ZMDI stands for 50 years of innovation in microelectronics. We can proudly state that we are one of the oldest semiconductor companies in the world. The company started with a vision of the founder Prof. Hartmann in 1961 and continues with a clear vision today: A commitment to “green” technology. ZMDI’s commitment is evident in our portfolio. We provide energy-efficient devices for sensors, LEDs and smart power-management applications. We look to the future and detect opportunities for greater customer benefits in energy efficiency before they become obvious. We believe it is equally important to detect opportunities and to have the courage to make the necessary business decisions to execute on them. Over the decades we had to reinvent our business model numerous times; however, some values have been ingrained in our company DNA since our beginning in 1961: hard-working people, analog engineering excellence, invention with a solution orientation, competitiveness, a willingness to learn, and active participation in society. Today we tackle the global challenge of climate change. We do this by making products that help reduce CO2. We show our daily progress and results on our website. We have also been an active founder of Silicon Saxony, the largest microelectronics cluster worldwide. Socially, we sponsor chess tournaments, and created the ZMDI Open, which is the largest chess festival in Europe. This was instrumental in attracting the 2008 Chess Olympics to Dresden. We also support the American Foundation for Chess which teaches 50,000 children per year to learn chess. We want to continue our contribution in several ways: Innovate so we can create “first solutions” for our customers; remain profitable to nurture our highly skilled workforce within our familyand health-oriented company environment; and continue to be an active, socially responsible corporate citizen that improves our world and tackles challenges like climate change with green technologies. 3
