LIVING IN BETWEEN City design & Architectural design of one block
“Danchimeans a large land area that created by the Japanese government for constructing collective houses for low-income people after WWII. Until today, most of Danchi was privatization in Tokyo by dividing into many small pieces. In order to reactive the Danchi space in Aoyama for the incoming Olympic Games, the government decided to remove the building and redesign the land as commercial and resident space. Space works for the city is always in-between the buildings. This project focuses on these in-between space which links the city, street, and house.
Feb-May, 2018 Univ: Washington Univ in St. Louis Individual work Instructor: Zeuler R. Lima, Ph.D Location: Tokyo, Aoyama Kitamachi
Attracting by the economic effect of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, the local governors decide to rebuild this “Danchi“ community with two Highrise residential tower on the south part of the site. Base on the limited site information, the Massing model built by considering one tower situation, before the field trip in Tokyo. Left: Massing model of the city design. Right: Massing model with city context.
After the field trip in Tokyo, site information changed to have two towers and the gap between the two towers and residential blocks is being designed as a park works for the community base on the information of the current site By using the grasshopper, the green area pattern generated which guided by the circulation. So that the green area loses its boundary with the road, letting dwellers could walk into the green space.
Second Floor Plan
The concept of separating one residential block with public space which near the two towers is to build a hierarchy in between, therefore setting a bookstore plays as the boundary between the towers and house. Letting people live on the second floor, the ground space would be free to the public and the house owns the hierarchy in vertical view.
flexible corner Multistories community complex
Under the severe changing of the city appearance in nowadays China, old communities inside the downtown area losing its attraction for citizens. Original dwellers move out, new workers who from the countryside come in, the movement of the population generally making these old communities become crowded and disorder. Antiquated infrastructure, locking public space are the main problem of these communities. We selected the Hualou street in Hankou district of Wuhan as the site, it is a old district which is facing urban renewal. In the process of deepening the project, we chose the migrant workers as the target audience, for the purpose of providing t h e m a m o re co nve n i e nt a n d c l e a n merchandising location, in the meantime, providing the residents more public spaces.
Sept-Dec, 2015 Univ: Huazhong Univ of Sic & Tech Two-person team work Individual part: form design, space design, concept deepening, rendering, model. Instructor: Mei Jang, Ph. D Location: Hualou street, Hankou, Wuhan Overall floorage: 3000 ㎥
Base on the field trip several times in Hualou street, we lay out street information and create an impression map of the street. Left: Street information Right: Impression map of Hualou St

In order to release the crowded condition on the corner of the street, lots of opening and shading space gave to the first floor of the project to reduce the pressure on the street and link the block circulation. Left: First floor plan
Different from the first floor, the second floor has the entrances of three residential buildings and owns a platform to link each other. Right: Second floor plan
Shop type 1 -- Selling
Shop type 2 -- Selling+Living
Shop type 3 -- Selling+Storage For restore the commerical type on the street, the three types of shop plan gave to the first floor plan. In the early investigation of the commercial activities on the street. Shops' sales area expands to the street, sometimes the entrance and the street were the main places for selling. Some of the shops have a number of rooms, they are used for Selling and storage. Some shops have great depth, the room close to the street is used for selling, the room away from the street is used for living.

FOREST STUDIO Extra studio for students in school of architecture and urban planning
From the early day while the school of architecture, HUST was found, there were a block of forest kept on the south of building of school. With more than fourty years to now, the forest provide a amusement place or a experimental construction site for students and school faculties. The site locates in the forest in south of the school, the luxuriant trees here divides the space into several spaces of various sizes, which not only provides clues for my decision of selecting the location, but also affects the whole building’s form. In the design process, I was inspired by the attic room’s space form, trying to break the normal space form of rectangular studio, and providing a more comfortable and special spatial feeling for users.

Single unit generatiing & Construction process
Wuhan has a subtropical monsoon climate, it is hot and humid in summer, while cold and wet in winter. The site is located on forest land and near the lake, which further worsens its damp environment.
Using strategy of studio on the ground
Therefore most of the studio arranged into the second floor, it is 3.3 meters above the ground, which can effectively avoid the influence of moist gas and improve the studio’s living environment. Studio

trailblazing City design & Architectural design of the podium in high-rise complex
Unlike previous schemes, the site chosen in this project is in the new urban district which is still in planning, and lacks built-up urban context in its surrounding space, therefore, we tried to analyze the feature of local natural landscape and use it as our concept of city design, and based on the site survey of the city (Yingtan) to determine the specific business type in this project.
Mar-Jun, 2016 Univ: Huazhong Univ of Sci & Tech Three person team work: City design Individual part: Site investigating, concept generating and deepening, general plan drawing, model Single person work: Podium design of commercial complex Instructor: Prof. Yi Yang Location: Moonlake, Yingtan, Jiangxi Province Type: Commerical building Overall floorage: 18,873 ㎥
The site is located in Moonlake New District of Yingtan city, Jiangxi Province. Its location will be in the central business district in the future. From the perspective of the whole Yingtan, the site locates in the western suburb of the city, and a number of railway stations and highways distribute in the area within 10km around the site, Meanwhile, there are several scenic spots around the site, which has a great potential for tourism development.

The course begins by studying foundational projects and offices that are somehow genre defining in the computational/parametric architecture space. By investigating methods of production, original software, collaborations, manufacturing/construction advancements/limitations, and general design trappings, then submit a report on the project of the personal choice, findings, and opinions. And express the personal ideology in a 2D patterning project printed large format, a 3D patterning project incorporating data from an outside source, a model made with flat/ standard materials in an irregular/difficult form.
