Today’s Little Giraffe has a lower back and comes in fabric or leather with a seamlessly matching seat cushion. It pays homage to the original design whilst living up to the needs of modern times. First and foremost, the Little Giraffe is versatile. This version caters for heavy daily use in public spaces as well as it fits beautifully around any dining table at home. No matter the space surrounding the Little Giraffe it tells a tale of modern design, of impeccable Fritz Hansen upholstery skills and of a sculpture that simultaneously represents aesthetics and comfort.
REPLACE & REPLAY The Little Giraffe is available with a removable cover, which can easily be changed with a zipper. Among the many advantages of a removable cover are easy stain removal and cleaning. The cover is easily added: simply put the cover on the shell, zip it up and attach the seat cushion with Velcro. Furthermore, it allows you to play with different styles and update the interior decor – either at home or at work – and it looks just as seamless as the fixed cover. Note that the removable cover is only available for the fabric version of the Little Giraffe.
Like Arne Jacobsen’s many other pieces of furniture created with Fritz Hansen, the Little Giraffe is an example of genuine mid-century Danish design which is known for its timelessness, craftsmanship and adaptability to many different interior styles.

FRITZ HANSEN IS PROUD TO PRESENT CHRISTIANSHAVN, OUR NEW EXCLUSIVE TEXTILE DESIGNED IN HOUSE. CHRISTIANSHAVN IS A TIMELESS AND TONE IN TONE COLLECTION OF COLORS THAT OVER TIME CAN DEVELOP AS THE COLLECTION EXPANDS.
The nascence of Fritz Hansen’s own textile underlines the design universe that defines the very core of Fritz Hansen: to create an experience and shape a complete world rather than merely produce furniture. With Christianshavn, the design process does not end until the last stitch has been made. In other words, the Fritz Hansen design DNA is now reflected in both the shape of the shell and the feel of the textile. Creating an entire design experience – that is Fritz Hansen’s metier. THE MATERIAL Fritz Hansen has a significant history of working with wool which dates back to the workshop in Christianshavn. The complex craftsmanship found in some of the most iconic lounge chairs demands the use of high-quality materials along with meticulous upholstery skills. With Christianshavn, both strength and density are keywords and the mix of wool and nylon offers a soft touch rather than the traditional roughness that characterises hardwearing wool. THE COLOURS Christianshavn is presented in a palette of 26 beautiful colours – from the classic tone-on-tone to the bolder, brighter shades. The palette journeys through three colour genres: calm pastels, blue-grey tones and bright colours. Some colours are unicolour – perfect for the simple, elegant expression that enhances the shape of a design – and some are melange, where triple threading offers both a playful appearance and a fresh look, even after years of usage.

Christianshavn™
The history of Fritz Hansen began in 1872, where the enterprising cabinetmaker Fritz Hansen obtained a trade license in Copenhagen. 1885 was a significant year, when he started a furniture production company of his own and two years later he had managed to establish a flourishing workshop in Christianshavn – a central part of Copenhagen. Fritz and his son Christian initiated the high quality level which has been the trademark of Fritz Hansen’s products ever since. So, with the launch of Christianshavn Fritz Hansen proudly celebrates its legacy and history as manufacturer and design leader.
A drop of colour THE REVIEW
Sometimes all it needs is a drop of colour to breathe new life into a design icon. This year Fritz Hansen’s ever-popular Drop™ chair gets a make-over with the addition of four new fresh colours that appeal to the next generation of urban customers. Alongside the existing classic black and white, the chair now comes in a chic grey and also three playful shades of pink, yellow and blue. The expanded colour selection now allows multiple interior design options: from the use of bold colour mixes around a dining table or in a restaurant to simple graphic colour blocking or a stand-alone colour splash in a hallway or home office. Contemporary in appearance and fresh in attitude, the new Drop will undoubtedly become an intrinsic part of metropolitan living and working.

Embracing modern life THE REVIEW
“If you sit on it, you will notice that this is a Fritz Hansen chair. If you live with it, you will realise that this is pure Japanese design.” nendo
A dining room is not merely a dining room anymore. We introduce a new wooden chair for the modern home and quality-conscious audience - the N01™ chair designed by the Japanese design studio Nendo. Created by the merging of Danish and Japanese aesthetics and purity, N01 brings back nature and embraces the essence of timeless wood craftsmanship.
What were the main challenges in developing this chair? “Normally the section where the frame and shell are joined is thickened to increase strength, which gives an impression of heaviness. However, to provide a lighter appearance, it was carefully designed to look as though the joining sections are touching as little as possible.
What inspired you to design the N01™ wooden armchair for Fritz Hansen? “Fritz Hansen are known for their highly skilled moulding technique using plywood, and their wide experience with comfortable seating has contributed to their unique style. The plywood technique has been used in many of their chairs such as the Ant™ and Series7 ™. It was exciting to learn that Fritz Hansen has not made a solid wooden chair for many years, probably not since the Grand Prix™ chair by Arne Jacobsen in 1957, and that the N01 chair may be the next wooden chair after this. A wooden chair is not an easy product for a designer to make. It is one of the most difficult and one’s personal mentality or philosophy can be expressed through it, but after working as a designer for 15 years it was a great pleasure to have been offered this opportunity from Fritz Hansen. At the same time I felt that this project was a kind of destiny and decided to take on the challenge.”
The difficulty with a wooden chair is that even a small change of size - for example even less than 1mm - can greatly change its appearance and level of seating comfort. By changing the shape of the legs or the arms from that of a column to an ellipse, or by narrowing down the edge, or by giving a slight roundness or curve to it, the chair can be given a totally different character.”

In your opinion, what do you like the most about the design? Which feelings or emotions does it evoke? “Both sides of the seat have a gradual incline, helping realise a comfortable seating experience, as if one’s body is being embraced. In my opinion, this part of the design has this in common with the identity of the flagship chairs of Fritz Hansen, the Swan™ and the Egg™.”

DISCOVER A MEDLEY OF EARTH TONES, LONG-LASTING MATERIALS AND A MIX OF OLD AND NEW. WE PRESENT SOMETHING FUNCTIONAL, SOMETHING DECORATIVE, SOMETHING FROM THE ARCHIVES AND SOMETHING SPECIAL.
THE REVIEW
NEW ROUND VASE AND NEW COLOURS A Pale grey and a dark Tenmoku glaze continues the fascination for Japan in the Cecilie Manz series of earthenware handmade in Seto, Japan. Discover two new colours and the new Round vase in this line extension softening up any lounge area.
NEW PATTERN AND COLOUR Very few knew that Arne Jacobsen also designed patterns for textiles and this Tassel cushion is a perfect example hereof. Irregularities meet aesthetics in ochre yellow fit for autumn and for lounge settings that need a little softness.
LOUISE CANDLEHOLDERS Named after Louisiana – the museum of modern art – the Louise candleholders by Grethe Meyer reflect functionality and aesthetics in one simple expression. The silver-plated Louise candleholders light up any lobby, lounge or hotel room.
GEO SCULPTURES The GEO series of wooden sculptures by Jaime Hayon adds an artistic dimension to the Fritz Hansen collection. Each figurine has a distinct functionality – one is a hidden vase, the other has a tiny container for small objects. They are decorative in the hotel room windowsill and add charm to any work desk.

ORIENT™ The characteristic Orient™ pendant in brushed aluminium is not only a light and elegant addition to the existing series of warm and dark colours, it is also a tribute to the original collection where both a black, a copper and a silver coloured version were presented. Nevertheless, this silvercoloured aluminium has a personality of its own and renders the design Nordic and extravagant at the same time. The well-known oriental shape creates a fascinating contrast in combination with the cool brushed aluminium. As the cherry on top, a suspension in Scandinavian oak combines the shade with a grey blue textile cord and truly underlines the Nordic appearance.
HIGH DOT™ BARSTOOL Arne Jacobsen first introduced the three-legged Dot™ stool back in the 1950s. This monochrome black version has a dusty matt appearance and the base in black powder coated steel compliments the seat in leather, perfectly suited for bars, restaurants and even height adjustable work desks.
CROSS-PLEX™ The Cross-Plex™ lamp first saw the light of day in 1961. This exceptional lamp – shaped like a cross and moulded in plexiglass, hence the name – consists of only the very necessary. Cross-Plex is therefore a pure reflection of the architect and designer’s characteristic clean-cut and straight lines - something she uses in everything she has designed.
DOGU™ Translucent, sculptural and simply exceptional – all three words characterise the Dogu™ lamp by the Danish artist, ceramist and designer Michael Geertsen. The name Dogu is Japanese and refers to old traditional figurines portraying animals and humans – much like Geertsen’s own art does. Dogu’s shade is made of bone china – an exclusive material created from actual bone powder and white clay.
