OXFORD™
The original version of the Oxford™ chair was designed for the professors at St. Catherine’s College in Oxford. The chair’s extra tall back served as a symbol of prestige and created a space of its own. The “professor’s chair” later evolved into the Oxford series. In spite of initial protests and uproar over the commission of a foreign moderist, Arne Jacobsen received an honorary doctorate from Oxford, upon completion of the project. This ground breaking example of total design is, today, considered Arne Jacobsen’s most outstanding work.
ARNE JACOBSEN 1902-1971 The cooperation between Arne Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen dates back to 1934. But it was in 1952 the break-through came with the Ant™. It was succeeded by the Series 7™ in 1955. This propelled his and Fritz Hansen’s names into furniture history. Arne Jacobsen was very productive both as an architect and as a designer. At the end of the 50’s Arne Jacobsen designed the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, and for that project the Egg™, the Swan™, the Swan Sofa™ and Series 3300™. Arne Jacobsen was and is an admired and outstanding designer. While the significance of Arne Jacobsen’s buildings was less appreciated, his furniture and other design work have become national and international heritage.

For environmental reasons all parts of the chairs can be dismantled. The plastic material can be granulated and recycled and the aluminium can be melted and recycled.
DESCRIPTION Series of chairs and armchairs designed by Arne Jacobsen, manufactured by Fritz Hansen. The shell is made of laminated veneer either covered with PU foam and upholstered with fabric/leather or featuring front upholstery in fabric/leather. The armrests and bases (5-star) are moulded satin-polished aluminium. All chairs are available with low, medium high or high back, the front upholstered version is available only with medium high back; double castors with aluminium caps or black-grey synthetic toes; with fixed seat height or height adjustment incl. tilt mechanism. The accessories include mirror chromed base and arms, leather padded arms, automatic return mechanism, glides, hard or soft castors with or without brake action.
UPHOLSTERY The upholstery for the fully and front upholstered versions is available in the fabrics: Fame, Remix, Canvas, Tonus, Hallingdal, Divina, Divina MD, Divina Melange, Steelcut, Steelcut Trio, Milani and Comfort and the leather includes: Basic, Soft, Rustic, Natural, White, Optical white, Elegance and Sense.
WARRANTY Standard goods have warranty for five years against manufacturing defects (i.e. materials and design). The warranty does not cover leather and other fabrics ordered as customers own or special material as well as products manufactured according to customer specifications. Normal wear and tear and damage of covers are not covered by the warranty. The warranty for wicker and lamps is 2 years.
extended limited WARRANTY Fritz Hansen offers an extended limited warranty if you register your Oxford™ chair online at fritzhansen.com/my-republic. Registration with the product ID number must be made within three (3) months from the date of purchase, otherwise the extended limited warranty will not apply. Years of warranty: 5 years covers: Fabric, Height adjustable, Tilt, Swivel function, Castors, Leather: Soft, Basic. 10 years covers: Base, Shell, Armrests, Natural veneer, Leather: Rustic, Natural, White, Optical white, Elegance, Sense.
