ARCHITECTURE WORKS

This portfolio is a collection of concept-driven design projects that make up the body of architectural work thus far in my education. All projects seek to have their own architectural concept. This collection includes works that explore processes, theoretical explorations, experiments, and grounded design solutions. My intentions are to continue exploring and creating concepts that are introduced in this portfolio and expand my design knowledge as I continue pursuing the field of architecture.

Making of the Public - Commons

Street/Mobility within Bryan-College Station, Texas

This research focuses on understanding the public-commons of Bryan-College Station. We began our invesitigation with the word “mobility”, and sought to understand the scale of the body, streets and sidewalks throughout the city. After visiting several intersections we generated a question from our different experiences, “How do the formal geometries, space and scale of roads/sidewalks affect mobility in Bryan College Station?” With this question in mind, we started to ask with which mediums would this question best be understood? This inquiry was explored by creating site documentation through photographs and gifs to understand the perspective experience of these intersections, and additional maps for final documentation. With our research in mind, we began to formulate new systems of mobility throughout Bryan-College Station, with the main focus to develop a tram system that would connect the existing cities together. We then took this opportunity to design different parts of the city and how this newly proposed tram system would play a key component in this PublicCommons.

Intervention Site 01 is located in Bryan, Texas on North Texas Avenue near State Hwy 21. This area was initially an interest due to the existing site conditions consiting of mulitple commmunities and an industrial area that seperated them. This site serves to create a new spine of the city by focusing on providing recreational facilities for the surrounding neighborhoods and other kinds of facilities that would be beneficial.

Intervention Site 02 is located in College Station, Texas along William D. Fitch Pkwy next to the College Station Highschool. Surrounded by residential neighborhoods, this site concentrates on connecting the existing highschool and surrounding neighborhoods to the proposed tram network with a program taxonomy that concentrates on bringing people together to learn and provides additional recreational activities.

Father & Son Gallery Digital Joints - Fictional Reality

The project initially explores an understanding of operations in architecture. Selected operations are applied to a case study house, Green Belt House, by using diagramatic processes in 2D and translating this into a 3D analog model. Meanwhile, the studio refocuses to study generic houses by creating sectional objects with operations defined by Gordon Matta Clark and poche elements of floorplans designed by Edwin Lutyens. The analog model then becomes digitized and is connected to the sectional object via digital joints. The object or Father & Son Gallery questions fictions of architecture and resemble that of a castle. Additionally, questions of materiality and other common materials used on buildings questions if this is purposeful in its existence.

Texas A&M Rowing Facility Engaging Communities

This project seeks to develop a Rowing Facilty for the Texas A&M’s Rowing Team and improve public space for the surrounding community. As we developed our design, we want to focus on our beliefs and commitments to the community through public areas and promote the interaction between the rowing team and the residents here in Bryan/College Station.

Texas A&M Crew Team would like a facility that contains extra storage space, locker rooms, bathrooms, offices, and other programs in order to expand their current team and foster growth within the community. Although they have been using this space at Lake Bryan efficiently, their goals are to expand and create a dream boat house where they could practice, host events, and encourage the community to become involved in the sport of rowing. Building Above Sienna Expansion

This studio’s objective was to research a solution to continue expanding the town of Sienna, Italy by desiging above it. Cities such as Sienna are facing issues dealing with urban sprawl. and this exercise is to explore how we can use existing structures to build upon versus contributing to urban sprawl. Phase 1 of this studio considers Piazza del Campo as its site. In this instance, the focus is to design above and around this public space. Phase 2 of this studio focuses on a singular building to design above. This design origins are a continuation of the pre-existening buildings linework. By using operations such as twisting and bending to form the final object and contrasting this with the use of intersecting cubes.

Window to the Park Barcelona Restauracio

This project focuses on establishing a connection between Ciutadella Park/ Universitat Pompeu Fabra Campus to the Borne Neighbor in Barcelona, Spain. The site contains Biblioteca del Museu Martorell which has become a barrier between these entities. The solution we seek will consider conserving parts of the museum and will reimagine how the park and building can be integrated into one another.
