-between guestrooms contribute to the unique experience as well. It maximizes and differentiates the use of the spaces. Living room, bedroom, and bathroom live in between the twisted wall. The geometry eliminates the edges in order to improve comfort level.
DANCE STUDIO
When the sun vanishes at the horizontal line. Chameleon is waking up. The mood changes. Colorful lighting is taking over the ambient light, it leads people to special spaces.
VISIBLE Rambling in the forest - 2017 Summer Studio 2 - Residential Design - Instructor: Amy Campos
KITCHEN
I believe a future of residential design will bring colors, textures, and ingredients from nature into people living space. VISIBLE maximizes openings to allow surrounding beauty into spaces. This render is showing the kitchen and stairs design in VISIBLE. I used what I learned from my Intern in a modern kitchen design studio to develop the glass cabinet and the island.

Imagine, a person rambles through the forest, with the light filtering through the trees. Visible was inspired by the dawn in forests. To mimic this harmonious effect, I developed an architectural form to create a different light effect. Visible is a residential project that is designed for a married elderly couple in their 60’s with a two-yearold grandchild. For this audience, the number of open space is maximized, which ensures constant visual contact.

SCHOOL HOLOGRAM Bridge Students Though Holographic Teaching & Learning Experience - 2018 Summer Studio 4 - School Design - Instructor: Doris Anna Guerrero
STUDIO
School HOLOGRAM is Futuristic school designed for students who study icebergs. it projects Holographic images, courses, lectures, and creatures on the air to help students and guests study the ecosystem in glacier. Holographic images can be seen from multiple different spaces in order to encourage sharing of the information and participating in the event.
I fall in love with the richness of reflection and refraction in the ice. So I mimic the shapes, colors, and textures into my interior design.
This is an inspirational image for architectural form. The triangular shapes become the main design elements for my interiors.
Integrate the future projection technique Hologram into the design to reimagine the future of the school.

Creatures show their beauty through gorgeous patterns on their body such as the scale of fish body and peacock feathers, which contain attractive colors. My pattern was inspired by those beauty of the light and color. In my pattern, the light where coming through the hole of my pattern takes place of the attractive colors that appears on the creatures, to make it more controllable and varying.
Decorated by my designed ceiling panel, the lobby gives people a colorful first impression, which similar to the refraction of the light in the ice. Two colors stand out: Blue and orange. This designed ceiling panel is inspired by the combination of peacock feather and fish scale.

ATLAS HOTEL A dramatic change of space configuration. - 2018 Spring Studio 3 - Hospitality Design - Instructor: Yoko Ishihara
STUDIO
Located in San Francisco, Fort Mason Pier 9, ATLAS Hotel varies spatially in size, height, and color to create a unique experience of entertainment. The hotel hosts a new type of art-centric lifestyle to attract tourists as a major destination for travelers. As people walk through the building, they experience a vast transition from a tiny narrow saturated pathway to big open monochromatic spaces.
INSPIRATION
The concept of my hotel starts with a question: How to impress cutomers when they move in and out of spaces? I began to think about my personal impressive memory. Interestingly, they have similar attributes: red, repetitive, and unique.
SKETCHES OF LAYOUT
Those are the sketches of different possibilities of spatial layout. For my final layout, there are two entrances. You can either enter through an art gallery where close to the street or in the middle where the reception is located to check in. Since the site is located at the pier, I situated the restaurant and bar close to the water side, so customers can have an open and peaceful view during dining.
PATI - DIAGRAMS
Pati- diagrams show the process of thinking the spatial relationship in three dimensions. It helps me visualize connections and designs architectural forms.
Pier 9 - an existing warehouse building located along the San Francisco Bay at Fort Mason. The site is part of a larger network of historic military piers, buildings, warehouses and transportation networks that make up an evolving campus for arts and culture. it operated by the non-profit organization Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture
