To convert to a simple halter, unclip the two cheek pieces and carefully remove the bit. It can also be replaced by carefully raising the horses bit into the mouth as when putting on a standard bridle and re-attaching the two side clips. The bridle is easily adjusted for a perfect fit with buckles in a variety of locations.

Deluxe Bridle fitting.

The Zilco Deluxe SS Endurance bridle is a two-part bridle that can easily convert from a bridle to a simple halter quickly and easily by unclipping the cheek pieces and carefully lowering the bit out of the mouth. The browband should sit flat across the horse’s face, neither pulling the headpiece forward or sagging. The buckles for the cheek piece and noseband should sit in line with the horse’s eye. The throatlash should be loose enough to allow a hands depth inserted easily, any tighter can impair breathing and movement. The Cavesson style noseband should sit 2cm below the horse’s cheekbones and 2 fingers should be able to be inserted under the straps The cheek pieces should hold the bit level with 1-2 creases on the horse’s lip to make sure the bit is high enough in the mouth but not too tight. The type of bit chosen and ring size will affect the length of cheek piece required.

Deluxe 2-Part

This is done by simply releasing the snaps on the browband. All fittings are stainless steel. The Halter and Bridle parts are sold separately, to mix & match colour options and create a unique look. Designed to fit Arabian type horses, however this bridle offers enough adjustment to fit some larger horses. SIDEPULL BRIDLE STANDARD BRIDLE

3-In-1 Bridle fitting.

Scawbrig Bridle: The bridle should fit like any other bridle, so the headpiece should sit comfortably behind the ears, and the browband just below the base of the ear and not be too tight. The noseband should sit approx. Two fingers width below the prominent cheek bone. You should be able to get two flat fingers at the front of the noseband and the back. The Scawbrig chin attachment provides extra pressure under the chin. The soft webbing chinstrap sits just behind the chin. You should be able to get 2 fingers between the chin and the strap. Replace the soft neoprene cover. There should only be 2cm of chin strap coming through the ring. The reins are then attached to the chin strap loops and gentle pressure is applied on the chin groove and nose. Sidepull Bridle: If you are wanting to change between a Scawbrig and sidepull action while out riding, the reins can simply be attached to the rings for the sidepull bridle. PLEASE NOTE: if using the sidepull bridle action, you may wish to tighten the noseband slightly to help prevent any excess sideways movement of the bridle. Standard Bridle: A bit can also be used with the bridle, while keeping all the bitless fittings in place, allowing you to convert to bitless while out riding. The bit will sit underneath the noseband with the chinstrap behind the bit ring.
