We all work hard to keep our homes and our loved ones safe, but that can be a challenge when your home is for sale. Here are a few tips you can follow to make sure you and your property are protected:

1. HIRE A REALTOR ®

The safest way to sell your home is to hire a local REALTOR ® who will screen potential buyers so that you will not have to interact with strangers who may pose a threat. Because only those buyers who are qualified to buy the property are allowed in the door, your REALTOR ® will save you valuable time and prevent “Looky Lou’s” who may be there to survey your belongings.

REALTORS ® also use lockboxes with cutting edge technology to protect your home. These lockboxes communicate by satellite and track every person who accesses your home in real time. Access to the lockboxes shut off automatically between the hours of 9pm-7am Central Standard Time/10pm-8am Central Daylight Time, and can also be programmed for different times as needed. And since REALTORS ® are required to schedule

an appointment to view every home between those hours, sellers will never be intruded upon without notice.

2. REMOVE VALUABLES

It is recommended that sellers remove all valuables prior to showing their homes. Items such as jewelry, cash, medications, and firearms can be easy targets and should not be left in the home during showings.

3. INSTALL CAMERAS

Installing cameras is a great way to keep an eye on things while your home is for sale. With security cameras more affordable and easier to access than ever before, sellers can view everything that happens in their home from the convenience of their smartphones. Cameras can also give sellers peace of mind as they witness the showing process without having to interact with potential buyers directly.
