Shanghai Observer Columbia Circle is located at the heart of Shanghai with a rich and layered history, including both preserved colonial monuments and former industrial structures. The park was initially built by American arhitect Elliott Hazzard for Shanghai's American hub during colonial time in WWII in the 1920s. It was then transformed into biological industries in 1962 and finally moved out left the site idle. Recently, the Columbia Cirle has been widely familared as a urban renewal program while it was turned into a creative park. It was also surrounded by traditional residential housing which have siginificant comparison within the park, especially on Panyu Road. The project was to enhance the city image and architectural conflict between the western style club and traditional residential buildings in Shanghai which represented the feeling of 'Syber Punk'. As Columbia Circle is a popular destination among younger generation in Shanghial, the new buildings would provide art studios and guesthouses for the visitors to deeply experience the life, history and contrast happening in this city.

Concept Collage

Gated Community is quite common in China as well as the Columbia Circle positioned as a 'new lifestyle park'. As the park is privately owned, acceessibility was negatively impacted due to the security control. Two mixed-use buildings functionalised as art studios and guesthouse would be established on the site. The aim is to provide places for artists and visitors in Shanghai to observe the lifestyle and history of the city as the city coexists various scenery. The 'observer' would also encourage interactions between visitors and the local residents for deeper understanding of the city.

02 Refugee Interchange Camp Tripoli, Capital of Libya, bordering the southern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, has been an important trade center and strategic location since ancient times. Libya has been also been plagued by war and instability. Conflicts such as war and confrontation, energy and pollution, refugees and transportation, relics and reconstruction, islamic civilization and modern civilization, regionalism and globalization, terrorism and "counter-terrorism" terrorism, backward medical conditions and shortage of fresh water resources are playing out in this historic city. Tripoli' is also the largest port, considering that refugee gathered in port in order to escape through the Mediterranean Sea to European countries, however the chance of survival is only 1/6. The government of national accord (GNA) now runs the original detention centre which was destroyed by Libyan civil war in 2019 July. Huge increasing "refugees flood" have tremendously influenced other countries so far. to seek the solution of major problem caused by Libyan civil war by designing a new refugee camp to surge refugee in a short-term time which could both provide basic assistance and creat a sustainable lifestyle. 50,000 refugees are estimated to reside in this camp and could to some extenteffectively relieving the refugee crisis faced by European countries.
