The story of Amira

I lost everything

“When IS came and occupied our city, I lost everything. Besides my house and my belongings, I had to leave my cattle behind. They used to be my source of income. I had to flee together with my two daughters and my son. I did not have anything to sustain myself and my family. No possessions, no income. I was desperate until ZOA came. ZOA gave me some sheep and provided training on how to best take care of the sheep and when it is best to go to the market. It feels like the right moment now to start teaching others the skills I was able to learn!” Amira Hassan (40), Iraq
